Joel 2
1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. For the day of Jehovah comes, for it is near at hand,
૧સિયોનમાં રણશિંગડું વગાડો, અને મારા પવિત્ર પર્વત પર ભયસૂચક નગારું વગાડો. દેશના સર્વ રહેવાસીઓ, તમે કાંપો કેમ કે યહોવાહનો દિવસ આવે છે; તે દિવસ તદ્દન નજીક આવી પહોંચ્યો છે.
2 a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spreads upon the mountains, a great people and a strong, there has not ever been the like, nor shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.
૨અંધકાર અને વિષાદનો દિવસ, વાદળ અને અંધકારનો દિવસ. તે દિવસ પર્વતો પર દેખાતાં ઝળઝળાં જેવો થશે. એવું પહેલાં કદી બન્યું નથી કે, હવે પછી ઘણી પેઢીઓ સુધી, બીજી કોઈ પેઢીઓમાં કદી થશે નહિ, એવી મોટી તથા બળવાન પ્રજા આવશે.
3 A fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness. Yea, and none has escaped them.
૩અગ્નિ તેઓની આગળ ભસ્મ કરે છે, અને તેઓની પાછળ જ્વાળાઓ બળે છે. તેઓની સમક્ષ ભૂમિ એદન બાગ જેવી છે, અને તેઓની પાછળ તે ઉજ્જડ અરણ્ય જેવી થાય છે. તેમના હાથમાંથી કોઈ પણ બચી જતું નથી.
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses, and as horsemen, so do they run.
૪તેમનો દેખાવ ઘોડાઓનાં દેખાવ જેવો છે, અને જાણે ઘોડેસવાર હોય તેમ તેઓ દોડે છે.
5 They leap like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
૫પર્વતોનાં શિખરો પર ગડગડાટ રથોની જેમ ખૂંપરા ભસ્મ કરતી અગ્નિની જવાળાઓની જેમ અને યુદ્ધભૂમિમાં શક્તિશાળી સેનાની જેમતેઓ આગળ વધે છે.
6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces have grown pale.
૬તેઓને જોતાં પ્રજાઓ ધ્રૂજી ઊઠે છે. અને ભયને કારણે સૌના ચહેરા નિસ્તેજ થઈ જાય છે.
7 They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like men of war, and they march each one on his ways. And they do not break their ranks.
૭તેઓ સૈનિકોની માફક દોડે છે અને લડવૈયાની જેમ તેઓ કોટ ઉપર ચઢી જાય છે. તેઓ બધા પોતપોતાને માર્ગે ચાલે છે અને પોતાની હરોળ તોડતા નથી.
8 Neither does one push another. They march each one in his path, and they burst through the weapons, and do not break off.
૮તેઓ એકબીજાની સાથે ધક્કાધક્કી કરતા નથી, પણ સીધે માર્ગે જાય છે. તેઓ સૈન્ય મધ્યે થઈને પાર ધસી જાય છે. તેઓ પોતાનો માર્ગ બદલતા નથી.
9 They leap upon the city. They run upon the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like a thief.
૯તેઓ નગરમાં ઉમટ્યા છે. તેઓ દીવાલો પર દોડે છે. તેઓ ઘરોની અંદર પેસી જાય છે. અને ચોરની જેમ અંદર બારીઓમાં થઈને પ્રવેશે છે.
10 The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
૧૦તેઓની આગળ ધરતી ધ્રુજે છે અને આકાશો થરથરે છે; સૂર્ય અને ચંદ્ર અંધારાઈ જાય છે અને તારાઓ ઝાંખા પડી જાય છે.
11 And Jehovah utters his voice before his army, for his camp is very great. For he is strong who executes his word. For the day of Jehovah is great and very fearful, and who can abide it?
૧૧યહોવાહ તેઓનાં સૈન્યોને મોટે સાદે પોકારે છે, તેઓનું સૈન્ય મોટું છે; અને જેઓ તેમની આજ્ઞા પાળે છે તેઓ શક્તિશાળી છે. યહોવાહનો દિવસ ભારે અને ભયંકર છે તેને કોણ સહન કરી શકે?
