Isaiah 34

1 Come near, ye nations, to hear. And hearken, ye peoples. Let the earth hear, and the fullness thereof, the world, and all things that come forth from it.

Chegai-vos, nações, para ouvir, e vós, povos, escutai: ouça a terra, e a sua plenitude, o mundo, e tudo quanto produz.

2 For Jehovah has indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host. He has utterly destroyed them. He has delivered them to the slaughter.

Porque a indignação do Senhor está sobre todas as nações, e o seu furor sobre todo o seu exército: ele as destruiu totalmente, entregou-as à matança.

3 Their slain also shall be cast out. And the stench of their dead bodies shall come up, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

E os seus mortos serão arremeçados e dos seus corpos subirá o seu fedor; e os montes se derreterão com o seu sangue.

4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll. And all their host shall fade away as the leaf fades from off the vine, and as a fading leaf from the fig tree.

E todo o exército dos céus se gastará, e os céus se enrolarão como um livro: e todo o seu exército cairá, como cai a folha da vide, e como cai o figo da figueira.

5 For my sword has drunk its fill in heaven. Behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Porque a minha espada se embriagou nos céus: eis que sobre Edom descerá, e sobre o povo do meu anátema para juízo.

6 The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood. It is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams, for Jehovah has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

A espada do Senhor está cheia de sangue, está engordurada da gordura de sangue de cordeiros e de bodes, da gordura dos rins de carneiros; porque o Senhor tem sacrifício em Bozra, e grande matança na terra de Edom.

7 And the wild oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls. And their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

E os unicórnios descerão com eles, e os bezerros com os touros: e a sua terra beberá sangue até se fartar, e o seu pó de gordura engordará.

8 For Jehovah has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

Porque será o dia da vingança do Senhor, ano de retribuições pela porfia de Sião.

9 And the streams of Edom shall be turned into pitch, and the dust of it into brimstone. And the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

E os seus ribeiros se tornarão em pez, e o seu pó em enxofre, e a sua terra em pez ardente.

10 It shall not be quenched night nor day. The smoke of it shall go up forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste. None shall pass through it forever and ever.

Nem de noite nem de dia se apagará; para sempre o seu fumo subirá: de geração em geração será assolada; de século em século ninguém passará por ela.

11 But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it. And the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. And he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.

Mas o pelicano e a coruja a possuirão, e o bufo e o corvo habitarão nela: porque estenderá sobre ela cordel de confusão e nível de vaidade.

12 They shall call the nobles of it to the kingdom, but none shall be there. And all its rulers shall be nothing.

Os seus nobres (que já não há nela) ao reino chamarão; porém todos os seus príncipes não serão coisa nenhuma.

13 And thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses of it. And it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.

E nos seus palácios crescerão espinhos, ortigas e cardos nas suas fortalezas; e será uma habitação de dragões, e sala para os filhos do avestruz.

14 And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves. And the wild goat shall cry to his fellow. Yea, the screech owl shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.

E os cães bravos se encontrarão com os gatos bravos; e o demônio clamará ao seu companheiro: e os animais noturnos ali pousarão, e acharão lugar de repouso para si.

15 There the dart-snake shall make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade. Yea, there the vultures shall be gathered, each one with her mate.

Ali se aninhará a melroa e porá os seus ovos, e tirará os seus pintãos, e os recolherá debaixo da sua sombra: também ali os abutres se ajuntarão uns com os outros.

16 Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read. No one of these shall be missing. None shall want her mate. For my mouth, it has commanded, and his Spirit, it has gathered them.

Buscai no livro do Senhor, e lede; nenhuma destas coisas falhará, nem uma nem outra faltará; porque a minha própria boca o ordenou, e o seu espírito mesmo as ajuntará.

17 And he has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it to them by line. They shall possess it forever. From generation to generation they shall dwell therein.

Porque ele mesmo lançou as sortes por eles, e a sua mão lha repartiu com o cordel: para sempre a possuirão, de geração em geração habitarão nela.
