Deuteronomy 8
1 All the commandment which I command thee this day ye shall observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers.
Wszystkich przykazań, które ci dziś nakazuję, będziecie przestrzegać i wypełniać [je], abyście żyli, rozmnażali się, weszli i posiedli ziemię, którą PAN przysiągł waszym ojcom.
2 And thou shall remember all the way which Jehovah thy God has led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou would keep his commandments, or not.
Pamiętaj całą drogę, którą prowadził cię PAN, twój Bóg, przez te czterdzieści lat po pustyni, by cię ukorzyć i doświadczać, aby poznać, co jest w twoim sercu, czy będziesz przestrzegał jego przykazań, czy nie.
3 And he humbled thee, and allowed thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knew not, neither did thy fathers know, that he might make thee know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of Jehovah.
Upokorzył cię, dawał ci odczuć głód i karmił cię manną, której nie znałeś ani ty, ani twoi ojcowie, aby cię nauczyć, że nie samym chlebem człowiek żyje, ale że człowiek żyje każdym słowem, które wychodzi z ust PANA.
4 Thy raiment did not grow old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
Twoja odzież nie zniszczyła się na tobie i twoja noga nie opuchła [przez] te czterdzieści lat.
5 And thou shall consider in thy heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so Jehovah thy God chastens thee.
Rozważ więc w swym sercu, że jak człowiek karze swego syna, [tak] PAN, twój Bóg, karze ciebie.
6 And thou shall keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
Dlatego przestrzegaj przykazań PANA, swego Boga, abyś chodził jego drogami i bał się go.
7 For Jehovah thy God brings thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;
PAN, twój Bóg, prowadzi cię bowiem do ziemi dobrej, [do] ziemi potoków wód, źródeł i głębin, wytryskających w dolinach i górach;
8 a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey,
[Do] ziemi pszenicy i jęczmienia, winorośli, figowców i drzew granatu; [do] ziemi oliwy i miodu;
9 a land in which thou shall eat bread without scarceness. Thou shall not lack anything in it, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou may dig copper.
[Do] ziemi, w której będziesz jeść chleb, nie odczuwając niedostatku; w której niczego ci nie zabraknie; do ziemi, której kamienie są żelazem, a z jej gór będziesz wydobywać miedź.
10 And thou shall eat and be full, and thou shall bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he has given thee.
Gdy będziesz jadł do syta, będziesz błogosławił PANA, swego Boga, za dobrą ziemię, którą ci dał.
11 Beware lest thou forget Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
Strzeż się, byś nie zapomniał PANA, swego Boga, i nie zaniedbał jego przykazań, jego praw i jego nakazów, które ci dziś nakazuję;
12 Lest, when thou have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and dwelt in it,
Aby – gdy najesz się do syta, pobudujesz piękne domy i zamieszkasz w nich;
13 and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou have is multiplied,
I kiedy twoje bydło i owce rozmnożą się, przybędzie ci srebra i złota oraz wszystko, co będziesz miał, powiększy się;
14 then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage,
Twoje serce nie uniosło się i abyś nie zapomniał PANA, swego Boga, który cię wyprowadził z ziemi Egiptu, z domu niewoli;
15 who led thee through the great and terrible wilderness-fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water-who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint,
Który cię przeprowadził przez tę wielką i straszną pustynię, [gdzie były] węże jadowite i skorpiony, [przez] suchą [ziemię], bez wody, i wydobył ci wodę z krzemiennej skały;
16 who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers did not know, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end.
Który cię karmił na pustyni manną, której nie znali twoi ojcowie, aby cię ukorzyć i doświadczać, by w przyszłości wyświadczyć ci dobro;
17 And lest thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.
Abyś nie mówił w swym sercu: Moja moc i siła mojej ręki zdobyły mi to bogactwo;
18 But thou shall remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he who gives thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to thy fathers, as at this day.
Ale pamiętaj PANA, swego Boga, gdyż to on daje ci siłę do zdobywania bogactwa, aby potwierdzić swoje przymierze, które poprzysiągł twoim ojcom, jak się to dziś okazuje.
19 And it shall be, if thou shall forget Jehovah thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Ale jeśli całkiem zapomnisz PANA, swego Boga, i pójdziesz za innymi bogami, będziesz im służył i oddawał pokłon, to oświadczam wam dziś, że na pewno zginiecie.
20 As the nations that Jehovah makes to perish before you, so shall ye perish, because ye would not hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God.
Jak narody, które PAN niszczy przed wami, tak zginiecie, ponieważ nie słuchaliście głosu PANA, waszego Boga.
