< John 8 >

1 But Jesus went to the mount of Olives.
Yesu sane kɔɔ Ngo Bepɔ no so.
2 And at early morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. And having sat down, he taught them.
Adeɛ kyee anɔpa no, ɔsane baa asɔrefie. Nnipa bebree baa ne nkyɛn ma ɔhyɛɛ aseɛ kyerɛkyerɛɛ wɔn.
3 And the scholars and the Pharisees bring to him a woman taken in adultery. And having stood her in the midst,
Ɔgu so rekasa no, Yudafoɔ mpanin ne Farisifoɔ de ɔbaa bi a wɔkyeree no sɛ ɔrebɔ adwaman baa nʼanim.
4 tempting, they say to him, Teacher, we found this woman committing adultery, in the act.
Wɔka kyerɛɛ Yesu sɛ, “Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ, yɛkyeree ɔbaa yi sɛ ɔrebɔ adwaman,
5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us such women are to be stoned. What therefore do thou say about her?
nanso Mose mmara hyɛ yɛn sɛ, ɔbaa biara a wɔbɛkyere no saa ɛkwan no so no, ɛsɛ sɛ wɔsi no aboɔ. Ɛdeɛn na woka wɔ ho?”
6 But they said this, trying him, so that they might have an accusation against him. But Jesus having stooped down, wrote on the ground with his finger, not pretending.
Wɔbisaa no yei de sum no afidie sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a wɔbɛnya asɛm bi agyina so atoto nʼano. Nanso, Yesu bɔɔ ne mu ase de ne nsateaa twerɛtwerɛɛ fam.
7 And when they continued asking him, after standing erect, he said to them, Let the innocent man of you first cast the stone at her.
Wɔgu so rebisabisa no nsɛm no, ɔmaa ne mu so ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Mo mu biara a ɔnyɛɛ bɔne da no, nni ɛkan nto boɔ mmɔ no.”
8 And again having stooped down, he wrote on the ground.
Ɔsane bɔɔ ne mu ase twerɛtwerɛɛ fam.
9 And they, having heard and being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, having begun from the elder until the last. And Jesus was left behind alone, and the woman being in the midst.
Nnipa no tee asɛm a Yesu kaeɛ no, wɔhyɛɛ aseɛ firii hɔ mmaako mmaako firi mpanin no so. Ɛkaa Yesu ne ɔbaa no nko ara.
10 And Jesus, after standing erect, and having seen no man but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those accusers of thee? Did no man condemn thee?
Yesu maa ne mu so no, ɔbisaa ɔbaa no sɛ, “Nnipa a wɔde wo baeɛ no wɔ he? Wɔn mu baako mpo nni ha a ɔbɛka asɛm bi atia wo?”
11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn thee. Go, and henceforth sin no more.
Ɔbaa no buaa Yesu sɛ, “Dabi, Owura.” Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Sɛ saa na ɛte deɛ a, ɛnneɛ me nso menni asɛm biara a mɛka de atia wo. Kɔ, na nkɔyɛ bɔne bio.”
12 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows me would, no, not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.
Yesu sane toaa ne kasa no so ka kyerɛɛ nnipa no sɛ, “Mene ewiase hann no. Obiara a ɔdi mʼakyi no rennante sum mu da, na ɔbɛnya hann a ɛkyerɛ nnipa ɛkwan ma wɔkɔ nkwa mu.”
13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, Thou testify about thyself. Thy testimony is not valid.
Farisifoɔ no tee asɛm a Yesu kaeɛ no, wɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Asɛm a woreka yi, yɛrennye nto mu, ɛfiri sɛ, wo ara na woredi wo ho adanseɛ.”
14 Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I might testify about myself, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I go, but ye do not know where I come from and where I go.
Yesu nso buaa wɔn sɛ, “Sɛ me ara meredi me ho adanseɛ mpo a, asɛm a meka no yɛ nokorɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, menim faako a mefiri baeɛ ne faako a merekɔ. Na mo deɛ, monnim faako a mefiri baeɛ ne faako nso a merekɔ.
