Luke 12
1 During which time the myriads of the multitude having gathered together so as to trample each other, he began first to say to his disciples, Take heed to yourselves from the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Inzwischen hatten sich so viele Scharen eingefunden, daß man sich gegenseitig auf die Füße trat. Er sprach zunächst zu seinen Jüngern: "Hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer, das heißt vor Heuchelei.
2 But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.
Denn es ist nichts geheim, was nicht offenkundig wird, und nichts verborgen, was nicht bekannt werden wird.
3 Therefore, as many things as ye have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what ye have spoken in the ear in the inner chambers will be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Was ihr im Dunkeln gesagt habt, das wird man im Tageslicht hören; was ihr in den innersten Kammern leise geflüstert habt, das wird man laut von den Dächern rufen.
4 And I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of those who kill the body, and after these things not having anything more severe to do.
Euch, meinen Freunden, sage ich: Fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, die den Leib zwar töten können, doch weiter nichts vermögen.
5 But I will show you whom ye should fear. Fear him, who, after killing, has power to cast into hell. Yes, I say to you, fear ye him. (Geenna g1067)
Ich will euch zeigen, wen ihr fürchten sollt: Fürchtet den, der über den Tod hinaus noch in die Hölle stürzen kann. Ja, ich sage euch: Den fürchtet! (Geenna g1067)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God.
Verkauft man nicht fünf Sperlinge schon für ein paar Pfennige? Und doch ist keiner aus ihnen bei Gott vergessen.
7 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore, ye are superior to many sparrows.
Sogar alle Haare eures Hauptes sind gezählt. So fürchtet euch denn nicht; ihr seid mehr wert als viele Sperlinge.
8 And I say to you, every man who will confess in me before men, the Son of man will also confess in him before the agents of God,
Ich sage euch: Wer sich vor den Menschen zu mir bekennt, zu dem wird sich der Menschensohn auch vor den Engeln Gottes bekennen.
9 but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of the agents of God.
Wer aber mich vor den Menschen verleugnet, der wird vor den Engeln Gottes verleugnet werden.
10 And every man who will speak a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him, but to him who blasphemed against the Holy Spirit it will not be forgiven.
Und wer ein Wort sagt gegen den Menschensohn, dem wird vergeben werden; doch wer den Heiligen Geist lästert, dem wird nicht vergeben werden.
11 And when they bring you to the synagogues, and the principle positions, and the offices of authority, be not anxious how or what ye should answer in defense, or what ye should say,
Wenn man euch vor die Synagogen, Obrigkeiten und Behörden schleppt, so macht euch keine Sorge, wie oder womit ihr euch verteidigen oder was ihr sagen sollt;
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
der Heilige Geist wird euch in jener Stunde lehren, was ihr sagen sollt."
13 And a certain man out of the crowd said to him, Teacher, speak to my brother to divide the inheritance with me.
Da sagte zu ihm einer aus dem Volke: "Meister, sage meinem Bruder, er solle das Erbe mit mir teilen."
14 But he said to him, Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbitrator over you?
Er sprach zu ihm: "Mensch, wer hat denn mich zum Richter oder Erbteiler für euch bestellt?"
15 And he said to them, Watch, and keep away from greed, because to any man, life to him is not in the abundance of things possessed by him.
Dann sprach er zu ihnen: "Habt acht und hütet euch vor jeder Habsucht. Wenn einer auch im Überfluß hat, so hängt sein Leben doch nicht von seinem Vermögen ab."
16 And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The land of a certain rich man brought forth well.
Dann trug er ihnen ein Gleichnis vor: "Ein Reicher hatte einen Acker voll Frucht.
17 And he pondered within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have nowhere I will store my crops?
Da dachte er bei sich: 'Was soll ich tun? Ich habe keinen Raum, wo ich meine Ernte unterbringen kann.'
18 And he said, I will do this. I will dismantle my barns, and I will build greater, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
Er sprach: 'Das will ich tun: Ich breche meine Scheunen ab und baue größere; dort will ich meine ganze Ernte und meinen Besitz unterbringen.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou have many goods laid up for many years. Take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.
Ich will dann zu meiner Seele sagen: Meine Seele, jetzt hast du große Vorräte an Gütern für viele Jahre; nun setze dich zur Ruhe, iß und trink und laß dir's wohl sein. '
20 But God said to him, Thou foolish man, they demand thy soul from thee this night, and the things that thou prepared, whose will they be?
Gott aber sprach zu ihm: 'Du Tor! Noch in dieser Nacht wird man dein Leben von dir zurückfordern. Wem wird dann das gehören, was du aufgespeichert hast?'
