Daniel 7
1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed. Then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters.
| בשנת חדה לבלאשצר מלך בבל דניאל חלם חזה וחזוי ראשה על משכבה באדין חלמא כתב ראש מלין אמר |
2 Daniel spoke and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of heaven broke forth upon the great sea.
| ענה דניאל ואמר חזה הוית בחזוי עם ליליא וארו ארבע רוחי שמיא מגיחן לימא רבא |
3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, different one from another.
| וארבע חיון רברבן סלקן מן ימא שנין דא מן דא |
4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings. I beheld till the wings of it were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon two feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
| קדמיתא כאריה וגפין די נשר לה חזה הוית עד די מריטו גפיה (גפה) ונטילת מן ארעא ועל רגלין כאנש הקימת ולבב אנש יהיב לה |
5 And, behold, another beast, a second, like a bear, and it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: Arise, devour much flesh.
| וארו חיוה אחרי תנינה דמיה לדב ולשטר חד הקמת ותלת עלעין בפמה בין שניה (שנה) וכן אמרין לה קומי אכלי בשר שגיא |
6 After this I beheld, and, lo, another, like a leopard, which had upon its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.
| באתר דנה חזה הוית וארו אחרי כנמר ולה גפין ארבע די עוף על גביה (גבה) וארבעה ראשין לחיותא ושלטן יהיב לה |
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and, behold, a fourth beast, fearful and powerful, and exceedingly strong. And it had great iron teeth. It devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet. And it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.
| באתר דנה חזה הוית בחזוי ליליא וארו חיוה רביעיה (רביעאה) דחילה ואימתני ותקיפא יתירה ושנין די פרזל לה רברבן אכלה ומדקה ושארא ברגליה (ברגלה) רפסה והיא משניה מן כל חיותא די קדמיה (קדמה) וקרנין עשר לה |
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.
| משתכל הוית בקרניא ואלו קרן אחרי זעירה סלקת ביניהון (ביניהן) ותלת מן קרניא קדמיתא אתעקרו (אתעקרה) מן קדמיה (קדמה) ואלו עינין כעיני אנשא בקרנא דא ופם ממלל רברבן |
9 I beheld till thrones were placed, and one who was ancient of days sat. His raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool. His throne was fiery flames, and the wheels of it burning fire.
| חזה הוית עד די כרסון רמיו ועתיק יומין יתב לבושה כתלג חור ושער ראשה כעמר נקא כרסיה שבבין די נור גלגלוהי נור דלק |
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him. Thousands of thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The judgment was set, and the books were opened.
| נהר די נור נגד ונפק מן קדמוהי אלף אלפים (אלפין) ישמשונה ורבו רבון (רבבן) קדמוהי יקומון דינא יתב וספרין פתיחו |
11 I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke. I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.
| חזה הוית--באדין מן קל מליא רברבתא די קרנא ממללה חזה הוית עד די קטילת חיותא והובד גשמה ויהיבת ליקדת אשא |
12 And as for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away. Yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
| ושאר חיותא העדיו שלטנהון וארכה בחיין יהיבת להון עד זמן ועדן |
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven someone like a son of man. And he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
| חזה הוית בחזוי ליליא וארו עם ענני שמיא כבר אנש אתה הוא ועד עתיק יומיא מטה וקדמוהי הקרבוהי |
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
| ולה יהב שלטן ויקר ומלכו וכל עממיא אמיא ולשניא לה יפלחון שלטנה שלטן עלם די לא יעדה ומלכותה די לא תתחבל |
15 As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
| אתכרית רוחי אנה דניאל בגו נדנה וחזוי ראשי יבהלנני |
16 I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
| קרבת על חד מן קאמיא ויציבא אבעא מנה על כל דנה ואמר לי ופשר מליא יהודענני |
17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings who shall arise out of the earth.
| אלין חיותא רברבתא די אנין ארבע--ארבעה מלכין יקומון מן ארעא |
18 But the sanctified of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.
| ויקבלון מלכותא קדישי עליונין ויחסנון מלכותא עד עלמא ועד עלם עלמיא |
19 Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was different from all of them, exceedingly fearful, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass, which devoured, broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet,
| אדין צבית ליצבא על חיותא רביעיתא די הות שניה מן כלהון (כלהן) דחילה יתירה שניה (שנה) די פרזל וטפריה (וטפרה) די נחש אכלה מדקה ושארא ברגליה (ברגלה) רפסה |
20 and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke great things, whose look was greater than its fellows.
| ועל קרניא עשר די בראשה ואחרי די סלקת ונפלו (ונפלה) מן קדמיה (קדמה) תלת וקרנא דכן ועינין לה ופם ממלל רברבן וחזוה רב מן חברתה |
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the sanctified, and prevailed against them
| חזה הוית--וקרנא דכן עבדא קרב עם קדישין ויכלה להן |
22 until the ancient of days came. And judgment was given to the sanctified of the Most High, and the time came that the sanctified possessed the kingdom.
| עד די אתה עתיק יומיא ודינא יהב לקדישי עליונין וזמנא מטה ומלכותא החסנו קדישין |
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be different from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
| כן אמר חיותא רביעיתא מלכו רביעיה (רביעאה) תהוא בארעא די תשנא מן כל מלכותא ותאכל כל ארעא ותדושנה ותדקנה |
24 And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise. And another shall arise after them, and he shall be different from the former. And he shall put down three kings.
| וקרניא עשר--מנה מלכותא עשרה מלכין יקמון ואחרן יקום אחריהן והוא ישנא מן קדמיא ותלתה מלכין יהשפל |
25 And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the sanctified of the Most High. And he shall think to change the times and the law, and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
| ומלין לצד עליא (עלאה) ימלל ולקדישי עליונין יבלא ויסבר להשניה זמנין ודת ויתיהבון בידה עד עדן ועדנין ופלג עדן |
26 But the judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it to the end.
| ודינא יתב ושלטנה יהעדון להשמדה ולהובדה עד סופא |
27 And the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the sanctified of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
| ומלכותא ושלטנא ורבותא די מלכות תחות כל שמיא יהיבת לעם קדישי עליונין מלכותה מלכות עלם וכל שלטניא לה יפלחון וישתמעון |
28 Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me much, and my countenance was changed in me, but I kept the matter in my heart.
| עד כה סופא די מלתא אנה דניאל שגיא רעיוני יבהלנני וזיוי ישתנון עלי ומלתא בלבי נטרת |
