Genesis 23
1 And the life of Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years. These were the years of the life of Sarah.
Και έζησεν η Σάρρα εκατόν εικοσιεπτά έτη· ταύτα είναι τα έτη της ζωής της Σάρρας.
2 And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
Και απέθανεν η Σάρρα εν Κιριάθ-αρβά· αύτη είναι η Χεβρών εν γη Χαναάν· και ήλθεν ο Αβραάμ διά να κλαύση την Σάρραν και να πενθήση αυτήν.
3 And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,
Και σηκωθείς ο Αβραάμ απ' έμπροσθεν του νεκρού αυτού, ελάλησε προς τους υιούς του Χετ λέγων,
4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me a possession of a burying place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
ξένος και πάροικος είμαι εγώ μεταξύ σας· δότε μοι κτήμα τάφου μεταξύ σας, διά να θάψω τον νεκρόν μου απ' έμπροσθέν μου.
5 And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,
Απεκρίθησαν δε οι υιοί του Χετ προς τον Αβραάμ λέγοντες προς αυτόν,
6 Hear us, my lord. Thou are a prince of God among us. Bury thy dead in our choice sepulchers. None of us shall withhold from thee his sepulcher, but that thou may bury thy dead.
Άκουσον ημάς, κύριέ μου· συ είσαι μεταξύ ημών ηγεμών εκ Θεού· θάψον τον νεκρόν σου εις το εκλεκτότερον εκ των μνημείων ημών· ουδείς εξ ημών θέλει αρνηθή το μνημείον αυτού προς σε, διά να θάψης τον νεκρόν σου.
7 And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the sons of Heth.
Τότε σηκωθείς ο Αβραάμ προσεκύνησε προς τον λαόν του τόπου, προς τους υιούς του Χέτ·
8 And he conversed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
και ελάλησε προς αυτούς λέγων, Εάν ευαρεστήται η ψυχή σας να θάψω τον νεκρόν μου απ' έμπροσθέν μου, ακούσατέ μου και μεσιτεύσατε υπέρ εμού προς τον Εφρών τον υιόν του Σωάρ,
9 that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he has, which is in the end of his field. Let him give it to me for the full price in the midst of you for a possession of a burying place.
και ας μοι δώση το σπήλαιον αυτού Μαχπελάχ, το εν τη άκρα του αγρού αυτού· εις πλήρη τιμήν ας μοι δώση αυτό, διά κτήμα τάφου μεταξύ σας.
10 Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the sons of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,
Ο δε Εφρών εκάθητο εν τω μέσω των υιών του Χέτ· και απεκρίθη ο Εφρών ο Χετταίος προς τον Αβραάμ εις επήκοον των υιών του Χετ, πάντων των εισερχομένων εις την πύλην της πόλεως αυτού, λέγων,
11 No, my lord, hear me. I give thee the field. And the cave that is in it, I give it to thee. I give it to thee in the presence of the sons of my people. Bury thy dead.
Ουχί, κύριέ μου, άκουσόν μου· σοι δίδω τον αγρόν, σοι δίδω και το σπήλαιον το εν αυτώ· επί παρουσία των υιών του λαού μου δίδω αυτά εις σέ· θάψον τον νεκρόν σου.
12 And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.
Και προσεκύνησεν ο Αβραάμ έμπροσθεν του λαού του τόπου·
13 And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou will, I pray thee, hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it from me, and I will bury my dead there.
και είπε προς τον Εφρών εις επήκοον του λαού του τόπου λέγων, Εάν συ θέλης, άκουσόν μου, παρακαλώ· θέλω δώσει το αργύριον του αγρού· λάβε αυτό παρ' εμού, και θέλω θάψει τον νεκρόν μου εκεί.
14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,
Ο δε Εφρών απεκρίθη προς τον Αβραάμ, λέγων προς αυτόν,
15 My lord, hearken to me. A piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and thee? Therefore bury thy dead.
Ακουσόν μου, κύριέ μου· γη τετρακοσίων σίκλων αργυρίου, τι είναι μεταξύ εμού και σου; θάψον λοιπόν τον νεκρόν σου.
16 And Abraham hearkened to Ephron. And Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver that he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
Και ήκουσεν ο Αβραάμ τον Εφρών· και εζύγισεν ο Αβραάμ εις τον Εφρών το αργύριον, το οποίον είπεν εις επήκοον των υιών του Χετ τετρακοσίους σίκλους αργυρίου, δεκτού μεταξύ εμπόρων.
17 So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border of it round about, were made sure
Και ο αγρός του Εφρών, όστις ήτο εν Μαχπελάχ, έμπροσθεν της Μαμβρή, ο αγρός και το σπήλαιον το εν αυτώ και πάντα τα δένδρα τα εν τω αγρώ και εν πάσι τοις ορίοις κύκλω, ησφαλίσθησαν
18 to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.
εις τον Αβραάμ διά κτήμα, ενώπιον των υιών του Χετ, ενώπιον πάντων των εισερχομένων εις την πύλην της πόλεως αυτού.
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan.
Και μετά ταύτα έθαψεν ο Αβραάμ Σάρραν την γυναίκα αυτού εν τω σπηλαίω του αγρού Μαχπελάχ, έμπροσθεν της Μαμβρή· αύτη είναι Χεβρών εν γη Χαναάν.
20 And the field, and the cave that is in it, were made sure to Abraham for a possession of a burying place by the sons of Heth.
Και ο αγρός και το σπήλαιον το εν αυτώ, ησφαλίσθησαν εις τον Αβραάμ διά κτήμα τάφον παρά των υιών του Χετ.
