Amos 2
1 Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: À cause des trois et même des quatre crimes de Moab, je ne le convertirai pas, parce qu’ils ont brûlé les os du roi d’Edom, jusqu’à les réduire en cendres.
2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
Et j’enverrai un feu dans Moab, et il dévorera les édifices de Carioth; et Moab mourra au milieu du bruit des armes et au son de la trompette;
3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst of it, and will kill all the rulers of it with him, says Jehovah.
Et j’exterminerai le juge du milieu de Moab, et tous ses princes, je les ferai périr avec lui, dit le Seigneur.
4 Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, according to which their fathers walked.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: À cause des trois et même des quatre crimes de Juda, je ne le convertirai pas, parce qu’ils ont rejeté la loi du Seigneur, et n’ont pas gardé ses commandements; car leurs idoles les ont trompés, ces idoles après lesquelles avaient couru leurs pères.
5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
Et j’en verrai un feu dans Juda, et il dévorera les édifices de Jérusalem.
6 Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have sold a righteous man for silver, and a needy man for a pair of shoes-
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: À cause des trois et même des quatre crimes d’Israël, je ne le convertirai pas; parce qu’il a vendu le juste pour de l’argent, et le pauvre pour une chaussure.
7 those who pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go to the same maiden, to profane my holy name.
Ils brisent sur la poussière les têtes des pauvres et détournent la voie des humbles; le père et le fils sont allés vers une jeune fille, afin de violer mon nom saint.
8 And they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge. And in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.
Et c’est sur des vêtements reçus en gage qu’ils se sont couchés près de tout autel; et ils buvaient le vin des condamnés dans le temple de leur Dieu.
9 Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks, yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
Cependant c’est moi qui ai exterminé à leur face l’Amorrhéen, dont la hauteur était la hauteur des cèdres, et il était fort lui-même comme un chêne; et j’ai détruit son fruit en haut, et ses racines en bas.
10 Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
C’est moi qui vous ai fait monter de la terre d’Egypte, et vous ai conduits dans le désert pendant quarante années, afin que vous possédiez la terre de l’Amorrhéen.
11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye sons of Israel? says Jehovah.
Et d’entre vos fils j’ai suscité des prophètes, et d’entre vos jeunes hommes des Nazaréens. Est-ce qu’il n’en est pas ainsi, ô fils d’Israël? dit le Seigneur.
12 But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Do not Prophesy.
Et vous offrirez du vin à boire aux Nazaréens, et vous commanderez aux prophètes, disant: Ne prophétisez point.
13 Behold, I will press you in your place, as a cart presses that is full of sheaves.
Voilà que moi, je crierai sous vous, comme crie le chariot chargé de foin.
14 And flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, nor shall the mighty deliver himself.
Et la fuite manquera au plus rapide, et le brave ne jouira pas de sa valeur, et le fort ne sauvera pas son âme;
15 Neither shall he stand who handles the bow. And he who is swift of foot shall not deliver himself, nor shall he who rides the horse deliver himself.
Et celui qui manie l’arc ne résistera pas, et le plus vite de ses pieds ne se sauvera pas, et le cavalier ne sauvera pas son âme.
16 And he who is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, says Jehovah.
Et le plus hardi entre les braves s’enfuira nu en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur.
