< John 13 >
1 Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, having seen that his hour has come that he would depart out of this world to his Father, having loved his own in the world, he loved them to the end.
Ku lunaku olukulembera Embaga ey’Okuyitako, Yesu yamanya ng’ekiseera kye kituuse ave mu nsi muno agende eri Kitaawe. Yesu bwe yayagala ababe mu nsi, yabalagira ddala okwagala kwe kwonna okutuusiza ddala ku kiseera ekisembayo.
2 And supper having occurred, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, that he would betray him,
Bwe baali balya ekyekiro, Setaani yali yamaze dda okuteeka mu mutima gwa Yuda Isukalyoti, omwana wa Simooni, ekirowoozo eky’okulya mu Yesu olukwe.
3 Jesus, having seen that the Father has given all the things to him, into his hands, and that he came from God, and goes to God,
Yesu bwe yamanya nti Kitaawe yateeka byonna mu mikono gye, era nga yava wa Katonda ate gy’adda,
4 rises from supper, and set his garments aside, and after taking a towel, he girded himself.
n’asituka ku mmere, ne yeggyako omunagiro gwe, ne yeesiba ettawulo mu kiwato,
5 Then he pours water into the wash-basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.
n’ateeka amazzi mu bensani, n’atandika okunaaza abayigirizwa be ebigere nga bw’abasiimuuza ettawulo gye yali yeesibye.
6 So he comes to Simon Peter, and that man says to him, Lord, do thou wash my feet?
Bwe yatuuka ku Simooni Peetero, Peetero n’amugamba nti, “Mukama wange, ggwe onnaaze ebigere?”
7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou do not know now, but thou will understand after these things.
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Ensonga enkozesa kino togimanyi kaakano, wabula ekiseera kirituuka n’ogitegeera.”
8 Peter says to him, Thou may, no, not wash my feet into the age. Jesus answered him, If I may not wash thee, thou have no part with me. (aiōn )
Peetero n’amuddamu nti, “Nedda, tolinnaaza bigere emirembe gyonna.” Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Bwe siikunaaze bigere, nga tossa kimu nange.” (aiōn )
9 Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and head.
Simooni Peetero n’amugamba nti, “Mukama wange, tonnaaza bigere byokka, naye nnaaza n’emikono n’omutwe.”
10 Jesus says to him, He who is bathed has no need to wash the feet either, but is entirely clean. And ye are clean, but not all.
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Anaabye omubiri, aba teyeetaaga kunaaba okuggyako ebigere byokka, alyoke abe omulongoofu. Kaakano muli balongoofu, naye si mwenna.”
11 For he knew the man betraying him. Because of this he said, Ye are not all clean.
Kubanga Yesu yamanya anaamulyamu olukwe. Kyeyava agamba nti, “Si mwenna abalongoofu.”
12 When therefore he washed their feet, and took his garments, having sat down again, he said to them, Do ye understand what I have done to you?
Yesu bwe yamala okubanaaza ebigere n’ayambala omunagiro gwe, n’addayo n’atuula, n’abagamba nti, “Kye mbakoze mukitegedde?
13 Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord. And ye say well, for I am.
Mmwe mumpita Muyigiriza era Mukama wammwe, mukola bulungi okumpita bwe mutyo kubanga ddala bwe ntyo bwe ndi.
14 If I then, the Lord and the teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash each other's feet.
Kale Nze Mukama wammwe era Omuyigiriza, nga bwe mbanaazizza ebigere, nammwe musaana okunaazagananga ebigere.
15 For I have given you an example, so that just as I have done to you ye also should do.
Mbalaze ekyokulabirako, mukolenga nga Nze bwe mbakoze.
16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a bondman is not greater than his lord, nor is an apostle greater than he who sent him.
Ddala ddala mbagamba nti, Omuddu tasinga mukama we. Era n’oyo atumibwa tasinga oli amutumye.
17 If ye have seen these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.
Bwe mumanya ebintu bino muba n’omukisa bwe mubikola.
18 I speak not about you all. I have seen whom I chose, but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He who eats bread with me lifted up his heel against me.
Ebintu bino byonna sibyogera nammwe mwenna, buli omu ku mmwe be nalonda mmumanyi; ekyawandiikibwa kituukirire ekigamba nti, ‘Oyo bwe tulya emmere anneefuukidde!’
19 From henceforth I tell you before it happens, so that when it happens, ye may believe that I am.
Kino nkibategeeza okuva kaakano, nga tekinnabaawo, bwe kinaabaawo mulyoke munzikirize.
