Job 17
1 My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, the grave is ready for me.
| «روح من تلف شده، و روزهایم تمام گردیده، و قبر برای من حاضر است. | ۱ |
2 Surely there are mockers with me, and my eye dwells upon their provocation.
| به درستی که استهزاکنندگان نزد منند، و چشم من در منازعت ایشان دائم می‌ماند. | ۲ |
3 Give now a pledge, be surety for me with thyself. Who is there that will strike hands with me?
| الان گرو بده و به جهت من نزد خود ضامن باش. والا کیست که به من دست دهد؟ | ۳ |
4 For thou have hid their heart from understanding. Therefore thou shall not exalt them.
| چونکه دل ایشان را از حکمت منع کرده‌ای، بنابراین ایشان را بلند نخواهی ساخت. | ۴ |
5 He who denounces his friends for a prey, even the eyes of his sons shall fail.
| کسی‌که دوستان خود را به تاراج تسلیم کند، چشمان فرزندانش تار خواهد شد. | ۵ |
6 But he has made me a byword of the people, and they spit in my face.
| مرا نزدامت‌ها مثل ساخته است، و مثل کسی‌که بر رویش آب دهان اندازند شده‌ام. | ۶ |
7 My eye also is dim because of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
| چشم من از غصه کاهیده شده است، و تمامی اعضایم مثل سایه گردیده. | ۷ |
8 Upright men shall be astonished at this, and the innocent shall stir himself up against the profane.
| راستان به‌سبب این، حیران می‌مانند وصالحان خویشتن را بر ریاکاران برمی انگیزانند. | ۸ |
9 Yet the righteous shall hold on his way. And he who has clean hands shall grow stronger and stronger.
| لیکن مرد عادل به طریق خود متمسک می‌شود، و کسی‌که دست پاک دارد، در قوت ترقی خواهدنمود. | ۹ |
10 But as for you all, come on now again, and I shall not find a wise man among you.
| «اما همه شما برگشته، الان بیایید و در میان شما حکیمی نخواهم یافت. | ۱۰ |
11 My days are past. My purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
| روزهای من گذشته، و قصدهای من و فکرهای دلم منقطع شده است. | ۱۱ |
12 They change the night into day. The light, they say, is near to the darkness.
| شب را به روز تبدیل می‌کنند و باوجود تاریکی می‌گویند روشنایی نزدیک است. | ۱۲ |
| وقتی که امید دارم هاویه خانه من می‌باشد، وبستر خود را در تاریکی می‌گسترانم، (Sheol h7585) | ۱۳ |
14 if I have said to corruption, Thou are my father, to the worm, My mother, and my sister,
| و به هلاکت می‌گویم تو پدر من هستی و به کرم که تومادر و خواهر من می‌باشی. | ۱۴ |
15 where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who shall see it?
| پس امید من کجااست؟ و کیست که امید مرا خواهد دید؟ | ۱۵ |
