Isaiah 47
1 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans. For thou shall no more be called tender and delicate.
« Descends et assieds-toi dans la poussière, vierge fille de Babylone. Assieds-toi par terre sans trône, fille des Chaldéens. Car on ne vous appellera plus tendre et délicat.
2 Take the millstones, and grind meal. Remove thy veil, strip off the train, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers.
Prendre les meules et moudre la farine. Enlevez votre voile, relevez votre jupe, découvrez vos jambes, et patauger dans les rivières.
3 Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen. I will take vengeance, and will spare no man.
Votre nudité sera découverte. Oui, votre honte sera vue. Je me vengerai, et n'épargnera personne. »
4 Our Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Notre Rédempteur, Yahvé des Armées, tel est son nom, est le Saint d'Israël.
5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans, for thou shall no more be called The mistress of kingdoms.
« Asseyez-vous en silence, et allez dans les ténèbres, fille des Chaldéens. Car on ne vous appellera plus la maîtresse des royaumes.
6 I was angry with my people. I profaned my inheritance, and gave them into thy hand. Thou showed them no mercy. Upon the aged thou have laid thy yoke very heavily.
J'étais en colère contre mon peuple. J'ai profané mon héritage et les a remis entre tes mains. Vous ne leur avez montré aucune pitié. Vous avez mis un joug très lourd sur les personnes âgées.
7 And thou said, I shall be mistress forever, so that thou did not lay these things to thy heart, nor remembered the latter end of it.
Tu as dit: « Je serai toujours une princesse ». afin que vous ne mettiez pas ces choses dans votre cœur, et vous ne vous êtes pas non plus souvenu des résultats.
8 Now therefore hear this, thou who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me. I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of sons.
« Maintenant, écoutez ceci, vous qui êtes adonnés aux plaisirs, qui sont assis en toute sécurité, qui disent dans leur cœur, Je le suis, et il n'y a personne d'autre que moi. Je ne m'assiérai pas comme une veuve, je ne connaîtrai pas non plus la perte d'enfants ».
9 But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day: the loss of sons, and widowhood. In their full measure they shall come upon thee, in the multitude of thy sorceries, and the great abundance of thine enchantments.
Mais ces deux choses vous arriveront en un instant, en un jour: la perte d'enfants et le veuvage. Ils s'en prendront à vous dans toute leur mesure, dans la multitude de tes sorcelleries, et la grande abondance de vos enchantements.
10 For thou have trusted in thy wickedness. Thou have said, None sees me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it has perverted thee. And thou have said in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me.
Car tu t'es confié à ta méchanceté. Vous avez dit: « Personne ne me voit ». Votre sagesse et votre savoir vous ont perverti. Tu as dit dans ton cœur: « Je suis, et il n'y a personne d'autre que moi ».
11 Therefore evil shall come upon thee. Thou shall not know the dawning of it. And mischief shall fall upon thee. Thou shall not be able to put it away. And desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou know not.
C'est pourquoi le désastre viendra sur vous. Tu ne sauras pas quand ça se lèvera. La malchance s'abattra sur vous. Vous ne pourrez pas le ranger. La désolation s'abattra sur vous soudainement, que vous ne comprenez pas.
12 Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, in which thou have labored from thy youth, if so be thou shall be able to profit, if so be thou may prevail.
« Tenez-vous maintenant avec vos enchantements et avec la multitude de tes sorcelleries, dans laquelle tu as travaillé depuis ta jeunesse, comme si vous pouviez en profiter, comme si vous pouviez l'emporter.
13 Thou are wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the star-gazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from the things that shall come upon thee.
Tu t'es fatigué dans la multitude de tes conseils. Laissez maintenant les astrologues, les astrologues et les pronostiqueurs mensuels se lever et vous sauver des choses qui vous arriveront.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble. The fire shall burn them. They shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame. It shall not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before.
Voici, ils sont comme du chaume. Le feu les brûlera. Ils ne se délivreront pas de la puissance de la flamme. Ce ne sera pas un charbon pour se réchauffer. ou un feu pour s'asseoir.
15 Thus shall be the things to thee, in which thou have labored. Those who have trafficked with thee from thy youth shall wander each one to his quarter. There shall be none to save thee.
Les choses pour lesquelles vous avez travaillé seront comme ceci: ceux qui ont trafiqué avec toi depuis ta jeunesse erreront chacun de leur côté. Il n'y aura personne pour vous sauver.