12 Yet even now, says Jehovah, turn ye to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.
૧૨તોપણ હમણાં, યહોવાહ કહે છે, સાચા હૃદયથી તમે મારી પાસે પાછા આવો. ઉપવાસ કરો, રુદન અને વિલાપ કરો.”
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Jehovah your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents of the evil.
૧૩તમારાં વસ્ત્રો નહિ પણ તમારા હૃદયો ફાળો, તમારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ પાસે પાછા ફરો, તેઓ દયાળુ અને કૃપાળુ છે, તેઓ કોપ કરવામાં ધીમા અને દયાના સાગર છે; વિપત્તિને લીધે તેમને પશ્ચાત્તાપ થાય છે.
14 Who knows whether he will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Jehovah your God?
૧૪કોણ જાણે કદાચ તે પશ્ચાતાપ કરીને પાછા આવે, અને પોતાની પાછળ આશીર્વાદ, એટલે તમારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહને માટે ખાદ્યાર્પણ અને પેયાર્પણ રહેવા દે.
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion. Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.
૧૫સિયોનમાં રણશિંગડું વગાડો, પવિત્ર ઉપવાસ જાહેર કરો, અને ધાર્મિક સંમેલન ભરો.
16 Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the old men. Gather the sons, and those who suck the breasts. Let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
૧૬લોકોને ભેગા કરો, સમુદાયને પાવન કરો, વડીલોને ભેગા કરો, શિશુઓને એકઠા કરો અને સ્તનપાન કરતાં બાળકોને પણ ભેગા કરો. વર પોતાના ઓરડામાંથી બહાર આવે, અને કન્યા પોતાના લગ્ન મંડપમાંથી બહાર નીકળીને ત્યાં જાય.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, and do not give thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?
૧૭યાજકો, જેઓ યહોવાહના સેવકો છે, તેઓ પરસાળ અને વેદીની વચ્ચે રડો. તેઓ એમ કહે કે, હે યહોવાહ, તમારા લોકો પર દયા કરો, અને તમારા વારસાને બદનામ થવા ન દો, જેથી વિદેશીઓ તેમના પર રાજ ન કરે. દેશમાં એવું શા માટે કહેવા દેવામાં આવે કે, તેઓના ઈશ્વર કયાં છે?”
18 Then Jehovah was jealous for his land, and had pity on his people.
૧૮ત્યારે યહોવાહને પોતાના લોકને માટે લાગણી થઈ, અને તેમને પોતાના લોકો પર દયા આવી.
19 And Jehovah answered and said to his people, Behold, I will send you grain, and new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith. And I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
૧૯પછી યહોવાહે પોતાના લોકોને જવાબ આપ્યો; “જુઓ, હું તમારે માટે અનાજ, દ્રાક્ષારસ, અને તેલ મોકલીશ. તમે તેઓથી તૃપ્ત થશો. અને હું હવે પછી કદી તમને વિદેશીઓમાં નિંદાપાત્ર થવા દઈશ નહિ.
20 But I will remove the northern army far off from you, and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, its forepart into the eastern sea, and its rear part into the western sea. And its stench shall come up, and its foul odor shall come up, because it has done great things.
૨૦પણ હું ઉત્તરના સૈન્યોને તમારામાંથી ઘણે દૂર હાંકી કાઢીશ અને હું તેઓને ઉજ્જડ તથા વેરાન દેશમાં મોકલી દઈશ. અને તેઓની અગ્ર હરોળના ભાગને સમુદ્રમાં, અને અંતિમ હરોળના સૈન્યને પશ્ચિમ સમુદ્ર તરફ ધકેલી દઈશ. તેની દુર્ગંધ ફેલાશે, અને તેની બદબો ઊંચી ચઢશે. હું મોટા કાર્યો કરીશ.”
