2 Kings 6
1 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell before thee is too confined for us.
౧తరువాత ప్రవక్తల సమాజం వారు ఎలీషా దగ్గరికి వచ్చారు. వారు ఎలీషాతో “మేము నీతో ఉంటున్న ఈ స్థలం చాలా ఇరుకుగా ఉంది.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, to the Jordan, and every man take a beam from there, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
౨నీవు దయ చేసి అనుమతిస్తే మేమంతా యొర్దానుకు వెళ్ళి అక్కడ్నించి ఒక్కొక్కరం ఒక్కో చెట్టు కొట్టి తెచ్చుకుంటాం. వాటితో మరో చోట మా కోసం నివాసాలు కట్టుకుంటాం” అన్నారు. దానికి ఎలీషా “అలాగే, వెళ్ళండి” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
3 And one said, Be pleased, I pray thee, to go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
౩వాళ్ళల్లో ఒకడు “నీ సేవకులైన మాతో దయచేసి నువ్వూ రావాలి” అని బతిమాలాడు. ఎలీషా “సరే, నేనూ వస్తాను” అన్నాడు.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.
౪కాబట్టి అతడు వాళ్ళతో వెళ్ళాడు. అందరూ యొర్దానుకి వెళ్ళి చెట్లు నరకడం ప్రారంభించారు.
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe-head fell into the water. And he cried, and said, Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.
౫ఒకడు కొమ్మ కొడుతున్నప్పుడు వాడి గొడ్డలి ఊడి కింద నీళ్ళలో పడిపోయింది. వాడు “అయ్యో, నా ప్రభూ, అది అరువు తెచ్చిన గొడ్డలి” అంటూ కేకలు పెట్టాడు.
6 And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in there, and made the iron to float.
౬అప్పుడు దేవుని మనిషి “అదెక్కడ పడింది?” అని అడిగాడు. వాడు అతనికి అది పడిన ప్రాంతం చూపించాడు. అప్పుడతడు ఒక చిన్న కొమ్మని కొట్టి దాన్ని నీళ్ళలో వేశాడు. అప్పుడు ఆ ఇనుప గొడ్డలి నీళ్ళలో తేలి పైకి వచ్చింది.
7 And he said, Take it up to thee. So he put out his hand, and took it.
౭ఎలీషా “దాన్ని పైకి తియ్యి” అన్నాడు. వాడు తన చెయ్యి చాపి దాన్ని పట్టుకున్నాడు.
8 Now the king of Syria was warring against Israel, and he took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
౮తరువాత సిరియా దేశం రాజు ఇశ్రాయేలుతో యుద్ధం చేయాలనుకున్నాడు. తన సేవకులతో ప్రణాళిక వేసి “ఫలానా చోట నా శిబిరం వేసి ఉంచుతాను” అని చెప్పాడు.
9 And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou not pass such a place, for the Syrians are coming down there.
౯కానీ దేవుని మనిషి ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుకి కబురు పంపి “ఆ మార్గం గుండా వెళ్ళకుండా జాగ్రత్త పడు. ఎందుకంటే సిరియా సైన్యం అక్కడకు రాబోతున్నారు” అని తెలియజేశాడు.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of. And he saved himself there, not once nor twice.
౧౦ఇలా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు దేవుని మనిషి హెచ్చరిక చేసిన స్థలానికి మనుషులను పంపి అది నిజమని తెలుసుకున్నాడు. ఇలా ఆనేకసార్లు దేవుని మనిషి చేసిన హెచ్చరిక రాజును రక్షించింది.
11 And the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled for this thing, and he called his servants, and said to them, Will ye not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?
౧౧దీని వల్ల సిరియా రాజు మనసులో కలవరపడ్డాడు. తన సేవకులను పిలిచి “మనలో ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుకు సహాయం చేస్తున్నదెవరో నాకు మీరు చెప్పరా?” అని అడిగాడు.
12 And one of his servants said, No, my lord, O king, but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel tells the king of Israel the words that thou speak in thy bedchamber.
౧౨కాబట్టి అతని సేవకుల్లో ఒకడు “నా ప్రభూ, రాజా, అలా కాదు. ఇశ్రాయేలులో ఉన్న ప్రవక్త ఎలీషా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుకి మీరు మీ పడగ్గదిలో పలికిన మాటలు కూడా చెప్పేస్తాడు” అన్నాడు.
13 And he said, Go and see where he is that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
౧౩అప్పుడు రాజు “వెళ్ళండి, ఆ ఎలీషా ఇప్పుడు ఎక్కడున్నాడో తెలుసుకోండి. నేను మనుషులను పంపి అతణ్ణి పట్టుకుంటాను” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు. అప్పుడు వారు అతనికి “అతడు దోతానులో ఉన్నాడు” అని సమాచారమిచ్చారు.
