Isaiah 11

1 And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse. And a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.

Et il sortira un rejeton de la racine de Jessé, et une fleur s’élèvera de sa racine,

2 And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah.

Et l’esprit du Seigneur reposera sur lui; l’esprit de sagesse et d’intelligence, l’esprit de conseil et de force, l’esprit de science et de piété.

3 And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah. And he shall not judge according to the sight of his eyes, nor decide according to the hearing of his ears,

L’esprit de crainte du Seigneur le remplira. Il ne jugera pas d’après ce qu’auront vu les yeux, et il ne condamnera pas d’après ce qu’auront ouï les oreilles.

4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.

Mais il jugera les pauvres dans la justice, et il se prononcera avec équité pour les hommes paisibles de la terre; et il frappera la terre de la verge de sa bouche, et du souffle de ses lèvres il tuera l’impie.

5 And righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

Et la justice sera la ceinture de ses reins, et la fidélité le ceinturon de ses flancs

6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.

Le loup habitera avec l’agneau, et le léopard se couchera près du chevreau; le jeune taureau, et le Mon, et la brebis demeureront ensemble, et un petit enfant les conduira.

7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together. And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

Le veau et l’ours iront aux mêmes pâturages; leurs petits se reposeront ensemble; le lion comme le bœuf mangera la paille.

8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.

Et l’enfant à la mamelle se jouera sur le trou de l’aspic; et celui qui viendra d’être sevré portera sa main dans la caverne du basilic.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea.

Ils ne nuiront pas, et ils ne tueront pas sur toute ma montagne sainte; parce que la terre est remplie de la connaissance du Seigneur, comme les eaux qui couvrent la mer.

10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, and he who arises to rule over the Gentiles. In him shall the Gentiles hope, and his resting-place shall be glorious.

En ce jour-là viendra la racine de Jessé qui est comme l’étendard des peuples; c’est à lui que les nations adresseront leurs prières, et son sépulcre sera glorieux.

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que le Seigneur étendra une seconde fois sa main pour posséder le reste de son peuple, qui aura échappé aux Assyriens, et à l’Egypte, et à Phétros, et à l’Ethiopie, et à Elam et à Sennaar, et à Emath, et aux îles de la mer.

12 And he will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Et il élèvera son étendard parmi les nations, il réunira les fugitifs d’Israël, et les dispersés de Juda, il les rassemblera des quatre coins de la terre.

13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, and those who vex Judah shall be cut off. Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

Et la jalousie d’Ephraïm sera détruite, et les ennemis de Juda périront; Ephraïm n’enviera pas Juda, et Juda ne combattra pas contre Ephraïm.

14 And they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines on the west. Together they shall despoil the sons of the east. They shall put forth their hand upon Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon shall obey them.

Et ils voleront sur les épaules des Philistins par la mer; ils pilleront ensemble les fils de l’Orient. L’Idumée et Moab seront la première capture de leur main, et les fils d’Ammon leur obéiront.

15 And Jehovah will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea. And with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dry shod.

Et le Seigneur mettra à sec la langue de la mer d’Égypte, et il lèvera sa main sur le fleuve, il l’agitera par la force de son souffle, et il le frappera dans ses sept ruisseaux, en sorte qu’on le passera tout chaussé.

16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Assyria, like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

Et il y aura une voie pour le reste de mon peuple qui aura échappé aux Assyriens, comme il y en eut une pour Israël, au jour auquel il monta de la terre d’Egypte.