15 Ye judge according to the flesh. I judge no man.
Mo ankasa mode mo adwene na ɛbu atɛn na me deɛ, memmu obiara atɛn.
16 But even if I judge, my judgment is valid, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me.
Nanso, sɛ ɛba sɛ ɛsɛ sɛ mebu atɛn a, mʼatemmuo bɛyɛ atɛntenenee, ɛfiri sɛ, ɛnyɛ me nko na mɛbu atɛn; Agya a ɔsomaa me no ka me ho.
17 And also it is written in your law that the testimony of two men is valid.
Wɔatwerɛ wɔ mo mmara mu sɛ, sɛ adansefoɔ baanu adanseɛ hyia a, na ɛkyerɛ sɛ wɔn adanseɛ no yɛ nokorɛ.
18 I am he who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.
Medi me ho adanseɛ na mʼAgya a ɔsomaa me no nso di me ho adanseɛ.”
19 They said therefore to him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me, nor my Father. If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.
Nnipa no bisaa no sɛ, “Ɛhe na wʼAgya no wɔ?” Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Monnim me, na monnim mʼAgya no nso. Sɛ monim me a, anka mobɛhunu mʼAgya no nso.”
20 Jesus spoke these sayings in the treasury as he taught in the temple, and no man seized him, because his hour had not yet come.
Yesu kaa yeinom nyinaa ɛberɛ a na ɔrekyerɛkyerɛ wɔ asɔredan no mu sikakorabea hɔ no. Obiara antumi amfa ne nsa anka no, ɛfiri sɛ, na ne berɛ a ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkyere no no nnuruiɛ.
21 Jesus therefore again said to them, I go, and ye will seek me, and ye will die in your sin. Where I go, ye cannot come.
Yesu sane ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Mɛfiri mo nkyɛn makɔ; mobɛhwehwɛ me, na morenhunu me. Na mo deɛ, mobɛwu wɔ mo mu. Faako a merekɔ no morentumi mma hɔ bi.”
22 The Jews therefore said, Will he kill himself, because he says, Where I go, ye cannot come?
Yudafoɔ no bisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Ɛhe na ɔrekɔ a ɔse ‘obi rentumi nkɔ hɔ bi no?’ Gyama ɔrekɔkum ne ho?”
23 And he said to them, Ye are from below, I am from above. Ye are of this world, I am not of this world.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mo deɛ, mofiri asase so ha, nanso me deɛ, mefiri ɔsoro na mebaeɛ. Mo deɛ, mofiri ewiase, nanso me deɛ, memfiri ewiase,
24 I said therefore to you that ye will die in your sins. For unless ye believe that I am he, ye will die in your sins.
Ɛno enti na meka kyerɛ mo sɛ mobɛwu wɔ mo bɔne mu no. Na sɛ moannye anni sɛ, mene deɛ mene a, mobɛwu wɔ mo bɔne mu.”
25 They said therefore to him, Who are thou? And Jesus said to them, The beginning, something that I am even telling you.
Wɔbisaa no sɛ, “Wo koraa, wone hwan?” Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mene deɛ daa meka kyerɛ mo sɛ meyɛ.
26 I have many things to say and to judge about you. But he who sent me is true, and I speak to the world these things that I heard from him.
Mewɔ mo ho nsɛm pii a anka mɛka atia mo. Nanso, deɛ ɔsomaa me no yɛ ɔnokwafoɔ na asɛm a meka no yɛ deɛ mate afiri ne nkyɛn.”
27 They did not understand that he spoke the Father to them.
Nnipa no ante no aseɛ sɛ nʼagya ho asɛm na ɔreka akyerɛ wɔn no.
28 Jesus therefore said to them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then ye will know that I am he, and I do nothing from myself, but I speak these things as my Father taught me.
Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Sɛ monya ma Onipa Ba no so wɔ asɛnnua no so a, na mobɛhunu sɛ, mene deɛ mene no, na afei mobɛhunu bio sɛ memfiri me ara me pɛ mu nyɛ biribiara, na mmom, deɛ Agya no somaa me sɛ menka no nko ara na meka.
29 And he who sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, because I always do things pleasing to him.
Deɛ ɔsomaa me no ka me ho daa. Ɔnnyaa me da, ɛfiri sɛ, meyɛ deɛ ɛsɔ nʼani.”