14 Therefore he sent there horses, and chariots, and a great army. And they came by night, and encompassed the city about.
౧౪కాబట్టి రాజు దోతానుకి గుర్రాలనూ, రథాలనూ, భారీ సంఖ్యలో సైన్యాలనూ పంపించాడు. వారు రాత్రి వేళ వచ్చారు. ఆ పట్టణాన్ని నాలుగు వైపులా చుట్టుముట్టారు.
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an army with horses and chariots was round about the city. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do?
౧౫దేవుని మనిషి దగ్గర పనివాడు ఉదయాన్నే లేచి బయటకు వెళ్ళాడు. పట్టణం చుట్టూ గుర్రాలూ, రథాలూ, పెద్ద సైన్యం మోహరించి ఉండటం చూశాడు. అప్పుడు ఆ పనివాడు “అయ్యో ప్రభూ, ఇప్పుడు మనమేం చేద్దాం?” అని దేవుని మనిషితో అన్నాడు.
16 And he answered, Fear not, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
౧౬దానికి ఎలీషా “భయపడవద్దు, వాళ్ళ వైపు ఉన్నవాళ్ళ కంటే మన వైపు ఉన్నవాళ్లు ఎక్కువ మంది” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Jehovah, I pray thee, open his eyes that he may see. And Jehovah opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
౧౭ఆ తరువాత ఎలీషా “యెహోవా, వీడు చూడాలి. అందుకోసం దయచేసి వీడి కళ్ళు తెరువు” అని ప్రార్థన చేశాడు. అప్పుడు యెహోవా ఆ పనివాడి కళ్ళు తెరిచాడు. వాడు ఆ పర్వతమంతా అగ్ని జ్వాలల్లాంటి గుర్రాలూ, రథాలూ ఎలీషా చుట్టూ ఉండటం చూశాడు.
18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed to Jehovah, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
౧౮సిరియా సైన్యం ఎలీషాకి దగ్గరగా వచ్చారు. అప్పుడు ఎలీషా “ఈ సైన్యానికి గుడ్డితనం కలుగజెయ్యి” అని యెహోవాను ప్రార్థించాడు. ఎలీషా అడిగినట్టే యెహోవా వాళ్లకు గుడ్డితనం కలుగజేశాడు.
19 And Elisha said to them, This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. And he led them to Samaria.
౧౯అప్పుడు ఎలీషా వాళ్ళతో “మీరు వెళ్ళాల్సిన దారి ఇది కాదు. ఇది పట్టణమూ కాదు. మీరు వెదికే మనిషి దగ్గరికి మిమ్మల్ని తీసుకు వెళ్తాను, నా వెనకాలే రండి” అని చెప్పి వాళ్ళను షోమ్రోను పట్టణంలోకి తీసుకు వెళ్ళాడు.
20 And it came to pass, when they came into Samaria, that Elisha said, Jehovah, open the eyes of these men that they may see. And Jehovah opened their eyes, and they saw. And, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
౨౦వారు షోమ్రోనులోకి వచ్చిన తరువాత ఎలీషా “యెహోవా, వీళ్ళు చూడాలి. వీళ్ళ కళ్ళు తెరువు” అని ప్రార్థన చేశాడు. అప్పుడు యెహోవా వాళ్ళ కళ్ళు తెరిచాడు. తాము షోమ్రోనులో ఉన్నామని వాళ్లకర్థమైంది.
21 And the king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? Shall I smite them?
౨౧అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు వాళ్ళను చూసి “నా తండ్రీ, వీళ్ళను చంపమంటావా, చంపెయ్యనా?” అని ఎలీషాని అడిగాడు.
22 And he answered, Thou shall not smite them. Would thou smite those whom thou have taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? Set bread and water before them that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
౨౨అప్పుడు ఎలీషా “నీవు వాళ్ళని చంపకూడదు. నీ వింటినీ, కత్తినీ ప్రయోగించి బందీలుగా పట్టుకున్న వాళ్ళను ఎలా చంపుతావు? వాళ్లకు రొట్టె, నీళ్ళూ ఇవ్వు. వారు తిని తాగి తమ రాజు దగ్గరికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళిపోతారు” అన్నాడు.
23 And he prepared great provision for them. And when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
౨౩కాబట్టి రాజు వాళ్ళ కోసం విందు చేయించి అనేక రకాల భోజన పదార్థాలను తయారు చేయించాడు. వారు తిని తాగిన తరువాత వాళ్ళను తిరిగి తమ రాజు దగ్గరికి పంపించి వేశాడు. ఆ తరువాత సిరియా సైన్యం చాలా కాలం వరకూ ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశంలో అడుగు పెట్టలేదు.
