< Job 35 >
1 Moreover Elihu answered, and said,
OLELO aku la hoi o Elihu, i aku la,
2 What is this thou think in judgment? Who are thou that thou said, I am righteousness before the Lord?
Ke manao nei oe he pono keia, O kau i olelo mai, O ko'u pono, ua oi mamua o ko ke Akua?
3 That thou said, What advantage will it be to thee? And, What profit shall I have more than if I had sinned?
No ka mea, ua ninau mai oe, Heaha ka pono no'u? Heaha hoi ko'u pomaikai no kuu hewa ole ana?
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
Owau ke hoihoi aku ia olelo iou la, A i kou mau hoalauna me oe.
5 Look to the heavens, and see. And behold the skies, which are higher than thou.
E nana ae oe i ka lani, a ike; A e nana i na ao, ua kiekie lakou mamua ou.
6 If thou have sinned, what do thou effect against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what do thou to him?
Ina e hana hewa oe, heaha kau hana ia ia? Ina e hoonuiia kou mau hala, heaha kau e hana'i nana?
7 If thou be righteous, what do thou give him? Or what does he receive of thy hand?
Ina ua pono oe, heaha kau e haawi aku ai ia ia? Heaha kana e loaa'i mai kou lima aku?
8 Thy wickedness is a man as thou are, and thy righteousness is a son of man.
No ke kanaka e like me oe kou hala, A no ke keiki a ke kanaka kou pono.
9 Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.
Ke uwe ae nei ka poe kaumaha no ka hooluhiia; I uwe lakou no ka lima o na mea koikoi.
10 But none says, Where is God my maker who gives songs in the night,
Aka, aole e i mai kekahi, Auhea ke Akua nana au i hana, Ka mea i haawi mai i na mele olioli i ka po;
11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?
O ka mea i ao mai ia kakou mamua o na holoholona o ka honua, A ua hoonaauao oia ia kakou mamua o na manu o ka lewa?
12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Malaila lakou e uwe ai, aole mea i ekemu mai, No ka haaheo o ka poe hewa.
13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, nor will the Almighty regard it.
He oiaio, aole ke Akua e hoolohe mai i ka mea wahahee, Aole ka Mea mana e maliu mai ia.
14 How much less when thou say thou do not behold him. The case is before him, and thou wait for him!
Ina paha e olelo oe, aole oe i ike ia ia, Imua ona ka hooponopono, nolaila e kali aku oe ia ia.
15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, nor does he greatly regard folly,
Ano hoi, he mea ole ka hoopai ana o kona inaina, Aole ia e haka pono mai i na hewa;
16 so Job opens his mouth in vanity. He multiplies words without knowledge.
Nolaila i oaka hewa mai ai ko Ioba waha, He hoonui olelo kana me ko ike ole.
