Haggai 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
Im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius, im sechsten Monat am ersten Monatstag, erging das Wort des Herrn durch den Propheten Aggäus an den Statthalter von Juda, Zorobabel, Salatiels Sohn, sowie an den Hohenpriester Josue, Josadaks Sohn, also lautend:
2 Thus speaks Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, It is not the time for us to come, the time for Jehovah's house to be built.
So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Die Leute sagen, die Zeit sei noch nicht da, das Haus des Herrn zu bauen."
3 Then the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
Darauf erging das Wort des Herrn durch den Propheten Aggäus, also lautend:
4 Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house lies waste?
"Ist es denn Zeit für euch, in euren Häusern, den getäfelten, zu ruhn, obgleich dies Haus in Trümmern liegt?
5 Now therefore thus says Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
Nun überlegt einmal", so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, "wie's euch bisher ergangen ist!
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little. Ye eat, but ye have not enough. Ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink. Ye clothe yourselves, but there is none warm. And he who earns wages earns wages to put into a bag with holes.
Ihr sät viel aus; doch wenig erntet ihr. Ihr esset, werdet aber nimmer satt; ihr trinket, werdet nimmer froh. Ihr ziehet Kleider an und werdet nimmer warm, und wer um Lohn arbeitet, tut ihn in einen löcherigen Beutel."
7 Thus says Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Überlegt doch, wie es euch bisher erging!
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house. And I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says Jehovah.
Dann steiget auf die Berge! Herbei mit Holz und baut das Haus! Dies wird mich freuen und mich ehren." So spricht der Herr.
9 Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little, and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. Why? says Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lays waste while ye run each man to his own house.
"Ihr machtet Platz für viel und seht: Es ward nur weniger. Und was ihr eingeheimst, das blies ich weg. Weshalb?" Ein Spruch des Herrn der Heerscharen. "Um meines Hauses willen, das in Trümmern liegt, und jeder unter euch ist nur geschäftig für sein Haus.
10 Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.
Deshalb hält über euch der Himmel seinen Tau zurück, und den Ertrag versagt die Erde.
11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.
Und ich rief Dürre über Land und Berge und über Korn und Most und Öl herbei und über alles, was der Boden trägt, und über Mensch und Vieh und aller Hände Arbeit."
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him. And the people feared before Jehovah.
Da hörten Zorobabel, Salatiels Sohn, und Josue, der Sohn des Josadak, der Hohepriester, sowie der ganze Rest des Volkes auf die Stimme ihres Herrn und Gottes, das heißt auf des Aggäus, des Propheten, Worte, sobald der Herr, ihr Gott, ihn abgesandt. Furcht vor dem Herrn befiel das Volk.
13 Then Haggai, Jehovah's agent, spoke in Jehovah's message to the people, saying, I am with you, says Jehovah.
Da sprach Aggäus, des Herren Bote, gemäß des Herren Botschaft zu dem Volk: "Ich werde mit euch sein." Ein Spruch des Herrn.
14 And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
Und da erweckte Gott den Geist Zorobabels, des Sohns Salatiels, des Statthalters von Juda, sowie den Geist des Hohenpriesters Josue, des Sohnes Josadaks, und den des ganzen Volksrestes. Und so begannen sie die Arbeit an dem Haus des Herrn der Heerscharen und ihres Gottes,
15 in the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
am vierundzwanzigsten des sechsten Monats, im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius.