21 So is he who stores up for himself, and is not being rich toward God.
So geht es dem, der für sich selber Schätze häuft, jedoch nicht bei Gott reich ist."
22 And he said to his disciples, Because of this I say to you, be not anxious for your life, what ye may eat, nor for the body, what ye may wear.
Alsdann sprach er zu seinen Jüngern: "Darum sage ich euch, sorgt nicht um das Leben, was ihr essen werdet, noch um den Leib, womit ihr ihn bekleiden sollt.
23 For the life is more than the food, and the body, the clothing.
Das Leben ist doch mehr wert als die Nahrung, der Leib mehr als die Kleidung.
24 Consider the ravens, because they do not sow, nor do they reap, for which there is no storehouse nor barn, and God feeds them. How much ye are worth more than the birds.
Betrachtet die Raben: Sie säen nicht, sie ernten nicht; sie haben keine Scheune und keinen Speicher: Gott ernährt sie. Wieviel mehr wert seid ihr als Vögel!
25 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his age?
Wer aus euch kann seine Lebenszeit mit seinen Sorgen nur um eine Elle verlängern?
26 If then ye are not able to do even the least, why are ye anxious about the rest?
Wenn also ihr nicht einmal Kleinigkeiten fertigbringt, was seid ihr dann ums Weitere so sehr besorgt?
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow. They toil not, nor do they spin, and I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.
Betrachtet die Lilien wie sie wachsen, sie spinnen nicht, und sie weben nicht. Doch sage ich euch: Nicht einmal Salomon in seiner ganzen Herrlichkeit war so gekleidet wie eine einzige aus ihnen.
28 And if God so clothes the grass in the field, which today is, and tomorrow being cast into the oven, how much more you, O ye of little faith?
Wenn nun Gott das Gras, das heute auf dem Felde steht und morgen schon im Ofen liegt, also kleidet, wieviel mehr dann euch, ihr Kleingläubigen!
29 And do not seek what ye may eat, and what ye may drink, and do not be unsettled.
So fragt denn nicht, was ihr essen oder trinken sollt; laßt euch nicht in Unruhe versetzen.
30 For the nations of the world seek all these things, and your Father knows that ye have need of these things.
Um all dies bekümmern sich die Heiden in der Welt draußen. Doch euer Vater weiß, daß ihr dies braucht.
31 However, seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.
Nur müßt ihr sein Reich suchen und seine Gerechtigkeit, dann wird euch jenes dazugegeben werden.
32 Fear not, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.
Fürchte dich nicht, du kleine Herde; es hat eurem Vater gefallen, euch das Reich zu geben.
33 Sell things possessed by you, and give charity. Make for yourselves purses not becoming old, a treasure unfailing in the heavens, where no thief approaches, nor moth corrupts.
Verkauft eure Habe und gebt Almosen davon. Verschafft euch Beutel, die sich nicht abnützen, einen unvergänglichen Schatz in den Himmeln, an den kein Dieb kommt und den die Motten nicht zerfressen
34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Denn wo euer Schatz ist, da ist auch euer Herz.
35 Let your loins be girded about, and the lights burning,
Eure Lenden seien umgürtet und eure Lampen brennend;
36 and be ye like men waiting for their lord, when he may return from the wedding festivities, so that when he comes and knocks, they may straightaway open to him.
ihr sollt Menschen gleichen, die auf ihren Herrn warten, bis er vom Hochzeitsfest heimkommt, um ihm sofort zu öffnen, wenn er kommt und klopft.
37 Blessed are those bondmen whom the lord when he comes will find watching. Truly I say to you, that he will gird himself, and will cause them to sit down, and having come, will serve them.
Wohl den Knechten, die der Herr bei seiner Ankunft wachend findet. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Er wird sich selbst umgürten, sie aber sitzen heißen, herumgehen und sie bedienen.
38 And if he should come in the second watch, and should come in the third watch, and find so, blessed are those bondmen.
Mag er zu der zweiten oder dritten Nachtwache kommen, trifft er sie also an, wohl ihnen!
39 But know this, that if the house-ruler had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
Doch dies bedenkt: Wenn der Hausherr wüßte, zu welcher Stunde der Dieb kommt, dann würde er wachen und nicht in sein Haus einbrechen lassen. So seid auch ihr bereit!
40 Therefore, ye also become ready, because the Son of man comes at that hour ye do not suppose.
Der Menschensohn kommt zu einer Stunde, da ihr es nicht vermutet."
41 And Peter said to him, Lord, did thou speak this parable to us, or also to all?
Da fragte Petrus: "Beziehst du dieses Gleichnis, Herr, auf uns oder auf alle?"
