Job 35
1 Moreover Elihu answered, and said,
Und Elihu antwortete und sprach:
2 What is this thou think in judgment? Who are thou that thou said, I am righteousness before the Lord?
Achtest du das für recht, daß du sprichst: Ich bin gerechter denn Gott?
3 That thou said, What advantage will it be to thee? And, What profit shall I have more than if I had sinned?
Denn du sprichst: Wer gilt bei dir etwas? Was hilft's, ob ich mich ohne Sünde mache?
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
Ich will dir antworten ein Wort und deinen Freunden mit dir.
5 Look to the heavens, and see. And behold the skies, which are higher than thou.
Schaue gen Himmel und siehe, und schaue an die Wolken, daß sie dir zu hoch sind.
6 If thou have sinned, what do thou effect against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what do thou to him?
Sündigest du, was kannst du mit ihm machen? Und ob deiner Missetat viel ist, was kannst du ihm tun?
7 If thou be righteous, what do thou give him? Or what does he receive of thy hand?
Und ob du gerecht seiest, was kannst du ihm geben, oder was wird er von deinen Händen nehmen?
8 Thy wickedness is a man as thou are, and thy righteousness is a son of man.
Einem Menschen, wie du bist, mag wohl etwas tun deine Bosheit und einem Menschenkinde deine Gerechtigkeit.
9 Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.
Dieselbigen mögen schreien, wenn ihnen viel Gewalt geschieht, und rufen über den Arm der Großen,
10 But none says, Where is God my maker who gives songs in the night,
die nicht danach fragen, wo ist Gott, mein Schöpfer, der das Gesänge macht in der Nacht,
11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?
der uns gelehrter macht denn das Vieh auf Erden und weiser denn die Vögel unter dem Himmel?
12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Aber sie werden da auch schreien über den Hochmut der Bösen, und er wird sie nicht erhören.
13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, nor will the Almighty regard it.
Denn Gott wird das Eitle nicht erhören, und der Allmächtige wird es nicht ansehen.
14 How much less when thou say thou do not behold him. The case is before him, and thou wait for him!
Dazu sprichst du, du werdest ihn nicht sehen. Aber es ist ein Gericht vor ihm; harre sein nur,
15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, nor does he greatly regard folly,
ob sein Zorn bald nicht heimsucht, und sich nicht annimmt, daß so viel Laster da sind.
16 so Job opens his mouth in vanity. He multiplies words without knowledge.
Darum hat Hiob seinen Mund umsonst aufgesperrt und gibt stolze Teiding vor mit Unverstand.
