Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is the foundation of hoping, the evidence of events not being seen.
വിശ്വാസം എന്നത് നാം പ്രത്യാശിക്കുന്നവയുടെ ഉറപ്പും നമുക്ക് അദൃശ്യമായ കാര്യങ്ങളുടെ നിശ്ചയവും ആകുന്നു.
2 For by this the ancients were well reported.
ഈ വിശ്വാസത്തിനാണ് പൂർവികർ പ്രശംസിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്.
3 By faith we understand the ages to have been prepared by the word of God. For the things that are seen do not come to be from that which is visible. (aiōn g165)
ദൈവവചനത്താൽ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു എന്ന് വിശ്വാസത്താൽ നാം മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ, ദൃശ്യമായതെല്ലാം അദൃശ്യമായതിൽനിന്ന് ഉളവായി എന്നു നാം അറിയുന്നു. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, because of which he was reported to be righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through it, he who died still speaks.
ഹാബേൽ ദൈവത്തിനു കയീന്റേതിലും വിശിഷ്ടമായ ഒരു യാഗം, വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അർപ്പിച്ചു. അതിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് നീതിനിഷ്ഠൻ എന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം ലഭിച്ചു. ദൈവം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വഴിപാട് അംഗീകരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചെങ്കിലും വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ഇപ്പോഴും സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 By faith Enoch was transferred to not see death, and he was not found, because God transferred him. For before his removal he was reported to be pleasing to God.
ഹാനോക്ക് മരണം അനുഭവിക്കാതെ, വിശ്വാസത്താൽ എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; “ദൈവം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കെടുത്തതിനാൽ പിന്നെ കാണപ്പെട്ടതേയില്ല;” എടുക്കപ്പെടുന്നതിനു മുമ്പ്, ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചവൻ എന്ന സാക്ഷ്യം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ലഭിച്ചു.
6 And apart from faith it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and becomes a rewarder of those who search for him.
വിശ്വാസംകൂടാതെ ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുക അസാധ്യം; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നയാൾ ദൈവം ഉണ്ടെന്നും തന്നെ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അവിടന്ന് പ്രതിഫലം നൽകുമെന്നും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned about things not yet seen, moved with awe, prepared an ark for the salvation of his house, through which he condemned the world, and became an heir of righteousness according to faith.
നോഹ, അതുവരെയും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലാതിരുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു മുന്നറിയിപ്പു ലഭിച്ചപ്പോൾ തന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി ഭയഭക്തിയോടെ, വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ഒരു വലിയ പെട്ടകം നിർമിച്ചു; വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ലോകത്തെ കുറ്റം വിധിച്ച്, വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ അധിഷ്ഠിതമായ നീതിക്ക് അവകാശിയായിത്തീർന്നു.
8 By faith Abraham, when called, obeyed to go out to the place that he was going to take for an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
അബ്രാഹാം തനിക്ക് ഓഹരിയായി ലഭിക്കാനിരുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകാൻ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ താൻ എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നറിയാതെ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അനുസരണയോടെ യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു.
9 By faith he lived alien in the land of promise as a foreigner, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the fellow heirs of the same promise.
അദ്ദേഹം വാഗ്ദാനദേശത്ത് വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ഒരു പ്രവാസിയെപ്പോലെ ജീവിച്ചു. ഇതേ വാഗ്ദാനത്തിന് അവകാശികളായ യിസ്ഹാക്കും യാക്കോബും അതുപോലെതന്നെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ താമസിച്ചു.
10 For he anticipated the city that has the foundations, whose builder and architect is God.
ദൈവം ശില്പിയും നിർമാതാവുമായി അടിസ്ഥാനമിട്ട ഒരു നഗരത്തിനായി അബ്രാഹാം കാത്തിരുന്നു.
11 By faith even Sarah herself received power for conception of seed, and she gave birth beyond the time of age, because she considered him faithful who promised.
സാറ വന്ധ്യയും വയോധികയും ആയിരുന്നിട്ടും വിശ്വാസത്താൽ, “വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്ത ദൈവം വിശ്വസ്തൻ” എന്നു കണക്കാക്കിയതുകൊണ്ട്, ഗർഭധാരണത്തിന് ശക്തയായിത്തീർന്നു.
12 And therefore from one man, and these things having become deadened, were begotten as the stars of the heaven for multitude, and as the sand of the seashore, countless.
അങ്ങനെ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനിൽനിന്ന്, മൃതപ്രായനായവനിൽനിന്നുതന്നെ, ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾപോലെയും സമുദ്രതീരത്തെ മണൽത്തരിപോലെയും അസംഖ്യം സന്തതികൾ ഉത്ഭവിച്ചു.
13 All these died in faith, not having taken the promises, but who saw and greeted them from afar, and who confessed that they were foreigners and sojourners on the earth.
