2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a bondman and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received an equally precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
Simon Pietro, servitore e apostolo di Gesù Cristo, a quelli che hanno ottenuto una fede preziosa quanto la nostra nella giustizia del nostro Dio e Salvatore Gesù Cristo:
2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
grazia e pace vi siano moltiplicate nella conoscenza di Dio e di Gesù nostro Signore.
3 as all things of his divine power to us, things toward life and piety, which were granted through the knowledge of him who called us through glory and virtue.
Poiché la sua potenza divina ci ha donate tutte le cose che appartengono alla vita e alla pietà mediante la conoscenza di Colui che ci ha chiamati mercé la propria gloria e virtù,
4 Because of which, the precious and greatest promises have been given to us, so that through these ye might become companions of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption in the world in lust.
per le quali Egli ci ha largito le sue preziose e grandissime promesse onde per loro mezzo voi foste fatti partecipi della natura divina dopo esser fuggiti dalla corruzione che è nel mondo per via della concupiscenza,
5 Now this same thing also, having applied all eagerness, furnish in your faith, virtue, and in virtue, knowledge,
voi, per questa stessa ragione, mettendo in ciò dal canto vostro ogni premura, aggiungete alla fede vostra la virtù; alla virtù la conoscenza;
6 and in knowledge, self-control, and in self-control, perseverance, and in perseverance, piety,
alla conoscenza la continenza; alla continenza la pazienza; alla pazienza la pietà; alla pietà l’amor fraterno;
7 and in piety, brotherly affection, and in brotherly affection, love.
e all’amor fraterno la carità.
8 For these things existing in you and abounding, it leads to not being idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Perché se queste cose si trovano e abbondano in voi, non vi renderanno né oziosi né sterili nella conoscenza del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
9 For he in whom these things are not present is blind, being near-sighted, having deliberately forgotten the purification of his former sins.
Poiché colui nel quale queste cose non si trovano, è cieco, ha la vista corta avendo dimenticato il purgamento dei suoi vecchi peccati.
10 Therefore, brothers, instead be diligent to make your calling and selection sure, for doing these things, ye would, no, not ever stumble.
Perciò, fratelli, vie più studiatevi di render sicura la vostra vocazione ad elezione; perché, facendo queste cose, non inciamperete giammai,
11 For so the entrance will be furnished to you abundantly into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
poiché così vi sarà largamente provveduta l’entrata nel regno eterno del nostro Signore e Salvatore Gesù Cristo. (aiōnios g166)
12 Therefore I will not neglect to always remind you about these things, although having known them, and having been established in the present truth.
Perciò avrò cura di ricordarvi del continuo queste cose, benché le conosciate, e siate stabiliti nella verità che vi è stata recata.
13 But I think it right, inasmuch as I am in this tent, to arouse you in memory.
E stimo cosa giusta finché io sono in questa tenda, di risvegliarvi ricordandovele,
14 Knowing that the putting off of my tent is imminent, even as also our Lord Jesus Christ indicated to me.
perché so che presto dovrò lasciare questa mia tenda, come il Signor nostro Gesù Cristo me lo ha dichiarato.
15 And also I will endeavor for you to always have, after my departure, the memory of these things to apply.
Ma mi studierò di far sì che dopo la mia dipartenza abbiate sempre modo di ricordarvi di queste cose.
16 For we revealed to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, not men who followed in cunningly devised myths, but men who became eyewitnesses of the majesty of that man.
Poiché non è coll’andar dietro a favole artificiosamente composte che vi abbiamo fatto conoscere la potenza e la venuta del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo, ma perché siamo stati testimoni oculari della sua maestà.
17 For having received from God the Father honor and glory from a voice of such kind brought to him from the Majestic Glory, This is my Son, the beloved in whom I am well pleased.
Poiché egli ricevette da Dio Padre onore e gloria quando giunse a lui quella voce dalla magnifica gloria: Questo è il mio diletto Figliuolo, nel quale mi sono compiaciuto.
18 And we heard this voice, which was brought out of heaven, being with him on the holy mountain.
E noi stessi udimmo quella voce che veniva dal cielo, quand’eravamo con lui sul monte santo.
19 And we have the prophetic word sure, to which ye do well giving heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the daystar arises in your hearts.
Abbiamo pure la parola profetica, più ferma, alla quale fate bene di prestare attenzione, come una lampada splendente in luogo oscuro, finché spunti il giorno e la stella mattutina sorga ne’ vostri cuori;
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture comes to pass of a personal interpretation.
sapendo prima di tutto questo: che nessuna profezia della Scrittura procede da vedute particolari;
21 For no prophecy was ever brought by a will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being led by the Holy Spirit.
poiché non è dalla volontà dell’uomo che venne mai alcuna profezia, ma degli uomini hanno parlato da parte di Dio, perché sospinti dallo Spirito Santo.