30 As he spoke these things of him, many believed in him.
Nnipa a wɔtee deɛ Yesu kaeɛ no mu dodoɔ no ara gyee no diiɛ.
31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews who believed him, If ye remain in my word, ye are truly my disciples,
Yesu ka kyerɛɛ Yudafoɔ a wɔgyee no diiɛ no sɛ, “Sɛ modi me nsɛm so a, moyɛ mʼasuafoɔ.
32 and ye will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
Ɛno ansa na mobɛhunu nokorɛ no na nokorɛ no bɛma mo ade mo ho.”
33 They answered to him, We are Abraham's seed, and have been in bondage to no man, ever. How can thou say, Ye will become free?
Nnipa no buaa no sɛ, “Yɛn deɛ yɛyɛ Abraham asefoɔ. Yɛnkɔɔ nkoasom mu da, na ɛyɛ dɛn na woka sɛ wobɛma yɛade yɛn ho?”
34 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, that every man who does the sin is a bondman of the sin.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mereka nokorɛ akyerɛ mo sɛ obiara a ɔyɛ bɔne no yɛ bɔne akoa.
35 And the bondman does not remain in the house into the age. The Son remains into the age. (aiōn g165)
Akoa biara nni kyɛfa wɔ abusua mu nanso ɔba deɛ, daa ɔwɔ kyɛfa wɔ abusua mu. (aiōn g165)
36 If therefore the Son should make you free, ye will truly be free.
Ɛno enti, sɛ ɔba no ma mode mo ho a, mobɛde mo ho ampa.
37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed, yet ye seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.
Megye tom sɛ moyɛ Abraham asefoɔ nanso morehwehwɛ me akum me, ɛfiri sɛ, monni ne nkyerɛkyerɛ so.
38 I speak what I have seen from my Father, and ye therefore do what ye have seen from your father.
Deɛ mʼAgya ayi akyerɛ me no na meka ho asɛm, na mo deɛ, deɛ mo agya aka akyerɛ mo no na modi so.”
39 They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says to them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
Nnipa no kaa sɛ, “Yɛn agya ne Abraham.” Yesu nso ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Moyɛ Abraham asefoɔ ampa a, anka ne nnwuma a ɔyɛeɛ no bi pɛpɛɛpɛ na mobɛyɛ.
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
Deɛ mayɛ ne sɛ maka nokorɛ a mote firii Agya no nkyɛn akyerɛ mo, nanso mohwehwɛ me akum me. Abraham anyɛ biribi a ɛte sɛ yei.
41 Ye do the works of your father. They said therefore to him, We were not begotten from fornication. We have one Father, God.
Moreyɛ deɛ mo agya yɛeɛ.” Nnipa no sane kaa sɛ, “Onyankopɔn nko ara ne Agya a yɛwɔ na yɛyɛ ne mma ankasa.”
42 Therefore Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, ye would love me, for I came forth and have come from God. For, neither have I come for myself, but he sent me.
Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Sɛ Onyankopɔn yɛ mo Agya ampa ara a anka mobɛdɔ me, ɛfiri sɛ, ne nkyɛn na mefiri baeɛ na mewɔ ha. Mamfiri me pɛ mu na mebaeɛ; ɔno na ɔsomaa me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? Because ye cannot hear my word.
Adɛn enti na monte nsɛm a mereka yi ase? Ɛfiri sɛ, mompɛ sɛ mote aseɛ.
44 Ye are from the father, the devil, and ye want to do the desires of your father. He was a man-killer from the beginning, and he has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, because he is a liar, and the father of it.
Mo deɛ, ɔbonsam ne mo agya, na mopɛ sɛ moyɛ nneɛma a ɔyɛ no nso bi. Ɔyɛ owudifoɔ firi ahyɛaseɛ. Ɔnni nokorɛ da, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔnyɛ ɔnokwafoɔ. Sɛ ɔdi atorɔ a, ɛnyɛ nwanwa ɛfiri sɛ, ɔyɛ ɔtorofoɔ ne atorɔ agya.