ഇവരെല്ലാവരും വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ മരണംവരെ ഉറച്ചുനിന്നു. അവർ സ്വന്തം ജീവിതകാലത്ത് വാഗ്ദാനനിവൃത്തി കരഗതമാകാതെ, ദൂരെനിന്ന് അവയെ (വിശ്വാസത്താൽ) കണ്ട്, ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ തങ്ങൾ അപരിചിതരും വിദേശികളും എന്നു ബോധ്യപ്പെട്ട് അവയെ (ആനന്ദത്തോടെ) സ്വാഗതംചെയ്തു.
14 For those who say such things show that they are seeking a fatherland.
ഇങ്ങനെ (അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിയിലൂടെ) പറയുന്നവർ, തങ്ങൾക്ക് സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു ദേശം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നെന്നു സുവ്യക്തമാക്കുകയാണ്.
15 And if indeed they remembered that from which they came out, they would have had time to return.
തങ്ങൾ വിട്ടുപോന്ന ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ഗൃഹാതുരരായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവർക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാൻ സമയമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
16 But now they aspire for a superior one, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
എന്നാൽ അവരാകട്ടെ, അധികം ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ സ്ഥലം, സ്വർഗീയമാതൃരാജ്യംതന്നെ, വാഞ്ഛിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം, അവരുടെ ദൈവം എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടാൻ ലജ്ജിക്കുന്നില്ല; കാരണം അവിടന്ന് അവർക്കായി ഒരു നഗരം ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
17 By faith Abraham, being tested, offered Isaac. And he who received the promises offered his only begotten son,
താൻ പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ അബ്രാഹാം വിശ്വാസത്താൽ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ യാഗമായി അർപ്പിച്ചു. “യിസ്ഹാക്കിൽനിന്നു ജനിക്കുന്നവൻ നിന്റെ സന്തതി എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും” എന്ന വാഗ്ദാനത്തെ സഹർഷം സ്വീകരിച്ചയാൾതന്നെ തന്റെ ഒരേയൊരു മകനെ യാഗാർപ്പണം ചെയ്യാൻ തയ്യാറായി.
18 about whom it was said, The seed by thee will be called in Isaac.
19 Having reckoned that God is able to raise up even from the dead, from where also, in a figure, he did receive him back.
മരിച്ചവരെ ഉയിർപ്പിക്കാൻ ദൈവം ശക്തനെന്ന് അബ്രാഹാം താത്ത്വികമായി ചിന്തിച്ചു. ഒരുപ്രകാരത്തിൽ അവനെ, മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് ഉത്ഥാനംചെയ്തവനായി തിരികെ ലഭിക്കുകതന്നെയായിരുന്നു.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau about things coming.
യിസ്ഹാക്ക് യാക്കോബിനെയും ഏശാവിനെയും വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവരുടെ ഭാവി മുൻകൂട്ടിക്കണ്ട് അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
21 By faith Jacob, while dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and bowed in worship upon the top of his staff.
ആസന്നമരണനായ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ വടിയുടെ തലയ്ക്കൽ ഊന്നിനിന്ന് യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ഇരുവരെയും വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
22 By faith Joseph, while perishing, remembered about the exodus of the sons of Israel, and commanded about his bones.
യോസേഫ് തന്റെ ജീവിതാന്ത്യത്തിൽ, ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നുള്ള ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ പലായനത്തിന്റെ കാര്യം, വിശ്വാസത്താൽ പരാമർശിക്കുകയും തന്റെ അസ്ഥികളുടെ പുനഃസംസ്കരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് നിർദേശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
23 By faith Moses, after being born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw the child well-formed, and they were not afraid of the king's edict.
മോശ ജനിച്ചപ്പോൾ, ശിശു അസാധാരണ സൗന്ദര്യം ഉള്ളവനെന്ന് അവന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ കണ്ടിട്ട് വിശ്വാസത്താൽ മൂന്നുമാസം അവനെ ഒളിച്ചുവെച്ചു. അവർ രാജാവിന്റെ ആജ്ഞയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടതേയില്ല.
24 By faith Moses, having become great, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
മോശ വളർന്നപ്പോൾ “ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ മകൻ” എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടാൻ വിസമ്മതിച്ചത് ഈ വിശ്വാസത്താൽത്തന്നെയാണ്.
25 having chosen rather to be mistreated with the people of God, than to have the pleasure of sin temporarily.
അദ്ദേഹം പാപത്തിന്റെ ക്ഷണനേരത്തേക്കുള്ള ആസ്വാദനത്തെക്കാൾ, ദൈവജനം സഹിക്കുന്ന കഷ്ടതയിൽ പങ്കുചേരുന്നത് തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു;
26 Having esteemed the vilification of the Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he focused toward the recompense of reward.
അദ്ദേഹം ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ അമൂല്യ സമ്പത്തിനെക്കാൾ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെപ്രതിയുള്ള അപമാനം മൂല്യമേറിയതെന്നു കരുതി. കാരണം മോശ ദൈവത്തിൽനിന്ന് തനിക്കു ലഭിക്കാനുള്ള പ്രതിഫലത്തിൽ സ്ഥിരചിത്തനായിരുന്നു.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not having feared the wrath of the king, for he persevered as seeing the invisible.
