2 Kings 1
1 And Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

2 And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick. And he sent messengers, and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover of this sickness.
Basi Ahazia alikuwa ameanguka huko Samaria kutoka baraza ya chumba chake cha juu, akaumia. Hivyo akatuma wajumbe, akiwaambia, “Nendeni mkaulize kwa Baal-Zebubu, mungu wa Ekroni, mkaone kama nitapona kutokana na kuumia huku.”
3 But the agent of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Is it because there is no God in Israel that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?
Lakini malaika wa Bwana akamwambia Eliya, Mtishbi, “Panda ukakutane na wajumbe wa mfalme wa Samaria, uwaulize, ‘Je, ni kwa sababu hakuna Mungu katika Israeli ndiyo maana mnakwenda kumuuliza Baal-Zebubu, mungu wa Ekroni?’
4 Now therefore thus says Jehovah, Thou shall not come down from the bed where thou have gone up, but shall surely die. And Elijah departed.
Kwa hiyo hili ndilo asemalo Bwana, ‘Hutaondoka kwenye kitanda unachokilalia. Hakika utakufa!’” Hivyo Eliya akaenda.
5 And the messengers returned to him, and he said to them, Why is it that ye are returned?
Wajumbe waliporudi kwa mfalme, akawauliza, “Kwa nini mmerudi?”
6 And they said to him, There came up a man to meet us, and said to us, Go, turn again to the king that sent you, and say to him, Thus says Jehovah, Is it because there is no God in Israel that thou send to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore thou shall not come down from the bed where thou have gone up, but shall surely die.
Wakamjibu, “Mtu fulani alikuja kukutana nasi, naye akatuambia, ‘Rudini kwa mfalme aliyewatuma na mkamwambie, “Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: Je, ni kwa sababu hakuna Mungu katika Israeli ndiyo maana unawatuma watu kwenda kuuliza kwa Baal-Zebubu, mungu wa Ekroni? Kwa hiyo hutaondoka kwenye kitanda unachokilalia. Hakika utakufa!”’”
7 And he said to them, What manner of man was he who came up to meet you, and told you these words?
Mfalme akawauliza, “Alikuwa mtu wa namna gani ambaye mlikutana naye, akawaambia hili?”
8 And they answered him, He was a hairy man, and girt with a belt of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
Wakamjibu, “Alikuwa mtu aliyekuwa na vazi la manyoya na mkanda wa ngozi kiunoni mwake.” Mfalme akasema, “Huyo alikuwa ni Eliya, Mtishbi.”
9 Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him, and, behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. And he spoke to him, O man of God, the king has said, Come down.
Ndipo mfalme akamtuma mkuu mmoja wa kikosi pamoja na kikosi chake cha askari hamsini kwa nabii Eliya. Yule mkuu wa kikosi akamwendea Eliya, aliyekuwa ameketi juu ya kilima, na kumwambia, “Mtu wa Mungu, mfalme anasema, ‘Shuka chini!’”
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
Eliya akamjibu yule mkuu wa kikosi, “Ikiwa mimi ni mtu wa Mungu, moto na ushuke kutoka mbinguni ukuteketeze wewe na watu wako hamsini!” Ndipo moto ukashuka kutoka mbinguni na kuwateketeza yule mkuu wa kikosi pamoja na watu wake.
11 And again he sent to him another captain of fifty and his fifty. And he answered and said to him, O man of God, thus has the king said, Come down quickly.
Aliposikia hili, mfalme akatuma kwa Eliya mkuu wa kikosi mwingine na askari wake hamsini. Yule mkuu wa kikosi akamwambia Eliya, “Mtu wa Mungu, hili ndilo asemalo mfalme, ‘Shuka chini mara moja!’”
12 And Elijah answered and said to them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
Eliya akajibu, “Ikiwa mimi ni mtu wa Mungu, moto na ushuke kutoka mbinguni ukuteketeze wewe na watu wako hamsini!” Ndipo moto wa Mungu ukashuka kutoka mbinguni, ukamteketeza yeye na watu wake hamsini.
13 And again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said to him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
Hivyo mfalme akatuma mkuu wa kikosi wa tatu na watu wake hamsini. Huyu mkuu wa kikosi wa tatu akapanda na kupiga magoti mbele ya Eliya, akiomba, “Mtu wa Mungu, tafadhali niachie uhai wangu na uhai wa hawa watu hamsini, watumishi wako!
14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties, but now let my life be precious in thy sight.
Tazama, moto umeshuka kutoka mbinguni na kuwateketeza wale wakuu wa vikosi viwili vya kwanza pamoja na watu wao. Lakini sasa niachie uhai wangu!”
15 And the agent of Jehovah said to Elijah, Go down with him; do not be afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him to the king.
Malaika wa Bwana akamwambia Eliya, “Shuka pamoja naye, usimwogope.” Hivyo Eliya akainuka na kushuka pamoja naye kwa mfalme.
16 And he said to him, Thus says Jehovah, Inasmuch as thou have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore thou shall not come down from the bed where thou have gone up, but shall surely die.
Akamwambia mfalme, “Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: Je, ni kwa sababu hakuna Mungu katika Israeli wa kumuuliza habari, ndiyo maana ukatuma wajumbe kuuliza Baal-Zebubu, mungu wa Ekroni? Kwa sababu umefanya hili, kamwe hutaondoka kwenye kitanda unachokilalia. Hakika utakufa!”
17 So he died according to the word of Jehovah which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because he had no son.
Hivyo akafa, sawasawa na lile neno la Bwana ambalo Eliya alikuwa amesema. Kwa kuwa Ahazia hakuwa na mwana, Yoramu akawa mfalme baada yake katika mwaka wa pili wa Yehoramu mwana wa Yehoshafati mfalme wa Yuda.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Kwa matukio mengine ya utawala wa Ahazia na yale aliyoyafanya, je, hayakuandikwa katika kitabu cha kumbukumbu za wafalme wa Israeli?
