< Jeremiah 14 >
1 The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
Eyi ne Awurade asɛm a ɔde maa Yeremia a ɛfa nsuyow ho:
2 Judah mourns, and the gates thereof languish. They sit in black upon the ground, and the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.
“Yuda resu, ne nkuropɔn hu amane; wɔbɔ asase no ho abubuw, na osu foro fi Yerusalem kɔ.
3 And their ranking men send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are put to shame and confounded, and cover their heads,
Mmapɔmma soma wɔn asomfo ma wɔkɔhwehwɛ nsu; wɔkɔhwɛ ahina mu nanso wonnya nsu. Wɔde wɔn asuhina san ba a hwee nni mu; wɔde awerɛhow ne abawpa katakata wɔn ti so.
4 because of the ground which is cracked. Because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are put to shame; they cover their heads.
Asase no apaapae, efisɛ osu ntɔ wɔ asase no so; akuafo no koma atutu na wɔkata wɔn ti so.
5 Yea, the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes it because there is no grass.
Mpo ɔforotebere a ɔwɔ sare so gyaw ne ba a wawo no foforo, efisɛ sare biara nni hɔ.
6 And the wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail because there is no herbage.
Sare so mfurum gyinagyina nkoko wosee no so home sɛ sakraman; wɔkrankran wɔn ani hwehwɛ didibea nanso wonhu bi.”
7 Though our iniquities testify against us, work thou for thy name's sake, O Jehovah. For our backslidings are many. We have sinned against thee.
Ɛwɔ mu sɛ yɛn amumɔyɛ di adanse tia yɛn de, nanso Awurade, wo din nti yɛ ho biribi. Yɛn atuatew dɔɔso; na yɛayɛ bɔne atia wo.
8 O thou hope of Israel, the Savior of it in the time of trouble, why should thou be as a sojourner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to tarry for a night?
Wo a woyɛ Israel Anidaso, nʼAgyenkwa wɔ amanehunu mmere mu, adɛn nti na woayɛ sɛ ɔhɔho wɔ asase no so, sɛ ɔkwantuni a ɔsoɛ anadwo?
9 Why should thou be as a man frightened, as a mighty man who cannot save? Yet thou, O Jehovah, are in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name. Do not leave us.
Adɛn nti na woayɛ sɛ obi a ade afu ne mu yi, sɛ ɔkofo a onni ahoɔden a ɔde boa? Wowɔ yɛn ntam, Awurade na wo din da yɛn so; nnyaw yɛn mu!
10 Thus says Jehovah to this people: Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore Jehovah does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
Eyi ne nea Awurade ka fa saa nnipa yi ho: “Wɔn ani gye akyinkyinakyinkyin ho yiye; wɔmma wɔn anan nhome. Ɛno nti Awurade nnye wɔn nto mu; afei ɔbɛkae wɔn amumɔyɛsɛm no na watwe wɔn aso wɔ wɔn bɔne ho.”
11 And Jehovah said to me, Pray not for this people for good.
Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ me se, “Mmɔ yiyeyɛ ho mpae mma saa nnipa yi.
12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry. And when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
Mmom ɛwɔ mu sɛ wodi mmuada de, nso merentie wɔn sufrɛ; ɛwɔ mu sɛ wɔbɔ ɔhyew afɔre ne aduan afɔre de, nso merennye. Mmom, mede afoa, ɔkɔm ne ɔyaredɔm bɛsɛe wɔn.”
13 Then I said, Ah, lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say to them, Ye shall not see the sword, nor shall ye have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.
14 Then Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I did not send them, nor have I commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of naught, and the deceit of their own heart.
Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ me se, “Adiyifo no hyɛ akɔntoro wɔ me din mu. Mensomaa wɔn, minnyii wɔn na menkasa nkyerɛɛ wɔn ɛ. Wɔrehyɛ nkɔm fa atoro anisoadehu, asumansɛm, abosonsom ne wɔn ankasa nnaadaa adwene ho.
15 Therefore thus says Jehovah concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, and I did not send them, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed.
Ɛno nti, nea Awurade ka fa adiyifo a wɔde me din hyɛ nkɔm no ho ni: mensomaa wɔn nanso wɔka se, ‘Afoa biara anaa ɔkɔm biara remma asase yi so.’ Saa adiyifo no ara bɛtotɔ wɔ afoa ano ne ɔkɔm mu.
16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and they shall have none to bury them-them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters. For I will pour their wickedness upon them.
Na nnipa a wɔhyɛ nkɔm kyerɛ wɔn no, wɔbɛtotow wɔn agu Yerusalem mmɔnten so esiane ɔkɔm ne afoa nti. Wɔrenya obiara nsie wɔn: wɔn yerenom, wɔn mmabarima anaa wɔn mmabea. Mɛma amanehunu a ɛfata wɔn aba wɔn so.
17 And thou shall say this word to them: Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease. For the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
“Ka saa asɛm yi kyerɛ wɔn: “‘ma nisu nguare me anadwo ne awia, a to ntwa, efisɛ Ɔbabea Babun no, me nkurɔfo, anya apirakuru a ɛyɛ hu na ɛyɛ ahodwiriw mmoroso.
18 If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! And if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.
Sɛ mekɔ ɔman no mu a, mihu nnipa a wɔatotɔ wɔ afoa ano; sɛ mekɔ kuropɔn no mu a mihu ɔkɔm nsunsuanso. Odiyifo ne ɔsɔfo nyinaa kɔ asase a wonnim so so.’”
19 Have thou utterly rejected Judah? Has thy soul loathed Zion? Why have thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came, and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!
Woapo Yuda koraa ana? Wubu Sion animtiaa ana? Adɛn nti na wode ɔhaw aba yɛn so na yennya ayaresa? Yɛn ani daa asomdwoe so, nanso ade papa biara mmaa ɛ; yɛn ani daa ayaresa bere so nanso ehu na ɛbae.
20 We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against thee.
Awurade, yegye yɛn amumɔyɛ ne yɛn agyanom afɔdi to mu; nokware, yɛayɛ bɔne atia wo.
21 Do not abhor us. For thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory. Remember, do not break thy covenant with us.
Na wo din nti mmu yɛn animtiaa; nhura wʼanuonyam ahengua no ho. Kae wo ne yɛn apam no na mmu so.
22 Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Are not thou he, O Jehovah our God? Therefore we will wait for thee, for thou have made all these things.
Na amanaman ahoni ahuhuw no mu bi ma osu tɔ ana? Wim ankasa na ɛtɔ obosu ana? Dabi da, ɛyɛ wo, Awurade yɛn Nyankopɔn. Enti wo so na yɛn ani da, na wo na woyɛ eyinom nyinaa.
