Isaiah 50
1 Thus says Jehovah, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, with which I have put her away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities ye were sold, and for your transgressions your mother was put away.
Näin sanoo Herra: Missä on teidän äitinne erokirja, jolla olisin lähettänyt hänet pois? Tai kuka on minun velkojani, jolle minä olisin teidät myynyt? Katso, pahojen tekojenne tähden te olette myydyt, teidän rikkomustenne tähden on äitinne lähetetty pois.
2 Why, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea. I make the rivers a wilderness. Their fish stink because there is no water, and die for thirst.
Miksi ei ollut ketään, kun minä tulin, miksi ei kukaan vastannut, kun minä huusin? Onko minun käteni liian lyhyt vapahtamaan, olenko minä voimaton auttamaan? Katso, nuhtelullani minä kuivaan meren, minä teen virrat erämaaksi, niin että niitten kalat mätänevät, kun ei ole vettä; ne kuolevat janoon.
3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
Minä puetan taivaat mustiin ja panen murhepuvun niitten verhoksi.
4 The lord Jehovah has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary. He awakens morning by morning. He awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
Herra, Herra on minulle antanut opetuslasten kielen, niin että minä taidan sanalla virvoittaa väsynyttä; hän herättää aamu aamulta, herättää minun korvani kuulemaan opetuslasten tavalla.
5 The lord Jehovah has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, nor turned away backward.
Herra, Herra on avannut minun korvani; minä en ole niskoitellut, en vetäytynyt pois.
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.
Selkäni minä annoin lyötäväksi, poskieni parran revittäväksi, en peittänyt kasvojani pilkalta ja syljeltä.
7 For the lord Jehovah will help me. Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
Herra, Herra auttaa minua; sentähden ei minuun pilkka koskenut, sentähden tein kasvoni koviksi kuin piikivi, sillä minä tiedän, etten häpeään joudu.
8 He is near who justifies me. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me.
Lähellä on hän, joka minut vanhurskaaksi tuomitsee. Kuka voi minun kanssani riidellä? Astukaamme yhdessä esiin! Kuka on minun vastapuoleni? Tulkoon tänne lähelleni!
9 Behold, the lord Jehovah will help me. Who is he who shall condemn me? Behold, all they shall grow old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
Katso, Herra, Herra auttaa minua; kuka minut syylliseksi tuomitsee? Katso, kaikki he hajoavat kuin vaate; koi heidät syö.
10 Who is among you that fears Jehovah, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in the name of Jehovah, and rely upon his God.
Kuka teistä pelkää Herraa ja kuulee hänen palvelijansa ääntä? Joka vaeltaa pimeydessä ja valoa vailla, se luottakoon Herran nimeen ja turvautukoon Jumalaansa.
11 Behold, all ye who kindle a fire, who gird yourselves about with firebrands, walk ye in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that ye have kindled. This ye shall have from my hand. Ye shall lie down in sorrow.
Mutta katso, te kaikki, jotka palon sytytätte, te palavilla nuolilla varustetut, suistukaa oman tulenne liekkeihin, niihin palaviin nuoliin, jotka olette sytyttäneet. Minun kädestäni tämä teille tulee; vaivassa täytyy teidän asua.
