Deuteronomy 13
1 If there arise in the midst of thee a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives thee a sign or a wonder,
ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசியோ, அல்லது வரப்போவதைக்குறித்து கனவின்மூலம் அறிவிப்பவனோ உங்களுக்குள் எழும்பி, ஒரு அற்புத அடையாளத்தையோ அல்லது ஒரு அதிசயத்தையோ உங்களுக்கு முன்னறிவிக்கக்கூடும்.
2 and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou have not known, and let us serve them,
அவன் சொன்ன அந்த அற்புதமும், அடையாளமும் ஒருவேளை நடக்கலாம். அப்பொழுது அவன், “நாம் வேறு தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்றுவோம்; அவற்றை நாம் வழிபடுவோம்” என்று நீங்கள் அறிந்திராத தெய்வங்களைப் பற்றிச் சொல்லலாம்.
3 thou shall not hearken to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams, for Jehovah your God proves you, to know whether ye love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
அவ்வாறு நடந்தால் நீங்கள் அந்த தீர்க்கதரிசியின் வார்த்தைகளையோ, கனவு காண்பவனின் வார்த்தைகளையோ கேட்கக்கூடாது. உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா, நீங்கள் தம்மில் முழு இருதயத்தோடும், முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் அன்பு கூருகிறீர்களோ என்று அறியும்படி உங்களைப் சோதிக்கிறார்.
4 Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cling to him.
ஆகையால் நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவையே பின்பற்றவேண்டும், அவரிடத்திலேயே பயபக்தியாயிருக்கவேண்டும். அவருடைய கட்டளைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு அவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிய வேண்டும். அவருக்குப் பணிசெய்து அவரை உறுதியாய்ப் பற்றிக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, to draw thee aside out of the way which Jehovah thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shall thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.
அந்த தீர்க்கதரிசியையோ அல்லது கனவு காண்பவனையோ கொலைசெய்யாமல் விடவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில், அடிமைத்தன நாடான எகிப்திலிருந்து உங்களை மீட்டு வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த, உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாக அவன் கலகத்தை மூட்டும்படி பிரசங்கித்தான். உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா நீங்கள் பின்பற்றும்படி கட்டளையிட்ட வழியிலிருந்து, உங்களை விலகச்செய்ய அவன் முயற்சித்தான். அந்த தீமையை நீங்கள் உங்கள் மத்தியிலிருந்து அகற்றிவிடவேண்டும்.
6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, who is as thine own soul, entices thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou have not known, thou, nor thy fathers,
உங்கள் சொந்தச் சகோதரன், உங்கள் மகன், மகள், உங்கள் அன்புக்குரிய மனைவி, உங்கள் நெருங்கிய நண்பன் ஆகியோர், “நாம் போய், வேறு தெய்வத்தை வணங்குவோம் வாருங்கள்” என்று நீங்களோ உங்கள் தந்தையோ அறியாத மற்ற தெய்வங்களைக் குறித்துச் சொல்லி இரகசியமாய் வசீகரிக்கலாம்.
7 of the gods of the peoples that are round about you, near to thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth,
உங்களைச் சுற்றிலும், உங்களுக்குச் சமீபத்திலும், தூரத்திலும் நாட்டின் ஒரு முனையிலிருந்து மறுமுனைவரைக்கும் எவ்விடத்திலாகிலும் இருப்பவர்களின் தெய்வங்களை வணங்கவும் சொல்லலாம்.
8 thou shall not consent to him, nor hearken to him. Neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shall thou spare, neither shall thou conceal him,
அப்பொழுது அவனுக்கு விட்டுக்கொடுக்கவோ, செவிகொடுக்கவோவேண்டாம். அவனுக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டவும்வேண்டாம். அவனை விடுவிக்கவோ, பாதுகாக்கவோ வேண்டாம்.