അദ്ദേഹം വിശ്വാസത്താൽ രാജകോപം ഭയപ്പെടാതെ ഈജിപ്റ്റ് വിട്ടുപോന്നു; അദൃശ്യനായ ദൈവത്തെ ദർശിച്ചു എന്നതുപോലെ തന്റെ പ്രയാണം തുടർന്നു.
28 By faith he performed the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that he who was destroying the firstborn would not touch them.
ആദ്യജാതന്മാരെ സംഹരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതൻ ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ആദ്യജാതന്മാരെ സ്പർശിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനായി മോശ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ പെസഹ ആചരിക്കുകയും രക്തം (വീടുകളുടെ കട്ടിളക്കാലുകളിലും കട്ടിളകളുടെ മീതേയുള്ള പടിയിലും) പുരട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land, of which the Egyptians, having taken an attempt, were drowned.
ഇസ്രായേല്യർ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ, ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തെന്നപോലെ ചെങ്കടൽ കടന്നു; എന്നാൽ അതിന് ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാർ പരിശ്രമിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവരെല്ലാം മുങ്ങിമരിച്ചു.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, having been encircled for seven days.
ഇസ്രായേൽസൈന്യം വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ഏഴുദിവസം യെരീഹോക്കോട്ട വലംവെച്ചു; അത് നിലംപൊത്തി.
31 By faith Rahab the harlot was not destroyed with those who were disobedient, having received the spies with peace.
രാഹാബ് എന്ന ഗണിക വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ചാരന്മാരെ സമാധാനത്തോടെ സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ട് വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരുന്ന മറ്റുള്ളവരോടൊപ്പം നശിക്കാതിരുന്നു.
32 And what shall I say further? For the time would fail me telling about Gideon, also Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets,
ഇതിലുപരിയായി എന്താണ് എഴുതേണ്ടത്? ഗിദെയോൻ, ബാരാക്ക്, ശിംശോൻ, യിപ്താഹ്, ദാവീദ്, ശമുവേൽ എന്നിവരെക്കുറിച്ചും പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചും ഇപ്പോൾ പരാമർശിക്കാൻ നിവൃത്തിയില്ല.
33 who, through faith, conquered kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, closed the mouths of lions,
അവർ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ പിടിച്ചടക്കി, നീതി നിർവഹിച്ചു, വാഗ്ദാനങ്ങൾ സ്വായത്തമാക്കി, സിംഹങ്ങളുടെ വായ് അടച്ചു,
34 quenched the force of fire, escaped the jaw of the sword. Out of weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, bowed down armies of aliens.
അഗ്നിജ്വാലകളുടെ തീക്ഷ്ണത ശമിപ്പിച്ചു, വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയിൽനിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു, ബലഹീനതയിൽനിന്ന് ശക്തിയാർജിച്ചു, അവർ വീരസേനാനികളായി ശത്രുസൈന്യത്തെ തുരത്തിയോടിച്ചു.
35 Women took hold of their dead from a resurrection, but others were tortured, not having accepted deliverance, so that they might experience a superior resurrection.
ചില സ്ത്രീകൾക്കു തങ്ങളുടെ മരിച്ചവരെ ജീവനോടെ തിരികെ കിട്ടി, മറ്റുചിലർ രക്ഷപ്പെടാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കാതെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ പുനരുത്ഥാനം ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന് മരണംവരെ പീഡനം ഏറ്റു.
36 And others took a trial of mockings and scourgings, and moreover of bonds and imprisonment.
വേറെചിലർ പരിഹാസം, ചമ്മട്ടിയടി, ചങ്ങല, തടവ് എന്നിവ സഹിച്ചു.
37 They were stoned, they were sawed apart, they were tempted, they died in murder by sword. They wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, restricted, tormented
ചിലർ കല്ലേറിനാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു, ഈർച്ചവാളാൽ പിളർത്തപ്പെട്ടു, വാളിനാൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു. ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളുടെയും കോലാടുകളുടെയും തുകൽ ധരിച്ച്,
38 (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth.
നിരാശ്രയരും പീഡിതരും നിന്ദിതരുമായി കാടുകളിലും മലകളിലും അലഞ്ഞുതിരിഞ്ഞു, ഗുഹകളിലും മാളങ്ങളിലുമായി ജീവിച്ചു. ലോകം അവർക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായിരുന്നില്ല.
39 And all these, having been well reported through faith, did not receive the promise,
അവർ എല്ലാവരും തങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന് അഭിനന്ദിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെങ്കിലും അവരിൽ ആരുംതന്നെ വാഗ്ദാനനിവൃത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചില്ല.
40 God having foreseen something superior concerning us, so that without us they would not be made fully perfect.
നമ്മോടുചേർന്ന് അവരും പൂർണത പ്രാപിക്കാനായി ദൈവം നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി ഏറ്റവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായതു കരുതിയിരുന്നു.