20 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any man whomever I may send, receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.
Ddala ddala mbagamba nti buli asembeza gwe ntuma, ng’asembezezza Nze, era asembeza Nze ng’asembezezza oyo eyantuma.”
21 Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in the spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of you will betray me.
Yesu bwe yamala okwogera ebyo n’alumwa nnyo mu mwoyo, n’agamba nti, “Ddala ddala mbagamba, omu ku mmwe anandyamu olukwe.”
22 Therefore the disciples looked at each other, being uncertain about whom he speaks.
Abayigirizwa ne batunulaganako, nga tebamanyidde ddala gw’ayogerako.
23 And one of his disciples whom Jesus loved was sitting at Jesus' bosom.
Omu ku bayigirizwa, Yesu gwe yayagalanga, yali agalamidde okumpi n’ekifuba kya Yesu,
24 Simon Peter therefore gestured to this man to inquire whoever he may be about whom he speaks.
Simooni Peetero n’amutemyako ng’amugamba nti, “Mutubuulize gw’ayogerako.”
25 And that man, having leaned thus toward Jesus' breast, says to him, Lord, who is he?
Kale bwe yaddayo okugalamira ng’aliraanye ekifuba kya Yesu, n’amubuuza nti, “Mukama waffe, gw’oyogerako ye ani?”
26 Jesus replies, He is that man to whom I, having dipped the morsel, will give. And when he dipped the morsel, he gives it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
Yesu n’addamu nti, “Gwe nnaakoleza ekitole ne nkimuwa nga ye wuuyo.” Awo n’akwata ekitole, n’akikoza n’akiwa Yuda Isukalyoti omwana wa Simooni.
27 And after the morsel, then Satan entered into that man. Jesus therefore says to him, What thou do, do more quickly.
Yuda bwe yamala okuweebwa ekitole ekyo, Setaani n’amuyingiramu. Awo Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Ky’okola kikole mangu!”
28 But no man who was sitting knew why he said this to him.
Ku baali balya tewaali n’omu eyategeera kyeyava amugamba bw’atyo.
29 For some thought, since Judas had the purse, that Jesus said to him, Buy what things we have need of for the feast, or that he should give something to the poor.
Abamu baalowooza nti nga Yuda bwe yali atereka ensimbi, Yesu amugambye agende agule bye beetaaga ku mbaga, oba nti abeeko by’agabira abaavu.
30 Therefore having received the morsel, straightaway that man went out, and it was night.
Yuda olwafuna ekitole, amangwago n’afuluma ebweru; obudde bwali kiro.
31 When he went out, Jesus says, Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.
Yuda olwafuluma, Yesu n’agamba nti, “Kaakano Omwana w’Omuntu agulumizibbwa ne Katonda agulumizibbwa mu ye.
32 If God is glorify in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him straightaway.
Era obanga Katonda agulumizibbwa mu ye, Katonda yeegulumiza ye yennyini, era amangwago ajja kumugulumiza.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, Where I go, ye cannot come, I also now say to you.
“Baana bange, akaseera katono ke nkyali nammwe. Mulinnoonya era nga bwe nagamba Abayudaaya nti, ‘Gye ŋŋenda mmwe temuyinza kujjayo,’ era nammwe bwe mbagamba kaakano.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that ye should love each other, just as I loved you, so that ye also should love each other.
“Mbawa ekiragiro ekiggya: Mwagalanenga nga nze bwe mbaagala.
35 By this all men will know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love among each other.
Bwe munaayagalananga abantu bonna kwe banaategeereranga nti muli bayigirizwa bange.”
36 Simon Peter says to him, Lord, where do thou go? Jesus answered him, Where I go, thou cannot follow me now, but thou will follow me afterwards.
Awo Simooni Peetero n’amubuuza nti, “Mukama waffe olaga wa?” Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Tosobola kugenda nange kaakano, wabula olingoberera oluvannyuma.”
37 Peter said to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.
Peetero n’amubuuza nti, “Mukama wange, lwaki siyinza kukugoberera kaakano? Nnaawaayo obulamu bwange ku lulwo.”
38 Jesus answered him, Will thou lay down thy life for me? Truly, truly, I say to thee, A cock will, no, not sound, until thou will deny me thrice.
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Onoowaayo obulamu bwo ku lwange? Ddala ddala nkugamba nti, Enkoko eneeba tennakookolima, ononneegaana emirundi esatu.”
