Haggai 2

1 In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

در روز بیست و یکم ماه هفتم همان سال، خداوند به حَجَّی گفت:

2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

«اکنون با زَروبابِل فرزند شِئَلتیئیل، فرماندار یهودا، یِهوشَع فرزند یِهوصاداق، کاهن اعظم، و نیز با تمامی باقیماندگان قوم سخن بگو و از ایشان بپرس:

3 Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? And how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes as nothing?

”آیا کسی در بین شما هست که شکوه و عظمت خانهٔ خدا را آن طوری که در سابق بود به خاطر آورد؟ آیا این خانه‌ای که می‌سازید در مقایسه با خانهٔ قبلی به نظر شما ناچیز نمی‌آید؟

4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, says Jehovah, and be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and be strong, all ye people of the land, says Jehovah, and work. For I am with you, says Jehovah of hosts,

اما اکنون خداوند می‌فرماید: هر چند به ظاهر چنین است اما مأیوس نشوید. ای زروبابِل و یهوشع و همهٔ قوم، قوی دل باشید و کار کنید، چون من با شما هستم. این را خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌گوید.

5 according to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, and my Spirit abode among you. Fear ye not.

وقتی از مصر بیرون می‌آمدید به شما وعده دادم که روح من در میان شما می‌ماند؛ پس ترسان نباشید!“

6 For thus says Jehovah of hosts: Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.

«زیرا خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: بار دیگر آسمانها و زمین، دریاها و خشکی را به لرزه درمی‌آورم.

7 And I will shake all nations, and the precious things of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Jehovah of hosts.

تمام قومها را سرنگون می‌کنم، و ثروت آنها به این خانه سرازیر می‌شود. و خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌گوید: من این مکان را با جلال خود پر می‌سازم.

8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says Jehovah of hosts.

خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: تمام طلا و نقرهٔ دنیا از آن من است.

9 The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says Jehovah of hosts, and in this place I will give peace, says Jehovah of hosts.

خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌گوید: شکوه و عظمت آیندهٔ این خانه از شکوه و عظمت خانهٔ قبلی بیشتر خواهد بود و در این مکان به قوم خود صلح و سلامتی خواهم بخشید.» این است آنچه خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید.

10 In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

در روز بیست و چهارم ماه نهم از دومین سال سلطنت داریوش، این پیام از جانب خداوند به حَجَّی نبی نازل شد:

11 Thus says Jehovah of hosts: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

«خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: از کاهنان بخواه تا جواب شرعی این سؤال را بدهند:

12 If a man bears holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt touches bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it become holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

”اگر کسی قسمتی از گوشت مقدّس قربانی را در دامن ردایش گذاشته آن را حمل کند و برحسب اتفاق ردایش با نان، آش، شراب، روغن و یا هر نوع خوراک دیگری تماس پیدا کند، آیا آن خوراک مقدّس می‌شود؟“» کاهنان جواب دادند: «نه، مقدّس نمی‌شود؟»

13 Then Haggai said, If a man who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

سپس حَجَّی پرسید: «و اما اگر شخصی به جسد مرده‌ای دست بزند و بدین ترتیب نجس شود و بعد به یکی از این خوراکها دست بزند، آیا آن خوراک نجس می‌شود؟» کاهنان جواب دادند: «بلی، نجس می‌شود.»

14 Then Haggai answered and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, says Jehovah, and so is every work of their hands. And that which they offer there is unclean.

پس حَجَّی گفت: «خداوند می‌فرماید شما نیز در نظر من همین‌طور نجس هستید و هر کاری که می‌کنید و هر قربانی که به خانۀ من می‌آورید، نجس است.

15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of Jehovah.

خوب فکر کنید و ببینید قبل از اینکه دست به کار ساختن خانهٔ خداوند بزنید وضع شما چگونه بود.

16 Through all that time, when a man came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but ten. When he came to the wine vat to draw out fifty vessels, there were but twenty.

در آن روزها وقتی انتظار داشتید دو خروار محصول برداشت کنید، فقط نصف آن به دستتان می‌رسید، و هنگامی که به امید پنجاه لیتر شراب به سراغ خمره‌هایتان می‌رفتید، بیشتر از بیست لیتر نمی‌یافتید.

17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the work of your hands, yet ye turned not to me, says Jehovah.

من محصولات شما را با باد سوزان، آفت و تگرگ از بین بردم، اما با وجود همهٔ اینها به سوی من بازگشت نکردید.

18 Consider, I pray you, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Jehovah's temple was laid, consider it.

ولی از امروز که روز بیست و چهارم ماه نهم و روزی است که بنیاد خانهٔ خدا گذاشته شده است، ببینید من برای شما چه خواهم کرد.

19 Is the seed yet in the barn? Yea, the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth. From this day I will bless you.

اگرچه غله‌ای در انبارها باقی نمانده، و هنوز درختان انگور، انجیر، انار و زیتون میوه نداده‌اند، ولی من به شما برکت خواهم داد.»

20 And the word of Jehovah came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

در همان روز پیام دیگری از جانب خداوند به حَجَّی رسید:

21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth.

«به زروبابِل، حاکم یهودا بگو که به‌زودی آسمانها و زمین را به لرزه درمی‌آورم،

22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. And I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them. And the horses and their riders shall come down, each one by the sword of his brother.

تختهای فرمانروایان را واژگون می‌سازم و قدرت آنان را از بین می‌برم. ارابه‌ها و سواران را سرنگون می‌کنم، و اسبها کشته می‌شوند و سوارانشان یکدیگر را با شمشیر از پای در می‌آورند.

23 In that day, says Jehovah of hosts, I will take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, says Jehovah, and will make thee as a signet. For I have chosen thee, says Jehovah of hosts.

«خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: وقتی که این امور واقع گردد، ای زروبابِل، خدمتگزار من، تو برای من مانند نگین انگشتر خواهی بود، زیرا تو را برگزیده‌ام.» این است آنچه خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید.
