< Ezekiel 14 >
1 Then certain of the elders of Israel came to me, and sat before me.
Pea naʻe toki haʻu kiate au ʻae niʻihi ʻi he kau mātuʻa ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻonau nofo mai ʻi hoku ʻao.
2 And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
Pea naʻe hoko mai kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
3 Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face. Should I be inquired of at all by them?
“Foha ʻoe tangata, kuo fokotuʻu ʻe he kau tangata ni honau ngaahi tamapua ʻi honau loto, pea ʻai mo e tūkiaʻanga ʻo ʻenau hia ʻi honau ʻao: ʻoku ngali koā ke fakafehuʻi ha meʻa kiate au ʻekinautolu?”
4 Therefore speak to them, and say to them, Thus says the lord Jehovah: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet, I Jehovah will answer him in it according to the multitude of his idols,
Ko ia ke ke lea kiate kinautolu, pea ke pehē kiate kinautolu, “ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; Ko e tangata kotoa pē ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli ʻaia ʻoku fokotuʻu tamapua ʻi hono loto, mo ne ʻai ʻae tūkiaʻanga ʻo ʻene hia ʻi hono ʻao, pea ʻoku haʻu ki he palōfita, Ko au ko Sihova, te u tali ia, ʻo fakatatau mo e tokolahi ʻo ʻene ngaahi tamapua;
5 that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
Koeʻuhi ke u moʻua ʻae fale ʻo ʻIsileli ʻi honau loto ʻonautolu pe, koeʻuhi kuo nau mavahe kotoa pē meiate au, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau ngaahi tamapua.
6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the lord Jehovah: Return ye, and turn yourselves from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
“Ko ia ke ke lea ki he fale ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; Fakatomala pea tafoki mei hoʻomou ngaahi tamapua; pea tafoki homou mata mei hoʻomou ngaahi fakalielia kotoa pē.
7 For everyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, that separates himself from me, and takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire for himself of me, I Jehovah will answer him by myself.
He ko ia kotoa pē ʻi he fale ʻo ʻIsileli, pe ko e muli ʻoku ʻāunofo ʻi ʻIsileli, ʻaia ʻoku mavahe ʻe ia ia meiate au, ʻo ne fokotuʻu ʻene ngaahi tamapua ʻi hono loto, ʻo ne ʻai ʻae tūkiaʻanga ʻo ʻene hia ʻi hono ʻao, pea ʻoku haʻu ki he palōfita ke fakafehuʻi kiate ia koeʻuhi ko au; Ko au ko Sihova te u tali ia ʻeau pe.
8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb. And I will cut him off from the midst of my people. And ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
9 And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, I, Jehovah, have deceived that prophet. And I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
Pea kapau ʻe kākaaʻi ʻae palōfita ʻoka lea ʻaki ʻe ia ha meʻa, ko au ia ko Sihova ʻoku fakahalaia ia, pea te u mafao atu kiate ia ʻa hoku nima, pea fakaʻauha ia mei he lotolotonga ʻo hoku kakai ko ʻIsileli,
10 And they shall bear their iniquity. The iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him who seeks him,
Pea te nau fua ʻae tautea ʻo ʻenau angahala: ʻe tatau pe ʻae tautea ʻoe palōfita mo e tautea ʻo ia ʻoku kumi kiate ia;
11 that the house of Israel may no more go astray from me, nor defile themselves any more with all their transgressions, but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, says the lord Jehovah.
Koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa toe ʻalu pehē ʻae fale ʻo ʻIsileli meiate au, pea ʻoua naʻa toe fakalielia ia ʻi heʻenau ngaahi angahala; ka nau hoko ko hoku kakai, pea u hoko au ko honau ʻOtua:” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
12 And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
Naʻe toe hoko kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
13 Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand upon it, and break the staff of the bread thereof, and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast,
“Foha ʻoe tangata, ʻoka angahala ʻae fonua kiate au ʻi heʻene fai kovi lahi, te u toki mafao atu ai hoku nima, pea ʻe maumau ʻae falalaʻanga ʻoe mā ʻoku ʻi ai, pea te u tuku ia ke hongea, pea motuhi mei ai ʻae tangata mo e manu:
14 though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, says the lord Jehovah.
Ka ne ʻi ai ʻae kau tangata ni ʻe toko tolu, ʻa Noa, mo Taniela, mo Siope, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ʻe fakamoʻui honau laumālie pe ʻonautolu ʻi heʻenau māʻoniʻoni.
15 If I cause evil beasts to pass through the land, and they ravage it, and it be made desolate, so that no man may pass through because of the beasts,
“Kapau te u tuku ʻae fanga manu fekai ke ʻalu fano ʻi he fonua, pea nau maumauʻi ia, koeʻuhi ke hoko ia ʻo lala, pea ʻe ʻikai ʻalu ʻi ai ha tangata telia ʻae ngaahi manu fekai:
16 though these three men were in it, as I live, says the lord Jehovah, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, they only would be delivered, but the land would be desolate.
17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off from it man and beast,
“Pea kapau te u ʻomi ʻae heletā ke hoko ki he fonua, pea u pehē, Heletā ʻasi atu ki he fonua; kau motuhi mei ai ʻae tangata pea mo e manu:
18 though these three men were in it, as I live, says the lord Jehovah, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only would be delivered themselves.
19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast,
“Pea kapau te u tuku ʻae mahaki fakaʻauha ki he fonua, pea u lilingi hoku houhau ki ai ʻi he toto, ke motuhi mei ai ʻae tangata pea mo e manu:
20 though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, says the lord Jehovah, they would deliver neither son nor daughter, they would but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
Neongo ʻoku hā ai ʻa Noa, mo Taniela, mo Siope, hangē ʻoku ou moʻui, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ʻe ʻikai te nau fakamoʻui ha foha pe ha ʻofefine; ngata ʻi honau laumālie pe ʻonautolu ʻe hao ʻi heʻenau māʻoniʻoni.”
21 For thus says the lord Jehovah: How much more when I send my four severe judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil beasts, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; “Kae fēfē nai ʻo kau ka tuku atu fakataha ʻae fakamalaʻia ʻe fā ki Selūsalema, ʻae heletā, mo e honge, mo e fanga manu fekai, pea mo e mahaki fakaʻauha, ke motuhi mei ai ʻae tangata mo e manu?
22 Yet, behold, there shall be left a remnant in it that shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters. Behold, they shall come forth to you, and ye shall see their way and their doings. And ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
“Kae vakai, ʻe fakatoe ha niʻihi ʻi ai ke fakahaofi, ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine: vakai te nau ʻomi kituʻa kiate kimoutolu, pea te mou mamata ki honau hala mo ʻenau faianga; pea te mou fiemālie mei he kovi ʻaia kuo u ʻomi ki Selūsalema, ʻio, ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē kuo u fakahoko ki ai.
23 And they shall comfort you when ye see their way and their doings. And ye shall know that I have not done all that I have done in it without cause, says the lord Jehovah.
Pea te nau fakafiemālieʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻoka mou ka mamata ki honau hala mo ʻenau faianga: pea te mou ʻilo ʻoku ʻikai te u fai noa pe ha meʻa ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē ʻaia kuo u fai ki ai,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
