Daniel 2
1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams. And his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him.
E no segundo anno do reinado de Nabucodonozor sonhou Nabucodonosor sonhos; e o seu espirito se perturbou, e passou-se-lhe o seu somno.
2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the enchanters, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.
E o rei mandou chamar os magos, e os astrologos, e os encantadores, e os chaldeos, para que declarassem ao rei os seus sonhos: os quaes vieram e se apresentaram diante do rei.
3 And the king said to them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream.
E o rei lhes disse: Tive um sonho; e para saber o sonho está perturbado o meu espirito.
4 Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in the Syrian language, O king, live forever. Tell thy servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.
E os chaldeos disseram ao rei em syriaco: Ó rei, vive eternamente! dize o sonho a teus servos, e declararemos a interpretação.
5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me. If ye do not make the dream and the interpretation of it known to me, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
Respondeu o rei, e disse aos chaldeos: A coisa me tem escapado; se me não fizerdes saber o sonho e a sua interpretação, sereis despedaçados, e as vossas casas serão feitas um monturo;
6 But if ye show the dream and the interpretation of it, ye shall receive gifts and rewards and great honor from me. Therefore show the dream and the interpretation of it to me.
Mas se vós me declarardes o sonho e a sua interpretação, recebereis de mim dons, e dadivas, e grande honra; portanto declarae-me o sonho e a sua interpretação.
7 They answered the second time and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.
Responderam segunda vez, e disseram: Diga o rei o sonho a seus servos, e declararemos a sua interpretação.
8 The king answered and said, I know of a certainty that ye would gain time, because ye see the thing has gone from me.
Respondeu o rei, e disse: Conheço eu certamente que vós quereis ganhar tempo; porque vêdes que a coisa me tem escapado.
9 But if ye do not make known to me the dream, there is but one law for you, for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me till the time is changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can show me the interpretation of it.
De maneira que, se me não fazeis saber o sonho, uma só sentença será a vossa; pois vós preparastes palavras mentirosas e perversas para as proferir na minha presença, até que se mude o tempo: portanto dizei-me o sonho, para que eu entenda que me podeis declarar a sua interpretação.
10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth who can show the king's matter. Inasmuch as no king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.
Responderam os chaldeos na presença do rei, e disseram: Não ha ninguem sobre a terra que possa declarar a palavra ao rei; pois nenhum rei ha, grande ou dominador, que requeresse coisa similhante d'algum mago, ou astrologo, ou chaldeo.
11 And it is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no other who can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
Porque a coisa que o rei requer é difficil; nem ha outro que a possa declarar diante do rei, senão os deuses, cuja morada não é com a carne.
12 For this reason the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
Por isso o rei muito se irou e enfureceu; e ordenou que matassem a todos os sabios de Babylonia.
13 So the decree went forth, and the wise men were to be slain. And they sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.
E saiu o mandado, e sairam a matar os sabios; e buscaram a Daniel e aos seus companheiros, para que fossem mortos.
14 Then Daniel returned answer with counsel and prudence to Arioch, the captain of the king's guard, who went forth to kill the wise men of Babylon.
Então Daniel fallou avisada e prudentemente a Arioch, capitão da guarda do rei, que tinha saido para matar os sabios de Babylonia.
15 He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so urgent from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
Respondeu, e disse a Arioch, prefeito do rei: Porque se apressa tanto o mandado da parte do rei? Então Arioch fez saber a coisa a Daniel.
16 And Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would appoint him a time, and he would show the king the interpretation.
E Daniel entrou; e pediu ao rei que lhe désse tempo, para declarar a interpretação ao rei.
17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,
Então Daniel foi para a sua casa, e fez saber a coisa a Hananias, Misael e Azarias, seus companheiros:
18 that they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret, that Daniel and his companions should nor perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
Para que pedissem misericordia ao Deus do céu, sobre este segredo, afim de que Daniel e seus companheiros não perecessem, juntamente com o resto dos sabios de Babylonia.
19 Then the secret was shown to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
Então foi revelado o segredo a Daniel n'uma visão de noite: então Daniel louvou o Deus do céu.
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are his.
Fallou Daniel, e disse: Seja bemdito o nome de Deus desde o seculo até ao seculo, porque d'elle é a sabedoria e a força;
21 And he changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings, and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who have understanding.
E elle muda os tempos e as horas; elle remove os reis e estabelece os reis: elle dá sabedoria aos sabios e sciencia aos entendidos.
22 He reveals the deep and secret things. He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
Elle revela o profundo e o escondido: conhece o que está em trevas, e com elle a luz mora.
23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and has now made known to me what we desired of thee, for thou have made known to us the king's matter.
Ó Deus de meus paes, te louvo e celebro eu, que me déste sabedoria e força; e agora me fizeste saber o que te pedimos, porque nos fizeste saber a coisa do rei.
24 Therefore Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said thus to him: Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Bring me in before the king, and I will show to the king the interpretation.
Por isso Daniel entrou a Arioch, ao qual o rei tinha constituido para matar os sabios de Babylonia: entrou, e disse-lhe assim: Não mates os sabios de Babylonia; introduze-me na presença do rei, e declararei ao rei a interpretação.
25 Then Arioch brought Daniel in before the king in haste, and said thus to him: I have found a man of the sons of the captivity of Judah, who will make known the interpretation to the king.
Então Arioch depressa introduziu a Daniel na presença do rei, e disse-lhe assim: Achei um d'entre os filhos dos captivos de Judah, o qual fará saber ao rei a interpretação.
26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are thou able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation of it?
Respondeu o rei, e disse a Daniel (cujo nome era Belteshazzar): Podes tu fazer-me saber o sonho que vi e a sua interpretação?
