< John 18 >
1 After speaking these things, Jesus went forth with his disciples on the other side of the brook Kidron, where there was a garden into which he entered, he and his disciples.
Yesuusi woossaa onggidaappe guye ba tamaaretara Qediroona zanggaara pinnidi, he bessan de7iya atakilttiya giddo gelidosona.
2 Now Judas, the man betraying him, had also known the place, because Jesus also often gathered there with his disciples.
Yesuusi ubba wode ba tamaaretara yan shiiqiya gisho Yesuusa aathi immida Yihudi he bessaa erees.
3 Judas therefore having received the band and subordinates from the chief priests and the Pharisees, comes there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
Hessa gisho, Yihudi paanose, xomppe, tooranne gonddalle oykkida daro wotaaddareta, kahine halaqatinne Farisaaweti kiittida Xoossa Keetha naagiya pooliseta kaalethi ekkidi, he bessaa bis.
4 Jesus therefore knowing all the things that were coming upon him, after going forth, he says to them, Whom seek ye?
Yesuusi bana gakkana haniyabaa ubbaa eridi, gaxa keyidi, “Oona koyeetii?” yaagis.
5 They answered him, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus says to them, I am he. And Judas, the man betraying him had also stood with them.
Entti zaaridi, “Naazirete Yesuusa koyoos” yaagidosona. I zaaridi, “Taani Yesuusa” yaagis. Yesuusa aathi immida Yihudi yan enttara eqqis.
6 When therefore he said to them, I am he, they went backward and fell to the ground.
I, “Taani Yesuusa” gida wode entti guye shiiqidi, sa7an kunddidosona.
7 Again therefore he questioned them, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus the Nazarene.
Yesuusi qassika, “Oona koyeetii?” yaagidi oychchis. Entti, “Naazirete Yesuusa koyoos” yaagidosona.
8 Jesus answered, I told you that I am. If therefore ye seek me, allow these men to go,
I zaaridi, “Taani Yesuusa gideyssa hinttew odas. Hiza, hintte tana koyabaa gidikko hayssata yeddite” yaagis.
9 so that the word that he spoke might be fulfilled, Of whom thou have given me, I lost, no, not one of them.
I hessa giday, “Aawaw, neeni taw immidayssatappe hari attoshin issuwaka dhayssabiikke” gidayssi polettana melassa.
10 Simon Peter therefore, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's bondman, and cut off his right ear. Now the servant's name was Malchus.
Simoon Phexiroosas bisoy de7ees. I he bisuwa shoddidi kahine halaqaa aylliyas ushachcha haytha shocidi, qanxi yeggis. He aylliya sunthay Malkkoosa.
11 Jesus therefore said to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath. The cup that the Father has given me, shall I, no, not drink it?
Yesuusi Phexiroosakko, “Ne bisuwa shoohuwan zaara. Ta Aaway taw immida xuu7appe taani uyonnabaa new daanii?” yaagis.
12 So the band, and the chief captain, and the subordinates of the Jews, arrested Jesus and bound him,
Roome wotaaddaretinne entta halaqay Xoossa Keetha naagiya poolisetara issife Yesuusa oykkidi qachchidosona.
13 and led him away first to Annas. For he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
Koyro Yesuusa Haannako efidosona. Haanni he laythi kahine halaqa gidiya Qayyaafa bollo.
14 Now Caiaphas was the man who counseled the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people.
Qayyaafi, “Asa ubbaa gisho, issi asi hayqqiko lo77o” gidi kase Ayhudeta zoridayssa.
15 And Simon Peter followed Jesus, also the other disciple. But that disciple was known to the high priest, and he went in with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.
Simoon Phexiroosinne hara issi tamaarey Yesuusa kaallidi bidosona. Kahine halaqay he hara tamaariya loythi erees. Hessa gisho, I Yesuusara kahine halaqaa zabbaa gelis.
16 But Peter had stood near the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought in Peter.
Shin Phexiroosi karera dirssaa penggen eqqis. Kahine halaqay eriya hara tamaarey kare keyidi, penggiya naagiya na7ees odidi, Phexiroosa gaathi gelssis.
17 Therefore the servant girl (the doorkeeper) says to Peter, Are thou not also of this man's disciples? That man says, I am not.
Penggiya naagiya na7iya Phexiroosakko, “Neeni, addiya tamaaretappe issuwa gidikkii?” yaagasu. Phexiroosi zaaridi, “Akkay, taani gidikke” yaagis.
18 Now the bondmen and the subordinates had stood, having made a fire of coals because it was cold, and they were warming themselves. And Peter was also standing with them warming himself.
Sa7ay meeggiya gisho, aylletinne naageyssati xiifa tama eethidi, yuuyi aadhdhi eqqidi kayosona. Phexiroosikka enttara eqqidi tama kayees.
19 The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his doctrine.
Kahine halaqay Yesuusa, iya tamaaretabaanne iya timirttiyabaa oychchis.
20 Jesus answered him, I spoke in public to the world. I always taught in a synagogue, and in the temple where the Jews always gather together, and I spoke nothing in secret.
Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani asa ubbaas qonccen odas. Taani Ayhude ubbay shiiqiya Ayhude Woosa Keethaninne Xoossa Keethan ubba wode tamaarssas. Geeman aykkoka odabiikke.
