Deuteronomy 21
1 If a man is found slain in the land which Jehovah thy God gives thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it not be known who has smitten him,
परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई अधिकार गर्न दिन लाग्नुभएको देशको कुनै मैदानमा कोही मारिएको पाइयो र यसको हत्याराको निधो भएन भने,
2 then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth. And they shall measure to the cities which are round about him who is slain,
तिमीहरूका धर्म-गुरुहरू र न्यायकर्ताहरू गएर लाशदेखि नजिक भएका सहरहरू पत्ता लगाऊन् ।
3 and it shall be, that the city which is nearest to the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer of the herd, which has not been worked with, and which has not drawn in the yoke,
त्यसपछि लाशको निकटतम सहरका धर्म-गुरुहरूले गाईवस्तुबाट काममा नलगाएको र जुवा नहालेको एउटा कोरली लिऊन् ।
4 and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer's neck there in the valley.
अनि तिनीहरूले त्यस कोरलीलाई नजोतिएको र बिउ नछरिएको खोला भएको उपत्यकामा लैजाऊन्, र त्यहाँ तिनीहरूले त्यसको घाँटी भाँचिदिऊन् ।
5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near, for Jehovah thy God has chosen them to minister to him, and to bless in the name of Jehovah, and according to their word shall every controversy and every stroke be.
पुजारीहरू अर्थात् लेवीका सन्तानहरू अगाडि आऊन् किनकि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई उहाँको सेवा गर्न र परमप्रभुको नाउँमा आशिष् दिन अनि हरेक वादविवाद मिलाइदिन छान्नुभएको छ ।
6 And all the elders of that city, who are nearest to the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley,
मारिएको मानिसको निकटतम सहरका सबै धर्म-गुरुले उपत्यकामा घाँटी निमोठिएको कोरलीमाथि आ-आफ्ना हात धोऊन् ।
7 and they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
अनि तिनीहरूले त्यस मामललाई जवाफ दिई यसो भनून्, 'हाम्रा हातले यो रगत बगाएका होइनन्, न त हाम्रा आँखाले यसलाई देखेका छन् ।'
8 Forgive, O Jehovah, thy people Israel whom thou have redeemed, and allow no innocent blood to remain in the midst of thy people Israel. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
हे परमप्रभु इस्राएललाई क्षमा दिनुहोस् जसलाई तपाईंले छुटकारा दिनुभएको छ, र तपाईंको जाति इस्राएलको बिचमा यो निर्दोषको हत्याको दोष नलगाउनुहोस् ।' तब हत्याको दोषलाई क्षमा हुने छ ।
9 So shall thou put away the innocent blood from the midst of thee when thou shall do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah.
यसरी तिमीहरूले परमप्रभुको दृष्टिमा जे ठिक छ त्यही गरेकाले तिमीहरूले तिमीहरूका बिचबाट निर्दोषको हत्याको दोषलाई हटाउने छौ ।
10 When thou go forth to battle against thine enemies, and Jehovah thy God delivers them into thy hands, and thou carry them away captive,
जब तिमीहरू आफ्ना शत्रुहरूको विरुद्धमा युद्ध गर्न जान्छौ र परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई विजय दिई तिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूको वशमा ल्याउनुहुन्छ अनि जब तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई बन्दी बनाई ल्याउँछौ,
11 and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and thou have a desire for her, and would take her to thee to wife,
तब तिमीहरूले बन्दीहरूका बिचमा सुन्दरी स्त्री देख्यौ र त्यसलाई आफ्नी पत्नी बनाउने इच्छा गर्यौ भने
12 then thou shall bring her home to thy house. And she shall shave her head, and pare her nails,
त्यसलाई आफ्नो घरमा लैजानू । त्यसले आफ्नो कपाल खौरन्छे र नङ् काट्छे ।
13 and she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thy house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month. And after that thou shall go in to her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
त्यसपछि त्यसले निर्वासनमा छँदा आफूले लगाएको लुगा फुकाल्छे र त्यो तिम्रो घरमा बसी आफ्ना बुबाआमाको लागि एक वर्षसम्म शोक गर्छे । त्यसपछि तिमी त्योसित सुत्न सक्छौ र त्यसको पति हुन सक्छौ र त्यो तिम्री पत्नी हुन्छे ।
14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shall let her go where she will, but thou shall not sell her at all for money. Thou shall not deal with her harshly, because thou have humbled her.