45 And I, because I speak the truth, ye do not believe me.
Nanso me deɛ, ɛsiane sɛ meka nokorɛ enti na monnye me nni no.
46 Which of you convicts me about sin? And if I speak truth, why do ye not believe me?
Mo mu hwan na ɔbɛtumi aka sɛ medi bɔne bi ho fɔ? Sɛ meka nokorɛ a, adɛn enti na monnye me nni?
47 He who is of God hears the sayings of God. Because of this ye do not hear, because ye are not of God.
Obiara a ɔfiri Onyankopɔn mu no tie Onyankopɔn asɛm. Na mo deɛ, ɛsiane sɛ momfiri Onyankopɔn mu no enti na montie nʼasɛm no.”
48 Therefore the Jews answered and said to him, Do we not say well that thou are a Samaritan, and have a demon?
Yudafoɔ no bisaa Yesu sɛ, “Sɛ yɛka sɛ woyɛ Samariani a honhommɔne ahyɛ wo ma a, na yɛboa anaa?”
49 Jesus answered, I have no demon, but I honor my Father, and ye dishonor me.
Yesu buaa sɛ, “Menni honhommɔne. Medi mʼAgya ni na mo deɛ monni no ni.
50 But I seek not my own glory. He is who seeks and judges.
Memmpere nhwehwɛ animuonyam mma mʼankasa me ho. Obi wɔ hɔ a ɔhwehwɛ ma me na ɔno nso na ɔdi ma me.
51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if any man keeps my word, he will, no, not see death, into the age. (aiōn g165)
Meka nokorɛ pefee kyerɛ mo sɛ, obiara a ɔdi mʼasɛm so no renwu da.” (aiōn g165)
52 The Jews therefore said to him, Now we know that thou have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets, and thou say, If any man keeps my word, he will, no, not taste of death, into the age. (aiōn g165)
Yudafoɔ no nso ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Afei na yɛahunu ampa ara sɛ wowɔ honhommɔne! Abraham wuiɛ. Adiyifoɔ no nso wuwuiɛ. Nanso, wo deɛ woka sɛ, ‘Obiara a ɔdi mʼasɛm so no renwu da.’ (aiōn g165)
53 Are thou greater than our father Abraham who died? And the prophets died. Who do thou make thyself?
Woyɛ kɛse sene yɛn agya Abraham anaa? Ɔwuiɛ; saa ara nso na adiyifoɔ no wuwuiɛ. Wosusu sɛ woyɛ hwan?”
54 Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. My Father is he who glorifies me, of whom ye say, He is our God.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Sɛ mʼankasa mehyɛ me ho animuonyam a, mʼanimuonyam no nka hwee. MʼAgya a mo nso moka sɛ ɔyɛ mo Onyankopɔn no, ɔno na ɔhyɛ me animuonyam.
55 And ye do not know him, but I know him. And if I should say that I do not know him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word.
Mo deɛ, monnim no, nanso me deɛ, menim no. Sɛ meka sɛ mennim no a na meyɛ ɔtorofoɔ sɛ mo ara. Menim no na madi nʼasɛm nso so.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he could see my day, and he saw it, and was glad.
Mo agya Abraham ani gyee sɛ ɔbɛhunu me ba a mɛba no. Ɔhunuiɛ na nʼani gyeeɛ.”
57 The Jews therefore said to him, Thou have not yet fifty years, and thou have seen Abraham?
Yudafoɔ no nso bisaa no sɛ, “Wonnii mfeɛ aduonum koraa na ɛyɛɛ dɛn na wohunuu Abraham?”
58 Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I am.
Yesu buaa sɛ, “Mereka nokorɛ pefee akyerɛ mo sɛ, ansa na wɔrebɛwo Abraham no, na mete ase.”
59 Therefore they took up stones so that they might throw at him, but Jesus was hid, and went out of the temple, having passed through the midst of them, and thus passed on.
Yudafoɔ no tasee aboɔ sɛ anka wɔde rebɛsi no, nanso Yesu kɔhintaeɛ. Yei akyi no, ɔfirii asɔredan no mu hɔ kɔeɛ.