42 And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise manager whom his lord will appoint over his service to give the provision on time?
Der Herr sprach: "Wer ist der treue und verständige Verwalter, den der Herr über sein Gesinde setzen wird, auf daß er ihm zur rechten Zeit den Unterhalt darreiche?
43 Blessed is that bondman whom his lord when he comes will find so doing.
Wohl dem Knechte, den der Herr bei seiner Heimkehr also handelnd antrifft.
44 Truly I say to you, that he will appoint him over the things being possessed by him.
Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Er wird ihn zum Verwalter aller seiner Güter machen.
45 But if that bondman should say in his heart, My lord is late to come, and should begin to beat the servant boys and the servant girls, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken,
Doch würde jener Knecht bei sich denken: 'Mein Herr bleibt noch länger aus', und wenn er die Knechte und die Mägde verprügelt, wenn er essen, zechen und sich berauschen würde,
46 the lord of that bondman will arrive in a day that he does not expect, and in an hour that he is not aware, and will cut him in two, and will place his portion with the unbelieving.
alsdann wird der Herr eines solchen Knechtes an einem Tag erscheinen, da er es nicht erwartet, zu einer Stunde, die ihm nicht bekannt ist. Er wird ihn in Stücke hauen und ihm bei den Ungläubigen seinen Platz geben.
47 And that bondman who knew his lord's will, and who did not prepare, nor do according to his will, will be beaten much,
Und jener Knecht, der den Willen seines Herrn zwar kennt, doch keine Vorbereitung trifft, noch nach dem Willen seines Herrn handelt, wird viele Schläge erhalten.
48 but he who did not know, and did things worthy of blows, will be beaten little. And to every man to whom much was given, much will be required from him. And to whom they entrust much, they will ask him more abundantly.
Wer ihn aber nicht kennt und Dinge tat, die Schläge verdienen, wird weniger Schläge erhalten. Wem viel gegeben ist, von dem wird viel gefordert werden, und wem viel anvertraut ist, von dem wird man auch um so mehr verlangen.
49 I came to cast fire upon the earth, and what I desire is if it were kindled already.
Ich bin gekommen, Feuer auf die Erde zu werfen, und wie sehr wünschte ich, es loderte empor!
50 But I have an immersion to be immersed, and how am I constrained until it will be accomplished.
Doch muß ich eine Taufe empfangen, und wie drängt es mich, bis sie vollendet ist.
51 Do ye suppose that I came to give peace on the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.
Glaubt ihr, ich sei gekommen, Frieden in die Welt zu bringen?
52 For henceforth there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
Nein, ich sage euch, vielmehr Entzweiung. Es werden fortan fünf in ein und demselben Hause uneins sein: Drei gegen zwei und zwei gegen drei;
53 A father will be divided against a son, and a son against a father, a mother against a daughter, and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
der Vater gegen seinen Sohn, der Sohn gegen seinen Vater; die Mutter gegen ihre Tochter, die Tochter gegen ihre Mutter; die Schwiegermutter gegen ihre Schwiegertochter, die Schwiegertochter gegen ihre Schwiegermutter."
54 And he also said to the multitudes, When ye see a cloud rising from the west, straightaway ye say, A shower is coming, and so it happens.
Dann sprach er zu den Scharen: "Wenn ihr im Westen eine Wolke aufsteigen seht, dann sagt ihr sogleich: 'Nun gibt es Regen.' Und es trifft ein.
55 And when a south wind is blowing, ye say, There will be heat, and it happens.
Und weht der Südwind, dann sagt ihr: 'Nun wird es heiß.' Und es trifft zu.
56 Ye hypocrites, ye know how to examine the face of the earth and the sky, but how can ye not examine this season?
Ihr Heuchler! Die Zeichen an Himmel und Erde wißt ihr zu deuten; warum deutet ihr dann nicht die heutige Zeit?
57 And also why do ye not judge yourselves what is right?
Warum entscheidet ihr nicht von euch selbst, was recht ist?
58 For when thou go with thine opponent to the magistrate on the way give effort to be delivered from him, lest he may drag thee to the judge, and the judge may deliver thee to the officer, and the officer would cast thee into prison.
Während du mit deinem Gegner noch zur Obrigkeit hingehst, gib dir unterwegs noch Mühe, von ihm loszukommen. Sonst könnte er dich vor den Richter schleppen, der Richter dich dem Gerichtsdiener übergeben und der Gerichtsdiener dich ins Gefängnis werfen.
59 I say to thee, thou will, no, not come out from there, until thou have paid even the last mite.
Ich sage dir, du wirst von da nicht herauskommen, bevor du nicht den allerletzten Pfennig bezahlt hast."