तर तिमीले त्यसमा रुचि देखाएनौ भने त्यसलाई इच्छा लागेको ठाउँमा जान दिनू । तथापि तिमीले त्यसलाई पैसामा नबेच्नू, त्यसलाई कमारीलाई जस्तै व्यवहार नगर्नू किनकि तिमीले त्यसको सतीत्व नष्ट गरेका छौ ।
15 If a man has two wives, the one beloved, and the other regarded inferior, and they have borne him sons, both the beloved and the one regarded inferior, and if the firstborn son be hers who was regarded inferior,
कुनै मानिसका दुई पत्नी छन् र त्यसले एउटालाई माया गर्छ र अर्कीलाई घृणा गर्छ अनि दुवै जनाले सन्तान जन्माएका छन् भने अनि घृणा गरिनेले चाहिँ जेठो छोरो जन्माएको छ भने
16 then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved the firstborn before the son of the one regarded inferior, who is the firstborn.
अंशबन्डा गर्दा माया गर्नेको छोरा भनेर माया नगर्नेको खास जेठो छोरोलाई उछिनेर पिताले कान्छोलाई अधिकार दिन मिल्दैन ।
17 But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the one regarded inferior, by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength. The right of the firstborn is his.
बरु, त्यसले घृणा गरिएकी पत्नीको छोरोलाई नै आफ्ना सबै सम्पत्तिको दोब्बर भाग दिएर जेठो हो भनी मान्यता देओस् । किनकि त्यो छोरो नै त्यसको शक्तिको सुरु हो । जेठोको हक त्यसको नै हो ।
18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and, though they chasten him, will not hearken to them,
कुनै मानिसको हठी र विर्दोही छोरो छ जसले आफ्ना बुबा वा आमाको कुरा मान्दैन वा र तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई सुधार्दा पनि त्यो सुध्रदैन भने
19 then his father and his mother shall lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place.
त्यसका बुबाआमाले त्यसलाई समातेर सहरका धर्म-गुरुहरूकहाँ सहरका ढोकाहरूमा ल्याऊन् ।
20 And they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice. He is a glutton, and a drunkard.
तिनीहरूले धर्म-गुरुहरूलाई यसो भनून्, 'यो हाम्रो छोरो हठी र विर्दोही छ । यसले हाम्रो कुरा मान्दैन । यो लफङ्गो र मतवाला हो ।'
21 And all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones. So thou shall put away the evil from the midst of thee, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
तब सहरका सबै मानिसले त्यसलाई ढुङ्गाले हानेर मारून् । यसरी तिमीहरूले तिमीहरूका बिचबाट दुष्टतालाई हटाउने छौ । सारा इस्राएली यो सुनेर डराउने छन् ।
22 And if a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree,
कुनै मानिसले मृत्यु योग्यको पाप गरेको छ र त्यसलाई मृत्युदण्ड दिँदा त्यसलाई रुखमा झुण्ड्यायौ भने
23 his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shall surely bury him the same day, for he who is hanged is accursed of God, that thou not defile thy land which Jehovah thy God gives thee for an inheritance.
त्यसको लाश रातभरि रुखमा नरहोस् । बरु, त्यसलाई त्यही दिनमा नै गाडिदिनू । किनकि जो झुण्ड्याइन्छ त्यो परमप्रभुबाट श्रापित हुन्छ । परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई सम्पत्तिको रूपमा दिनुहुने देशलाई तिमीहरूले बिटुलो नपार भनेर यो आज्ञा पालन गर ।