24 And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
౨౪ఇదంతా జరిగిన తరువాత సిరియా రాజు బెన్హదదు తన సైన్యాన్నంతా తీసుకుని షోమ్రోనుపై దాడికి వచ్చి పట్టణం చుట్టూ ముట్టడి వేశాడు.
25 And there was a great famine in Samaria. And, behold, they besieged it until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.
౨౫దానివల్ల షోమ్రోనులో భయంకరమైన కరువు వచ్చింది. వాళ్ళ ముట్టడి ఎంత దారుణంగా ఉందంటే దాని మూలంగా షోమ్రోనులో గాడిద తలను ఎనభై తులాల వెండికీ, పావు కొలత పెన్నేరు దుంప ఐదు తులాల వెండికీ అమ్మారు.
26 And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
౨౬ఆ సమయంలో ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు ప్రాకారం గోడపై నడుస్తూ ఉన్నప్పుడు ఒక స్త్రీ రాజును చూసింది. “రాజా, నా ప్రభూ, సహాయం చెయ్యండి” అంటూ కేకలు పెట్టింది.
27 And he said, If Jehovah does not help thee, from where shall I help thee? Out of the threshing-floor, or out of the winepress?
౨౭అది విని రాజు “యెహోవాయే నీకు సహాయం చెయ్యడం లేదు. ఇక నేనేం చేస్తాను. ద్రాక్ష గానుగ నుండీ, ధాన్యపు కళ్ళం నుండీ ఏమన్నా వస్తుందా” అన్నాడు.
28 And the king said to her, What troubles thee? And she answered, This woman said to me, Give thy son that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.
౨౮రాజు ఇంకా “నీకు వచ్చిన కష్టం ఏమిటి?” అని అడిగాడు. దానికి ఆమె “ఒకామె నాతో ఇలా అంది, ‘ఈ రోజుకి నీ కొడుకుని ఇవ్వు. వాణ్ని ఈ రోజు మనం వండుకుని తినేద్దాం. రేపు నా కొడుకుని ఇస్తా. రేపు తిందాం’ అంది.
29 So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, Give thy son that we may eat him. And she has hid her son.
౨౯అలాగే మేము నా కొడుకుని వండుకుని తినేశాం. అయితే తరువాత రోజు నేను ‘ఈ రోజు భోజనానికి నీ కొడుకుని ఇవ్వు’ అని అడిగాను. కానీ ఆమె తన కొడుకుని దాచిపెట్టుకుంది” అని చెప్పింది.
30 And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes (now he was passing by upon the wall). And the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth inside upon his flesh.
౩౦రాజు ఆమె చెప్పింది విని తన బట్టలు చింపుకున్నాడు. ప్రాకారం గోడ పైన నడుస్తున్న రాజును ప్రజలు చూసినప్పుడు వారికి రాజు శరీరం పై గోనె పట్ట కనిపించింది.
31 Then he said, God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
౩౧అప్పుడు రాజు “ఈ రోజు షాపాతు కొడుకు ఎలీషా మెడపై తల నిలిచి ఉంటే దేవుడు నన్ను పెద్ద ప్రమాదంలో పడవేస్తాడు గాక” అన్నాడు.
32 But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man from before him, but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, Do ye see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door fast against him. Is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?
౩౨అప్పుడు ఎలీషా తన ఇంట్లో కూర్చుని ఉన్నాడు. అతనితో పాటు కొందరు పెద్దలు కూడా ఉన్నారు. అప్పుడు రాజు ఒక మనిషిని పంపాడు. ఆ వ్యక్తి ఎలీషా దగ్గరికి రాక ముందే ఎలీషా ఆ పెద్దలతో “ఈ హంతకుని కొడుకు నా తల తీయడానికి మనిషిని పంపాడు చూశారా! మీరు చూస్తూ ఉండండి. అతడు వచ్చిన వెంటనే తలుపుతో వాణ్ని వెనక్కు తోసి తలుపులు మూయండి. వాడి వెనకాలే వాడి యజమాని కాళ్ళ చప్పుడు మనకు విన్పిస్తున్నది కదా” అన్నాడు.
33 And while he was yet talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him, and he said, Behold, this evil is of Jehovah. Why should I wait for Jehovah any longer?
౩౩ఎలీషా మాట్లాడుతూ ఉండగానే రాజు పంపిన మనిషి, వాడి వెనకే రాజూ వచ్చారు. అప్పుడు రాజు “ఈ హాని మనకు యెహోవా వల్ల జరిగింది. ఇక మనం ఆయన కోసం ఎందుకు ఎదురు చూడాలి?” అన్నాడు.