9 but thou shall surely kill him. Thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அவனைக் கொல்லவேண்டும். அவனைக் கொல்வதற்கு உன் கையே முந்தவேண்டும். அதற்குப்பின் எல்லா மக்களுடைய கைகளும் சேர்ந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும்.
10 And thou shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw thee away from Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
அவன் சாகும்படி அவன்மேல் கற்களை எறியுங்கள். ஏனெனில் அடிமைத்தன நாடான எகிப்திலிருந்து உங்களை மீட்டு வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த, உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவிடமிருந்து உங்களை விலகச்செய்ய அவன் முயற்சித்தான்.
11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall no more do any such wickedness as this is in the midst of thee.
அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேலர் யாவரும் இதைக் கேட்டுப் பயப்படுவார்கள். உங்கள் மத்தியில், இப்படியான ஒரு தீயசெயலை ஒருவனும் இனிமேலும் செய்யமாட்டான்.
12 If thou shall hear tell concerning one of thy cities, which Jehovah thy God gives thee to dwell there, saying,
நீங்கள் வாழும்படி உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் பட்டணங்களில் ஒன்றைப்பற்றி, இவ்வாறு சொல்லப்பட்டதாகக் கேள்விப்படலாம்.
13 Certain base fellows have gone out from the midst of thee, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known,
அதாவது, உங்கள் மத்தியில் கொடிய மனிதர் எழும்பி, “நாம் போய் வேறு தெய்வங்களை வழிபடுவோம்” என்று நீங்கள் அறிந்திராத வேறு தெய்வங்களைப் பற்றிச்சொல்லி, தங்கள் பட்டணத்து மக்களை வழிதவறப்பண்ணலாம்.
14 then thou shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently. And, behold, if it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in the midst of thee,
அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் போய் தீர விசாரித்து, ஆராய்ந்து, சோதனைசெய்யுங்கள். அது உண்மையாயிருந்து, உங்கள் மத்தியில் அப்படிப்பட்ட அருவருப்பான செயல் நடந்தது என நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டால்,
15 thou shall surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is in it, and the cattle in it, with the edge of the sword.
நிச்சயமாய் நீங்கள் அப்பட்டணத்தில் வாழும் யாவரையும் வாளினால் வெட்டிக் கொல்லவேண்டும். அப்பட்டணத்தையும் முற்றிலும் அழிக்கவேண்டும். அங்குள்ள மக்களையும், வளர்ப்பு மிருகங்களையும் அழிக்கவேண்டும்.
16 And thou shall gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street of it, and shall burn the city with fire, and all the spoil of it, every whit, to Jehovah thy God, and it shall be a heap forever. It shall not be built again.
பட்டணத்தின் கொள்ளைப்பொருட்களை ஒன்றுசேர்த்து, பட்டணத்தின் மத்தியிலுள்ள பொதுச் சதுக்கத்தில்போட்டு, உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்குத் தகன காணிக்கையாக அப்பட்டணத்தையும், கொள்ளையிட்ட யாவையும் நெருப்பினால் முற்றிலும் எரிக்கவேண்டும். அப்பட்டணம் ஒருபோதும் திரும்பவும் கட்டப்படாமல் என்றென்றும் பாழடைந்து கிடக்கவேண்டும்.
17 And nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to thy hand, that Jehovah may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he has sworn to thy fathers,
அழிவுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்ட கொள்ளைப்பொருள்கள் ஒன்றுமே உங்கள் கைகளில் காணப்படக்கூடாது. அப்பொழுது யெகோவா தம்முடைய கடுங்கோபத்தை விட்டு விலகி, உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு வாக்களித்தபடி உங்கள்மேல் இரக்கங்கொண்டு, கருணைகாட்டி, உங்கள் எண்ணிக்கையைப் பெருகச்செய்வார்.
18 when thou shall hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah thy God.
இன்று நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிற அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் கைக்கொண்டு, உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் சரியானதைச் செய்து, உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறபடியினாலேயே அவ்வாறு செய்வார்.
