Ecclesiastes 11
1 Cast thy bread upon the waters, for thou shall find it after many days.
তুমি জলের উপরে তোমার শস্য ছড়িয়ে দাও; অনেক দিন পরে তুমি হয়তো তার ফল পাবে।
2 Give a portion to seven, yea, even to eight, for thou know not what evil shall be upon the earth.
সাতটি উদ্যোগে বিনিয়োগ করো, হ্যাঁ আটটিতে; কারণ তুমি জানো না পৃথিবীতে কী বিপদ আসবে।
3 If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth, and if a tree falls toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there shall it be.
মেঘ যদি জলে পূর্ণ থাকে, তারা পৃথিবীতে বৃষ্টি ঢালে। গাছ দক্ষিণে কী উত্তরে পড়ুক, যেখানে পড়বে, সেখানেই পড়ে থাকবে।
4 He who observes the wind shall not sow, and he who regards the clouds shall not reap.
যে বাতাসের দিকে তাকায় তার বীজ বোনা হয় না; যে মেঘ দেখে তার শস্য কাটা হয় না।
5 As thou know not what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, even so thou know not the work of God who does all.
তুমি যেমন বাতাসের পথ জানো না, কিংবা মায়ের গর্ভে কেমন করে শরীর গঠন হয়, তেমনি তুমি ঈশ্বরের কাজও বুঝতে পারবে না, যিনি সবকিছুর সৃষ্টিকর্তা।
6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thy hand, for thou know not which shall prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.
তোমার বীজ সকালে বোনো, আর বিকালে তোমার হাতকে অলস হতে দিয়ো না, কারণ তুমি জানো না কোনটি কৃতকার্য হবে, এটি না ওটি, কিংবা দুটোই সমানভাবে ভালো হবে।
7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun.
আলো মিষ্ট, আর সূর্য দেখলে চোখ সন্তুষ্ট হয়।
8 Yea, if a man lives many years, let him rejoice in them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.
কোনো একজন অনেক দিন বাঁচতে পারে, সে যেন সেই দিনগুলিতে আনন্দ ভোগ করে। কিন্তু অন্ধকারের দিনগুলির কথা যেন সে মনে রাখে, কারণ সেগুলি হবে অনেক। যা কিছু ঘটে তা সবই অসার।
9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thine eyes. But know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
হে যুবক, তোমার যৌবনকালে তুমি সুখী হও, আর তোমার যৌবনে তোমার হৃদয় তোমাকে আনন্দ দিক। তোমার হৃদয়ের ইচ্ছামতো পথে চলো এবং তোমার চোখ যা কিছু দেখে, তুমি কিন্তু জেনে রাখো এসব বিষয়ের জন্য ঈশ্বর তোমার বিচার করবেন।
10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.
সেইজন্য, তোমার হৃদয় থেকে উদ্বেগ দূর করো আর তোমার শরীর থেকে দুঃখ সরিয়ে ফেলো, কারণ যৌবন ও তেজ অসার।
