Genesis 30

1 And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no sons, Rachel envied her sister, and she said to Jacob, Give me sons, or else I die.

Y Raquel, porque no tenía hijos, estaba llena de envidia de su hermana; y ella le dijo a Jacob: Si no me das hijos, no seguiré viviendo.

2 And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel, and he said, Am I in God's stead, who has withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

Pero Jacob se enojó contra Raquel, y dijo: ¿Soy yo en el lugar de Dios, que ha impedido que tu cuerpo tenga fruto?

3 And she said, Behold, my maid Bilhah, go in to her, that she may bear upon my knees, and I also may obtain sons by her.

Entonces ella dijo: Aquí está mi sierva Bilha, ve a ella, para que ella tenga un niño sobre mis rodillas, y yo pueda tener una familia junto a ella.

4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife, and Jacob went in to her.

Entonces ella le dio a su sierva Bilha como esposa, y Jacob se unió a ella.

5 And Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

Y Bilhah engendró, y dio a luz un hijo.

6 And Rachel said, God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son. Therefore she called his name Dan.

Entonces dijo Raquel: Dios es mi juez, y ha prestado oído a mi voz, y me ha dado un hijo; así que se llamó Dan.

7 And Bilhah Rachel's handmaid conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.

Y otra vez Bilha, sierva de Raquel, estaba encinta, y dio a luz un segundo hijo.

8 And Rachel said, With mighty wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed. And she called his name Naphtali.

Y dijo Raquel: He tenido una gran pelea con mi hermana, y la he vencido; y ella le dio el nombre de Nephtali al niño.

9 When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob to wife.

Cuando a Lea le quedó claro que no tendría más hijos por un tiempo, dio a Zilpa, su sierva, a Jacob como esposa.

10 And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a son.

Y Zilpa, sierva de Lea, dio a luz un hijo.

11 And Leah said, Fortunate! And she called his name Gad.

Y Lea dijo: Me ha ido bien, y le dio el nombre de Gad.

12 And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a second son.

Y Zilpa, sierva de Lea, dio a luz un segundo hijo.

13 And Leah said, Happy am I! For the daughters will call me happy. And she called his name Asher.

Y Lea dijo: ¡Feliz yo! y todas las mujeres darán testimonio de mi alegría: y ella le dio el nombre de Aser.

14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.

En el momento de cortar el grano, Rubén vio algunas mandrágoras en el campo, y se las llevó a su madre Lea. Y Raquel le dijo: Dame algunas de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

15 And she said to her, Is it a small matter that thou have taken away my husband? And would thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee tonight for thy son's mandrakes.

Pero Lea le dijo: ¿Es poco lo que me has quitado a mi marido? y ahora tomarías las mandrágoras de mi hijo? Entonces Raquel dijo: Puedes tenerlo esta noche a cambio de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

16 And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in to me, for I have surely hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.

Por la tarde, cuando Jacob vino del campo, Lea salió a él y le dijo: Esta noche vendrás a mí, porque yo te he alquilado por las mandrágoras de mi hijo. Y él fue a ella esa noche.

17 And God hearkened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.

Y Dios la oyó y ella engendró, y dio a Jacob un quinto hijo.

18 And Leah said, God has given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband. And she called his name Issachar.

Entonces dijo Lea: Dios me ha pagado por haberle dado mi sierva a mi marido, y le dio a su hijo el nombre de Isacar.

19 And Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.

Y otra vez Lea se hizo concebir, y ella dio a Jacob un sexto hijo.

20 And Leah said, God has endowed me with a good dowry. Now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons. And she called his name Zebulun.

Y ella dijo: Dios me ha dado un buen dote; ahora, por fin, tendré a mi esposo viviendo conmigo, porque le he dado seis hijos; y ella le dio el nombre de Zabulón.

21 And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah.

Después de eso ella tuvo una hija, a quien le dio el nombre de Dina.

22 And God remembered Rachel. And God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

Entonces Dios pensó en Raquel, y al escuchar su oración la hizo fértil.

23 And she conceived, and bore a son, and said, God has taken away my reproach.

Y ella estaba encinta, y dio a luz un hijo; y ella dijo: Dios se ha llevado mi vergüenza.

24 And she called his name Joseph, saying, Jehovah adds another son to me.

Y le dio el nombre de José, diciendo: ¡Que el Señor me dé otro hijo!

