Joshua 2
1 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men as spies secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and Jericho. And they went and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab, and lay down there.
Y Josué hijo de Nun envió desde Setim dos espías secretamente, diciéndoles: Andád, considerád la tierra, y a Jericó. Los cuales fueron, y entráronse en casa de una mujer ramera que se llamaba Raab, y posaron allí.
2 And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, men came in here tonight of the sons of Israel to search out the land.
Y fue dado aviso al rey de Jericó, diciendo: He aquí que hombres de los hijos de Israel han venido aquí esta noche a espiar la tierra.
3 And the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men who came to thee, who have entered into thy house, for they have come to search out all the land.
Entonces el rey de Jericó envió a Raab, diciendo: Saca fuera los hombres que han venido a ti, y han entrado en tu casa; porque han venido a espiar toda la tierra:
4 And the woman took the two men, and hid them. And she said, Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know from where they were.
Mas la mujer había tomado los dos hombres, y los había escondido; y dijo: Verdad es que hombres vinieron a mí: mas yo no supe de donde eran.
5 And it came to pass about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I know not. Pursue after them quickly, for ye will overtake them.
Y siendo ya oscuro y cerrándose la puerta, esos hombres se salieron, y no sé donde se fueron: seguídlos a priesa, que alcanzarlos heis.
6 But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
Mas ella los había hecho subir a la techumbre, y los había escondido entre unos tascos de lino que tenía puestos sobre la techumbre.
7 And the men pursued after them the way to the Jordan to the fords, and as soon as those who pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
Y los hombres fueron tras ellos por el camino del Jordán hasta los vados: y la puerta fue cerrada después que salieron los que iban tras ellos.
8 And before they were laid down, she came up to them upon the roof.
Mas antes que ellos durmiesen, ella subió a ellos sobre la techumbre, y díjoles:
9 And she said to the men, I know that Jehovah has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us. And that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.
Yo sé que Jehová os ha dado esta tierra: porque el temor de vosotros ha caído sobre nosotros: y todos los moradores de la tierra están desmayados por causa de vosotros.
10 For we have heard how Jehovah dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when ye came out of Egypt, and what ye did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
Porque hemos oído que Jehová hizo secar las aguas del mar Bermejo delante de vosotros, cuando salisteis de la tierra de Egipto; y lo que habéis hecho a los dos reyes de los Amorreos, que estaban de esa parte del Jordán, Sejón, y Og, a los cuales destruisteis.
11 And as soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man because of you, for Jehovah your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.
Oyendo esto ha desmayado nuestro corazón; ni más ha quedado espíritu en alguno por causa de vosotros. Porque Jehová vuestro Dios, es Dios arriba en los cielos, y abajo en la tierra.
12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear to me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you, that ye also will deal kindly with my father's house, and give me a true token,
Ruégoos pues ahora, que me juréis por Jehová, que como yo he hecho misericordia con vosotros, así la haréis vosotros, con la casa de mi padre, de lo cual me daréis una cierta señal;
13 and that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.
Y que daréis la vida a mi padre y a mi madre; y a mis hermanos y hermanas, y a todo lo que es suyo; y que escaparéis nuestras vidas de la muerte.
14 And the men said to her, Our life for yours if ye do not utter this our business. And it shall be, when Jehovah gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
Y ellos le respondieron: Nuestra alma será por vosotros hasta la muerte, si no denunciareis este nuestro negocio: y cuando Jehová nos hubiere dado la tierra, nosotros haremos contigo misericordia y verdad.
15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window, for her house was upon the side of the wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.
Entonces ella los hizo descender con una cuerda por la ventana: porque su casa estaba a la pared del muro: y ella vivía en el muro.
16 And she said to them, Get you to the mountain lest the pursuers come upon you. And hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned, and afterward ye may go your way.
Y díjoles: Idos al monte: porque los que fueron tras vosotros, no os encuentren: y estád escondidos allá tres días, hasta que los que os siguen, hayan vuelto: y después os iréis vuestro camino.
17 And the men said to her, We will be guiltless of this thine oath which thou have made us to swear.
Y ellos le dijeron: Nosotros seremos desobligados de este tu juramento con que nos has conjurado, en esta manera:
18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shall bind this line of scarlet cord in the window which thou let us down by. And thou shall gather to thee into the house thy father, and thy mother, and thy brothers, and all thy father's household.
Que cuando nosotros entráremos la tierra, tú atarás esta cuerda de grana a la ventana por la cual nos descendiste, y tú juntarás en tu casa tu padre y tu madre, tus hermanos y toda la familia de tu padre.
19 And it shall be, that whoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we shall be guiltless. And whoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head if any hand be upon him.
Cualquiera que saliere fuera de las puertas de tu casa, su sangre será sobre su cabeza y nosotros seremos sin culpa. Mas cualquiera que se estuviere en casa contigo, su sangre será sobre nuestra cabeza si mano le tocare.
20 But if thou utter this our business, then we shall be guiltless of thine oath which thou have made us to swear.
Mas si tú denunciares este nuestro negocio, nosotros seremos desobligados de este tu juramento con que nos has juramentado.
21 And she said, According to your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed. And she bound the scarlet line in the window.
Y ella respondió: Como habéis dicho, así sea. Y así los envió, y se fueron; y ella ató la cuerda de grana a la ventana.
22 And they went, and came to the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned. And the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but did not find them.
Y caminando ellos llegaron al monte y estuviéronse allí tres días, hasta que los que les seguían, fuesen vueltos: y los que los siguieron, buscaron por todo el camino, mas no los hallaron.
23 Then the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. And they told him all that had befallen them.
Y tornándose los dos varones descendieron del monte, y pasaron, y vinieron a Josué hijo de Nun: y contáronle todas las cosas que les habían acontecido.
24 And they said to Joshua, Truly Jehovah has delivered into our hands all the land, and moreover all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.
Y dijeron a Josué: Jehová ha entregado toda la tierra en nuestras manos: y también todos los moradores de la tierra están desmayados delante de nosotros.
