1 Therefore having left the word of the primacy of Christ, let us be brought forward to perfection, not again laying a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 of doctrine of washings, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (aiōnios g166)

3 And this we will do, if of course God will permit.
ii"svarasyaanumatyaa ca tad asmaabhi. h kaari. syate|
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and who tasted of the heavenly gift, and who became partakers of the Holy Spirit,
ya ekak. rtvo diiptimayaa bhuutvaa svargiiyavararasam aasvaditavanta. h pavitrasyaatmano. a.m"sino jaataa
5 and who tasted the good word of God and the powers of the coming age, (aiōn g165)
ii"svarasya suvaakya. m bhaavikaalasya "sakti ncaasvaditavanta"sca te bhra. s.tvaa yadi (aiōn g165)
6 and who fell away, to restore again to repentance, crucifying to themselves the Son of God, and disgracing him publicly.
svamanobhirii"svarasya putra. m puna. h kru"se ghnanti lajjaaspada. m kurvvate ca tarhi mana. hparaavarttanaaya punastaan naviiniikarttu. m ko. api na "saknoti|
7 For the soil that has drunk the rain often coming upon it, and bringing forth vegetation useful for those by whom also it is cultivated, partakes of a blessing from God.
yato yaa bhuumi. h svopari bhuuya. h patita. m v. r.s. ti. m pivatii tatphalaadhikaari. naa. m nimittam i. s.taani "saakaadiinyutpaadayati saa ii"svaraad aa"si. sa. m praaptaa|
8 But producing thorns and thistles it is unfit and near a curse, the end of which is for burning.
kintu yaa bhuumi rgok. suraka. n.takav. rk. saan utpaadayati saa na graahyaa "saapaarhaa ca "se. se tasyaa daaho bhavi. syati|
9 But we are persuaded better things about you, beloved, and things that have salvation, even though we speak this way.
he priyatamaa. h, yadyapi vayam etaad. r"sa. m vaakya. m bhaa. saamahe tathaapi yuuya. m tata utk. r.s. taa. h paritraa. napathasya pathikaa"scaadhva iti vi"svasaama. h|
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the labor of love that ye showed toward his name, having served the sanctified, and who are serving.
yato yu. smaabhi. h pavitralokaanaa. m ya upakaaro. akaari kriyate ca tene"svarasya naamne prakaa"sita. m prema "srama nca vismarttum ii"svaro. anyaayakaarii na bhavati|
11 And we earnestly desire each of you to show the same diligence toward the full assurance of the hope until the end,
apara. m yu. smaakam ekaiko jano yat pratyaa"saapuura. naartha. m "se. sa. m yaavat tameva yatna. m prakaa"sayedityaham icchaami|
12 so that ye may not become lazy, but imitators of those who, through faith and longsuffering, inherit the promises.
ata. h "sithilaa na bhavata kintu ye vi"svaasena sahi. s.nutayaa ca pratij naanaa. m phalaadhikaari. no jaataaste. saam anugaamino bhavata|
13 For God who promised to Abraham, since he had none greater to swear by, swore by himself,
ii"svaro yadaa ibraahiime pratyajaanaat tadaa "sre. s.thasya kasyaapyaparasya naamnaa "sapatha. m karttu. m naa"saknot, ato heto. h svanaamnaa "sapatha. m k. rtvaa tenokta. m yathaa,
14 saying, Surely indeed, blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
"satyam aha. m tvaam aa"si. sa. m gadi. syaami tavaanvaya. m varddhayi. syaami ca|"
15 And this way, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
anena prakaare. na sa sahi. s.nutaa. m vidhaaya tasyaa. h pratyaa"saayaa. h phala. m labdhavaan|
16 For men certainly swear by the greater, and of every dispute with them the oath is final for confirmation.
atha maanavaa. h "sre. s.thasya kasyacit naamnaa "sapante, "sapatha"sca pramaa. naartha. m te. saa. m sarvvavivaadaantako bhavati|
17 By which God, wanting to demonstrate more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutableness of his resolve, confirmed it by an oath.
ityasmin ii"svara. h pratij naayaa. h phalaadhikaari. na. h sviiyamantra. naayaa amoghataa. m baahulyato dar"sayitumicchan "sapathena svapratij naa. m sthiriik. rtavaan|
18 So that by two immutable events, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have strong encouragement, having fled for refuge to seize the hope being openly displayed.
ataeva yasmin an. rtakathanam ii"svarasya na saadhya. m taad. r"senaacalena vi. sayadvayena sammukhastharak. saasthalasya praaptaye palaayitaanaam asmaaka. m sud. r.dhaa saantvanaa jaayate|
19 Which we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and that enters into the interior of the veil,
saa pratyaa"saasmaaka. m manonaukaayaa acalo la"ngaro bhuutvaa vicchedakavastrasyaabhyantara. m pravi. s.taa|
20 where the forerunner, Jesus, entered for us, having become a high priest into the age according to the order of Melchizedek. (aiōn g165)
tatraivaasmaakam agrasaro yii"su. h pravi"sya malkii. sedaka. h "sre. nyaa. m nityasthaayii yaajako. abhavat| (aiōn g165)
