Exodus 22
1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
Wenn jemand ein Rind oder ein Schaf stiehlt und dann es schlachtet oder es verkauft, dann gebe er für das Rind fünf und für das Schaf vier andere!
2 If the thief is found breaking in, and be smitten so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him.
Wird ein Dieb beim Einbruch ertappt und dann totgeschlagen, so entsteht seinetwegen keine Blutschuld.
3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be bloodguiltiness for him. A thief shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
Hat dabei aber schon die Sonne geschienen, dann ist seinethalben Blutschuld. Ersatz muß der Dieb leisten. Hat er nichts, dann werde er für seinen Diebstahl verkauft.
4 If the theft is found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.
Wird bei ihm das Gestohlene, Rind, Esel oder Schaf noch lebend gefunden, dann leiste er nur doppelte Buße!
5 If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall let his beast loose, and it feeds in another man's field, he shall make restitution of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard.
Läßt jemand ein Feld oder einen Weinberg abweiden und läßt er das Vieh laufen, daß es ein anderes Feld abweidet, dann gebe er zum Ersatz das Beste von seinem Feld und Weinberg!
6 If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns, so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed, he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
Wenn Feuer auskommt und Gestrüpp ergreift und ein Getreidehaufen wird dabei verbrannt oder das Korn auf dem Halm oder das Feld, dann ersetze, wer den Brand entzündet hat!
7 If a man shall deliver to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house, if the thief be found, he shall pay double.
Wenn jemand seinem Genossen Geld gibt oder Geräte zum Aufheben und dies ist aus dem Hause des Mannes gestohlen worden, dann ersetze der Dieb doppelt, falls er entdeckt wird!
8 If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to see whether he has not put his hand to his neighbor's goods.
Wird aber der Dieb nicht entdeckt, dann trete der Hausherr vor die Gottheit, wenn er sich nicht an des anderen Habe vergriffen hat!
9 For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, of which a man says, This is it, the case of both parties shall come before God. He whom God shall condemn shall pay double to his neighbor.
Bei Unterschlagung eines Rindes, eines Esels, eines Schafes, eines Mantels, bei allem, was abhanden gekommen und wovon man sagt: 'Das ist es', komme vor die Gottheit der beiden Sache! Wen Gott schuldig spricht, der ersetze dem anderen doppelt!
10 If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep, and it dies, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it,
Wenn jemand einem anderen Esel oder Rinder oder Schafe oder sonst ein Tier zu hüten gibt und es stirbt oder wird verstümmelt oder verschleppt und keiner sieht es,
11 the oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, whether he has not put his hand to his neighbor's goods. And the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.
dann entscheidet zwischen beiden der Schwur beim Herrn, er habe nicht seine Hand an des anderen Habe gelegt. Das nehme der Besitzer an, und jener hat nichts zu ersetzen!
12 But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to the owner of it.
Ward es aber in seinem Beisein gestohlen, dann ersetze er dem Eigentümer!
13 If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He shall not make good that which was torn.
Und wenn es zerrissen ward und er kann des zerrissenen Tieres Fell vorlegen, dann ersetze er nichts!
14 And if a man borrows anything of his neighbor, and it be hurt, or die, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.
Wenn aber jemand eins vom anderen entlehnt und es wird verstümmelt oder stirbt, dann ersetze er, wenn sein Besitzer nicht zugegen war!
15 If the owner of it is with it, he shall not make it good. If it be a hired thing, it came for its hire.
War aber der Besitzer da, dann ersetze er nichts! War es gemietet, bekommt er dafür den Mietpreis.
16 And if a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife.
Betört jemand eine noch nicht verlobte Jungfrau und wohnt er ihr bei, dann mache er sie durch Morgengabe zum Weib!
17 If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
Weigert sich aber ihr Vater, sie ihm zu geben, so zahle er nach der Brautgabe der Jungfrauen!
18 Thou shall not allow a sorceress to live.
Du sollst nicht eine Verführerin aufziehen!
19 Whoever lies with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Wer einem Tier beiwohnt, sterbe des Todes!
20 He who sacrifices to any god, except to Jehovah only, shall be utterly destroyed.
Wer den Göttern opfert, sei im Banne! Einzig und allein dem Herrn!
21 And thou shall not wrong a sojourner, neither shall thou oppress him, for ye were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
Einen Fremdling sollst du nicht drücken noch quälen! Auch ihr seid Fremdlinge im Land Ägypten gewesen.
22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
Ihr sollt nie Witwen und Waisen bedrücken!
23 If thou afflict them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry,
Drückst du sie, dann schreit sie zu mir, und ich höre ihr Schreien.
24 and my wrath shall grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall be widows, and your sons fatherless.
Aufflammt mein Zorn, und mit dem Schwerte töt ich euch, und eure Weiber werden Witwen, und Waisen eure Kinder.
25 If thou lend money to any of my people with thee who is poor, thou shall not be to him as a creditor, neither shall ye lay upon him interest.
Leihst du Geld meinem Volk, dem Armen bei dir, sei ihm nie wie ein Wucherer! Zins sollt ihr ihm nicht auferlegen!
26 If thou at all take thy neighbor's garment to pledge, thou shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,
Pfändest du des Genossen Mantel, gib ihn zurück bis zum Sonnenuntergang!
27 for that is his only covering. It is his garment for his skin. How shall he sleep? And it shall come to pass, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.
Denn er ist seine einzige Hülle, für seine Haut sein Kleid. Worin soll er sich schlafen legen? Schreit er zu mir, dann höre ich darauf. Denn ich bin mitleidsvoll.
28 Thou shall not revile God, nor speak ill of a ruler of thy people.
Du sollst Gott nicht lästern. Du sollst keinem Fürsten deines Volkes fluchen!
29 Thou shall not delay to offer from thy harvest, and from the outflow of thy presses. The firstborn of thy sons thou shall give to me.
Hinterziehen sollst du nicht deine Fülle noch dein Tröpflein! Gib mir deiner Söhne Erstgeborenen!
30 Likewise thou shall do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep. Seven days it shall be with its dam. On the eighth day thou shall give it me.
So sollst du auch mit deinem Rinde und deinem Schafe tun! Bei seiner Mutter bleibe es sieben Tage! Am achten magst du es mir bringen.
31 And ye shall be holy men to me. Therefore ye shall not eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field. Ye shall cast it to the dogs.
Heilige Männer sollt ihr mir sein! Zerrissenes Wildfleisch sollt ihr nicht essen! Den Hunden sollt ihr es vorwerfen!
