Ecclesiastes 3
1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
೧ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ನಿಗದಿಯಾದ ಸಮಯವಿದೆ, ಆಕಾಶದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೂ ತಕ್ಕ ಸಮಯವುಂಟು.
2 a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted,
೨ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಸಮಯ, ಸಾಯುವ ಸಮಯ, ನೆಡುವ ಸಮಯ, ನೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಹಾಕುವ ಸಮಯ,
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to break down, and a time to build up,
೩ಕೊಲ್ಲುವ ಸಮಯ, ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡುವ ಸಮಯ ಕೆಡುವಿಬಿಡುವ ಸಮಯ, ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಸಮಯ,
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance,
೪ಅಳುವ ಸಮಯ, ನಗುವ ಸಮಯ, ಗೋಳಾಡುವ ಸಮಯ, ಕುಣಿದಾಡುವ ಸಮಯ,
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing,
೫ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಚೆಲ್ಲುವ ಸಮಯ, ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುವ ಸಮಯ, ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಮಯ ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಿರುವ ಸಮಯ,
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose, a time to keep, and a time to cast away,
೬ಸಂಪಾದಿಸುವ ಸಮಯ, ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಮಯ, ಕಾಪಾಡುವ ಸಮಯ, ಬಿಸಾಡುವ ಸಮಯ,
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak,
೭ಹರಿಯುವ ಸಮಯ, ಹೊಲಿಯುವ ಸಮಯ, ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುವ ಸಮಯ, ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಸಮಯ,
8 a time to love, and a time to hate, a time for war, and a time for peace.
೮ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವ ಸಮಯ, ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವ ಸಮಯ, ಯುದ್ಧದ ಸಮಯ, ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಸಮಯ.
9 What profit has he who works in that in which he labors?
೯ದುಡಿಯುವವನಿಗೆ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಯಾಸದಿಂದ ಲಾಭವೇನು?
10 I have seen the travail which God has given to the sons of men to be employed therewith.
೧೦ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವೆಂದು ದೇವರು ನೇಮಿಸಿರುವ ಪ್ರಯಾಸವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also he has set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.
೧೧ಒಂದೊಂದು ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಂದವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಂತಕಾಲದ ಯೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಆದರೂ ದೇವರು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾರದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
12 I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to do good as long as they live.
೧೨ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವಮಾನದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸವಾಗಿ ಸುಖವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಇನ್ನೇನೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮೇಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಾನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor. It is the gift of God.
೧೩ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ನಾನಾ ಪ್ರಯಾಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸುಖವನ್ನನುಭವಿಸುವುದು ದೇವರ ಅನುಗ್ರಹವೇ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ.
14 I know that, whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it. And God has done it that men should fear before him.
೧೪ದೇವರ ಕಾರ್ಯವೆಲ್ಲವು ನಿತ್ಯವೆಂದು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ಸೇರಿಸಲಾರೆವು. ಅದರಿಂದ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆಯಲಾರೆವು. ದೇವರ ಈ ನಿಯಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ತನ್ನ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿ ಉಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿರಬೇಕೆಂಬುದೇ ಕಾರಣ.
15 That which is, has been long ago, and that which is to be, has long ago been. And God seeks again that which has passed away.
೧೫ಈಗಿನದು ಹಿಂದೆ ಇತ್ತು; ಮುಂದಿನದು ಈಗಲೂ ಇದೆ. ಗತಿಸಿ ಹೋದದ್ದನ್ನು ದೇವರು ತಿರುಗಿ ಬರಮಾಡುವನು.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there, and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.
೧೬ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಾನು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅಧರ್ಮವಿರುವುದೆಂದು ನೋಡಿದೆನು.
17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous man and the wicked man, for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
೧೭ಆಗ ನಾನು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ, “ದೇವರು ನೀತಿವಂತನಿಗೂ, ಅನೀತಿವಂತನಿಗೂ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುವನು. ಆತನ ನ್ಯಾಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಿಗೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೆಲಸಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಿಗೂ ತಕ್ಕ ಸಮಯ ಉಂಟು” ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡೆನು.
18 I said in my heart, It is because of the sons of men, that God may prove them, and that they may see that they themselves are beasts.
೧೮ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಯೋಚಿಸಿದೆನು, “ದೇವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ಅವರು ಪಶುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನರು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.”
19 For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts, even one thing befalls them; as the one dies, so dies the other. Yea, they all have one breath, and man has no preeminence above the beasts; for all is vanity.
೧೯ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಗತಿಯೂ ಪಶುವಿನ ಗತಿಯೂ ಒಂದೇ. ಪಶುವಿಗೆ ಸಾವು ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೂ ಬರುವುದು. ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಒಂದೇ. ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಪಶುವಿಗಿಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲವು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ.
20 All go to one place. All are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
೨೦ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವವು. ಎಲ್ಲವು ಮಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದಾದವು. ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಮಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಪುನಃ ಸೇರುವವು.
21 Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the beast, whether it goes downward to the earth?
೨೧ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಏರುತ್ತದೋ, ಪಶುವಿನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಕೆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದು ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೋ ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು?
22 Therefore I saw that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works, for that is his portion. For who shall bring him back to see what shall be after him?
೨೨ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಾನು ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಮೇಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇದೇ ಅವನ ಪಾಲು ಎಂದು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಜೀವಮಾನದ ನಂತರ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಪುನಃ ಬರಮಾಡುವರು?