25 And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, that I may go to my own place, and to my country.

Y después del nacimiento de José, Jacob dijo a Labán: Déjame ir a mi lugar y a mi país.

26 Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served thee, and let me go, for thou know my service with which I have served thee.

Dame mis mujeres y mis hijos, por quienes he sido tu siervo, y déjame ir, porque tú tienes conocimiento de todo el trabajo que he hecho por ti.

27 And Laban said to him, If now I have found favor in thine eyes, tarry, for I have learned by experience that Jehovah has blessed me for thy sake.

Y Labán dijo: Si me permites que lo diga, no te vayas; porque he visto por las señales de que el Señor ha sido bueno conmigo por causa de ti.

28 And he said, Appoint for me thy wages, and I will give it.

Di, entonces, cuál será tu pago y yo te lo daré.

29 And he said to him, Thou know how I have served thee, and how thy cattle have fared with me.

Entonces Jacob dijo: Tú has visto lo que he hecho por ti, y cómo tu ganado ha hecho bien bajo mi cuidado.

30 For it was little which thou had before I came, and it has increased to a multitude, and Jehovah has blessed thee wherever I turned. And now when shall I provide for my own house also?

Porque antes de que yo llegara tenías poco, y ha sido grandemente aumentado; y el Señor te ha dado una bendición en todo lo que hice; pero ¿cuándo debo hacer algo por mi familia?

31 And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shall not give me anything. If thou will do this thing for me, I will again feed thy flock and keep it.

Y Labán dijo: ¿Qué he de darte? Y Jacob dijo: No me des nada; pero volveré a ocuparme del cuidado de tu rebaño si solo haces esto por mí:

32 I will pass through all thy flock today, removing from there every speckled and spotted one, and every black one among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and of such shall be my hire.

Déjame ir a través de todos tus rebaños hoy, sacando de entre ellos todas las ovejas que están marcadas o coloreadas o negras, y todas las cabras marcadas o de color: estas serán mi pago.

33 So shall my righteousness answer for me after this, when thou shall come concerning my hire that is before thee. Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and black among the sheep, that is with me, shall be considered stolen.

Y así podrás poner a prueba mi honor en el futuro; si ves entre mis rebaños a las cabras que no están marcadas o coloreadas, o cualquier oveja que no sea negra, puedes tomarme por un ladrón.

34 And Laban said, Behold, O that it might be according to thy word.

Y Labán dijo: Deja que sea como dices.

35 And he removed that day the he-goats that were ringstreaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the black ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

Y tomó aquel día todos los machos cabríos que estaban listados o pintados, y todas las colas que estaban marcadas o coloreadas o tenían marcas blancas, y todas las ovejas negras, y las puso al cuidado de sus hijos;

36 And he set three days' journey between himself and Jacob. And Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.

Y los envió a tres días de viaje, y Jacob se hizo cargo del resto del rebaño de Labán.

37 And Jacob took for him rods of fresh poplar, and of the almond and of the plane tree, and peeled white streaks in them, and made the white which was in the rods appear.

Entonces Jacob tomó ramas verdes de árboles, y cortó la piel para que la madera blanca se viera en bandas.

38 And he set the rods which he had peeled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink. And they conceived when they came to drink.

Y él puso los palos con bandas en los bebederos donde el rebaño iba a buscar agua; y procrearon cuando venían a beber.

39 And the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth ringstreaked, speckled, and spotted.

Y debido a esto, el rebaño dio a luz a los borregos que fueron marcados con bandas de color.

40 And Jacob separated the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstreaked and all the black in the flock of Laban. And he put his own herds apart, and did not put them near Laban's flock.

Estos corderos Jacob se mantuvieron separados; y él puso su rebaño en un lugar solo y no con el rebaño de Labán.

41 And it came to pass, whenever the stronger of the flock conceived, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods,

Y cuando los más fuertes del rebaño se unían para tener crías, Jacob les ponía los palos en los bebederos, para que en el momento de unirse vieran los palos.

42 but when the flock were weak, he did not put them in. So the weaker were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.

Pero cuando las ovejas más flacas, no les puso los palos; de modo que las bandadas más débiles eran de Labán y las más fuertes eran de Jacob.

43 And the man increased exceedingly, and had large flocks, and maid-servants and men-servants, and camels and donkeys.

Así que la riqueza de Jacob se incrementó en gran manera; tenía grandes rebaños y sirvientas y sirvientes, camellos y asnos.