27 Daniel answered before the king, and said, The secret which the king has demanded, neither wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor soothsayers, can show to the king,
Respondeu Daniel na presença do rei, e disse: O segredo que o rei requer, nem sabios, nem astrologos, nem magos, nem adivinhos o podem declarar ao rei;
28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets. And he has made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these:
Mas ha um Deus nos céus, o qual revela os segredos; elle pois fez saber ao rei Nabucodonozor o que ha de ser no fim dos dias; o teu sonho e as visões da tua cabeça na tua cama são estas:
29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter. And he who reveals secrets has made known to thee what shall come to pass.
Estando tu, ó rei, na tua cama, subiram os teus pensamentos, ácerca do que ha de ser depois d'isto. Aquelle pois que revela os segredos te fez saber o que ha de ser.
30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living man, but to the intent that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that thou may know the thoughts of thy heart.
E a mim, não pela sabedoria que em mim haja, mais do que em todos os viventes, me foi revelado este segredo, mas para que a interpretação se fizesse saber ao rei, e para que entendesse os pensamentos do teu coração.
31 Thou, O king, saw, and, behold, a great image. This image, which was mighty, and whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee, and the appearance of it was fearful.
Tu, ó rei, estavas vendo, e eis aqui uma grande estatua: esta estatua era grande, e o seu esplendor era excellente, e estava em pé diante de ti; e a sua vista era terrivel.
32 As for this image, its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass,
A cabeça d'aquella estatua era de oiro fino; o seu peito e os seus braços de prata; o seu ventre e as suas coxas de cobre;
33 its legs of iron, its feet part of iron, and part of clay.
As pernas de ferro; os seus pés em parte de ferro e em parte de barro.
34 Thou looked until a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon its feet that were of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces.
Estavas vendo, até que uma pedra foi cortada, sem mão, a qual feriu a estatua nos pés de ferro e de barro, e os esmiuçou.
35 Then the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, was broken in pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors. And the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them. And the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Então foi juntamente esmiuçado o ferro, o barro, o cobre, a prata e o oiro, e se fizeram como pragana das eiras do estio, e o vento os levou, e não se achou logar algum para elles; mas a pedra, que feriu a estatua, se fez um grande monte, e encheu toda a terra.
36 This is the dream, and we will tell the interpretation of it before the king.
Este é o sonho; tambem a interpretação d'elle diremos na presença do rei
37 Thou, O king, are a king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, and the strength, and the glory.
Tu, ó rei, és rei de reis: pois o Deus do céu te tem dado o reino, a potencia, e a força, e a magestade.
38 And wherever the sons of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens, he has given into thy hand, and has made thee to rule over them all. Thou are the head of gold.
E onde quer que habitem filhos de homens, bestas do campo, e aves do céu, t'os entregou na tua mão, e fez que dominasses sobre todos elles; tu és a cabeça de oiro.
39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
E depois de ti se levantará outro reino, inferior ao teu; e outro terceiro reino, de metal, o qual dominará sobre toda a terra.
40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and subdues all things. And as iron that crushes all these, it shall break in pieces and crush.
E o quarto reino será forte como ferro; da maneira que o ferro esmiuça e enfraquece tudo, como o ferro, que quebranta todas estas coisas, assim esmiuçará e quebrantará.
41 And whereas thou saw the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom. But there shall be of the strength of the iron in it, inasmuch as thou saw the iron mixed with miry clay.
E, quanto ao que viste dos pés e dos dedos, em parte de barro de oleiro, e em parte de ferro, isso será um reino dividido; comtudo haverá n'elle alguma coisa da firmeza do ferro, porquanto viste o ferro misturado com barro de lodo.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
E os dedos dos pés, em parte de ferro e em parte de barro, querem dizer: por uma parte o reino será forte, e por outra será fragil.
43 And whereas thou saw the iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men, but they shall not cling one to another, even as iron does not mix with clay.
Quanto ao que viste do ferro misturado com barro de lodo, misturar-se-hão com semente humana, mas não se apegarão um ao outro, assim como o ferro se não mistura com o barro.
44 And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty of it be left to another people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
Mas, nos dias d'estes reis, o Deus do céu levantará um reino que não será jámais destruido; e este reino não será deixado a outro povo: esmiuçará e consumirá todos estes reinos, mas elle mesmo estará estabelecido para sempre.
45 Inasmuch as thou saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter. And the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Da maneira que viste que do monte foi cortada uma pedra, sem mãos, e ella esmiuçou o ferro, o cobre, o barro, a prata e o oiro, o Deus grande fez saber ao rei o que ha de ser depois d'isto; e certo é o sonho, e fiel a sua interpretação.
46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshiped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odors to him.
Então o rei Nabucodonozor caiu sobre o seu rosto, e adorou a Daniel, e ordenou que lhe sacrificassem offerta de manjares e perfumes suaves.
47 The king answered to Daniel, and said, Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since thou have been able to reveal this secret.
Respondeu o rei a Daniel, e disse: Certo é que o vosso Deus é Deus de deuses, e o Senhor dos reis, e o revelador dos segredos, pois podeste revelar este segredo.
48 Then the king made Daniel great, and gave him many great gifts, and made him to rule over the whole province of Babylon, and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.
Então o rei engrandeceu a Daniel, e lhe deu muitos e grandes dons, e o poz por governador de toda a provincia de Babylonia, como tambem por principe dos prefeitos sobre todos os sabios de Babylonia.
49 And Daniel requested of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon, but Daniel was in the gate of the king.
E pediu Daniel ao rei, e constituiu elle sobre os negocios da provincia de Babylonia a Sadrach, Mesach e Abed-nego; porém Daniel estava á porta do rei.