21 Fear not, O land. Be glad and rejoice, for Jehovah has done great things.
૨૧હે ભૂમિ, બીશ નહિ, હવે ખુશ થા અને આનંદ કર, કેમ કે યહોવાહે મહાન કાર્યો કર્યાં છે.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness spring, for the tree bears its fruit, the fig tree and the vine yield their strength.
૨૨હે જંગલી પશુઓ, તમે ડરશો નહિ; કેમ કે ગૌચરની જગ્યાઓ ફરીથી હરિયાળી થશે. વૃક્ષો પોતાના ફળ ઉપજાવશે, અંજીરવૃક્ષો અને દ્રાક્ષાવેલાઓ ફરીથી ફળવંત થશે.
23 Be glad then, ye sons of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God, for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month.
૨૩હે સિયોનપુત્રો, ખુશ થાઓ, અને યહોવાહ તમારા ઈશ્વરના નામે આનંદ કરો. કેમ કે તે તમને શરૂઆતનો વરસાદ જોઈએ તેટલો મોકલી આપે છે. તે તમારા માટે વરસાદ વરસાવશે, એટલે પ્રારંભનો અને અંતનો વરસાદ અગાઉની જેમ વરસાવશે.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
૨૪ખળીઓ ફરીથી ઘઉંથી ભરાઈ જશે અને કુંડો જૈતતેલ અને દ્રાક્ષારસથી છલકાઈ જશે.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm has eaten-my great army which I sent among you.
૨૫“તીડો, કાતરાઓ, ઈયળો તથા જીવડાઓની મોટી ફોજ, મેં મારા તરફથી તમારામાં મોકલી હતી, તે જે વર્ષોનો પાક ખાઈ ગઈ છે તે પાક હું તમને પાછો આપીશ.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied. And shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never be put to shame.
૨૬તમે પુષ્કળ ભોજનથી તૃપ્ત થશો, અને તમારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ જે તમારી સાથે આશ્ચર્યકારક રીતે વર્ત્યા છે, તેમના નામની તમે સ્તુતિ કરશો, અને ફરી કદી મારા લોક શરમાશે નહિ.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and there is none else. And my people shall never be put to shame.
૨૭પછી તમને ખબર પડશે કે, હું ઇઝરાયલમાં છું, અને હું તમારો ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ છું, અને બીજા કોઈ ઈશ્વર નથી, અને મારા લોકો કદી શરમાશે નહિ.
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Your old men shall dream dreams. Your young men shall see visions.
૨૮ત્યારે એમ થશે કે હું મારો આત્મા સર્વ મનુષ્ય પર રેડી દઈશ. તમારા દીકરાઓ અને દીકરીઓ પ્રબોધ કરશે, તમારા વૃદ્ધોને સ્વપ્નો આવશે તમારા યુવાનોને સંદર્શનો થશે.
29 And also I will pour out my Spirit upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days.
૨૯વળી તે સમયે દાસો અને દાસીઓ ઉપર, હું મારો આત્મા રેડીશ.
30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
૩૦વળી હું પૃથ્વી પર અને આકાશમાં આશ્ચર્યજનક કાર્યો બતાવીશ, એટલે કે લોહી, અગ્નિ તથા ધુમાડાના સ્તંભો.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and wonderful day of Jehovah comes.
૩૧યહોવાહનો મહાન અને ભયંકર દિવસ આવે તે પહેલાં, સૂર્ય અંધકારરૂપ, અને ચંદ્ર લોહીરૂપ થઈ જશે.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be saved. For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as Jehovah has said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah calls.
૩૨તે સમયે એમ થશે કે, જે કોઈ યહોવાહને નામે વિનંતી કરશે તે ઉદ્ધાર પામશે. કેમ કે જેમ યહોવાહે કહ્યું છે તેમ, સિયોન પર્વત પર અને યરુશાલેમમાં કેટલાક બચી જશે, અને શેષમાંથી, જેને યહોવાહ બોલાવે છે તેઓનો પણ બચાવ થશે.