21 Why question thou me? Question those who have heard what I said to them. Behold, these know the things that I said.
Yaatin, neeni tana ays oychchay? Ta odishin si7ida asaa oychcha. He asay taani odididayssa eroosona” yaagis.
22 And when he said these things, one of the subordinates standing by gave a slap to Jesus, saying, Answer thou the high priest this way?
Yesuusi hessa gida wode, he bessan eqqida wotaaddaretappe issoy Yesuusa baqqidi, “Kahine halaqaa bolla hayssada zaaray?” yaagis.
23 Jesus answered him, If I spoke wrongly, testify about the wrong, but if correctly, why strike me?
Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani iitabaa odidabaa gidikko hayssan de7iya asa ubbaa sinthan oda. Shin taani tuma odidabaa gidikko tana ays baqqay?” yaagis.
24 Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
Hessa gisho, Haanni, Yesuusi qashettida mela kahine halaqaa Qayyaafakko yeddis.
25 Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. Therefore they said to him, Are thou not also of his disciples? That man therefore denied, and said, I am not.
Phexiroosi yan eqqidi, tama kayishin, harati iyaakko, “Neeni ha addiya tamaaretappe issuwa gidikkii?” yaagis. Phexiroosi zaaridi, “Akkay, taani gidikke” yaagidi kaddis.
26 One of the bondmen of the high priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, says, Did I not see thee in the garden with him?
Kahine halaqaa aylletappe issoy, Phexiroosi haythaa qanxida addiya dabboy, Phexiroosakko, “Taani nena iyara atakilttiya giddon be7abiikkina?” yaagidi oychchis.
27 Peter therefore denied again, and straightaway a cock sounded.
Phexiroosi qassika kaddis. Sohuwara kuttoy waassi aggis.
28 They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas to the Praetorium. And it was early, and they did not enter into the Praetorium, so that they would not be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.
Wontta guura, entti Yesuusa Qayyaafa sooppe deriya haareyssa ooso keethi ekki efidosona. Ayhudeti Faasika Baale kathaa maanaw banttana tunisonna mela deriya haareyssa ooso keethaa gelibookkona.
29 Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, What accusation do ye bring against this man?
Hessa gisho, Philaaxoosi enttako kare keyidi, “Ha addiya ays mooteetii?” yaagis.
30 They answered and said to him, If this man were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered him up to thee.
Entti, “I iita oothonnabaa gidiyakko nuuni iya neekko ehokko” yaagidosona.
31 Pilate therefore said to them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him, It is not permitted for us to kill any man,
Philaaxoosi zaaridi, “Hintte iya ekki efidi, hintte higgey geyssada iya bolla pirddite” yaagis. Ayhudeti, “Oonakka wodhiya maati nuus baawa” yaagidosona;
32 so that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled that he spoke, signifying what kind of death he was going to die.
Hessi haniday Yesuusi ay mela hayqo hayqqaneekko erisanaw odidayssi polettanaassa.
33 Pilate therefore again entered into the Praetorium, and called Jesus, and said to him, Are thou the king of the Jews?
Philaaxoosi ba ooso keetha zaari gelidi, Yesuusa xeegidi, “Neeni Ayhude kawo?” yaagidi oychchis.
34 Jesus answered, Do thou say this of thyself, or did others tell thee about me?
Yesuusi Philaaxoosa, “Ha oysha neeni neeppe oychchayye woykko hara asi new tabaa odidee?” yaagis.
35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests delivered thee to me. What have thou done?
Philaaxoosi zaaridi, “Ta Ayhude asi? Ne asaynne kahine halaqati nena taw aathi immidosona. Ne ay oothadii?” yaagis.
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world my subordinates would have fought so that I would not be delivered to the Jews, but now my kingdom is not from here.
Yesuusi, “Ta kawotethay ha alamiyana gidenna. I hayssan gidiyakko ta Ayhudeta halaqatas aadhdha imettonna mela ta aylleti taw olettana. Shin ta kawotethay ha alamiyana gidenna” yaagis.
37 Pilate therefore said to him, Then thou are a king? Jesus answered, Thou say that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I would testify to the truth. Every man who is of the truth hears my voice.
Hessa gisho, Philaaxoosi Yesuusakko, “Yaatin, neeni kawoyye?” yaagidi oychchis. Yesuusi zaaridi, “Tuma ta kawo gideyssa ne gadasa. Taani yelettidaynne ha alamiya yiday tumatethaas markkattanassa. Tumaa bagga gidida oonikka taani geyssa si7ees” yaagis.
38 Pilate says to him, What is truth? And having said this, he went out again to the Jews, and says to them, I find not one cause in him.
Philaaxoosi, “Tumi aybee?” yaagis. Philaaxoosi hessa gidaappe guye Ayhudetakko kare keyidi, “Taani iyappe ay iitakka demmabiikke.
39 But there is a custom for you that I should release to you one man at the Passover. Do ye wish therefore I would release to you the king of the Jews?
Shin Faasika Baale gallas, issi ase hinttew qashoppe billiya meezey de7ees. Taani hinttew Ayhudeta kawuwa billana mela koyeetii?” yaagis.
40 They all cried out again therefore, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. But Barabbas was a robber.
Entti zaaridi, bantta qaalaa dhoqqu oothidi, “Barbbaana billafe attin iya gidenna” yaagidosona. Shin Barbbaani pangga.
