2 Chronicles 34
1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.
Nyolc éves volt Jósijáhú, mikor király lett és harmincegy évig uralkodott Jeruzsálemben.
2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in the ways of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
És tette azt, ami helyes az Örökkévaló szemeiben; járt ősének, Dávidnak útjaiban s nem tért el se jobbra, se balra.
3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father. And in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images.
S uralkodása nyolcadik évében, midőn ő még ifjú volt, kezdte keresni ősének, Dávidnak Istenét s a tizenkettedik évben kezdette megtisztítani Jehúdát meg Jeruzsálemet a magaslatoktól, az aséráktól, meg a faragott és öntött képektől.
4 And they broke down the altars of the Baalim in his presence, and the sun-images that were on high above them he hewed down, and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images, he broke in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it upon the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.
S lerombolták jelenlétében a Báalok oltárait a naposzlopokat pedig, amelyek azokon fölül voltak, kivágta; s az asérákat, meg a faragott s öntött képeket összezúzta és porrá törte s elhintette azoknak sírja fölé, akik azoknak áldoztak.
5 And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.
S a papok csontjait elégette oltáraikon; így megtisztította Jehúdát és Jeruzsálemet.
6 And so also in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even to Naphtali, in their ruins round about.
Továbbá Menasse meg Efraim és Simeón városaiban egészen Naftáliig, azok romjaiban köröskörül –
7 And he broke down the altars, and beat the Asherim and the graven images into powder, and hewed down all the sun-images throughout all the land of Israel, and returned to Jerusalem.
lerombolta az oltárakat, és az asérákat meg a faragott képeket porrá zúzta, mind a naposzlopokat pedig kivágta Izrael egész országában; erre visszatért Jeruzsálembe.
8 Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of Jehovah his God.
És uralkodása tizennyolcadik évében, tisztítván az országot s a házat, küldte Sáfánt, Acaljáhú fiát, s Máaszéjáhút, a város nagyját s Jóáchot, Jóácház fiát, a kancellárt, hogy kijavítsák az Örökkévaló, az ő Istene házát.
9 And they came to Hilkiah the high priest, and delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites, the keepers of the threshold, had gathered by the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and by all the remnant of Israel, and by all Judah and Benjamin, and by the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
És elmentek Chilkijáhúhoz, a főpaphoz s adták a pénzt, amelyet hoztak volt az Isten házába, amelyet gyűjtöttek volt a leviták, a küszöbőrök, Menasséből, meg Efráimból s Izrael minden maradékából s egész Jehúdából, meg Benjáminból, s visszatértek Jeruzsálembe.
10 And they delivered it into the hand of the workmen who had the oversight of the house of Jehovah. And the workmen who labored in the house of Jehovah gave it to mend and repair the house.
És adták a munka vezetőknek kezébe, kik rendelve voltak az Örökkévaló házára, s adták azon munkavezetőknek, kik az Örökkévaló házában dolgoztak, a háznak javítása és kiigazítása végett;
11 Even to the carpenters and to the builders they gave it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
s átadták a faműveseknek s az építőknek, hogy faragott köveket vegyenek, meg fát kapcsokra s hogy gerendázzák a házakat, amelyeket elrontottak Jehúda királyai.
12 And the men did the work faithfully. And the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward, and others of the Levites, all who were skilful with instruments of music.
És a férfiak hűséggel jártak el a munkában s feléjük kirendelve voltak: Jáchat meg Óbadjáhú, a leviták, Merári fiai közül és Zekharja s Mesullám, a kehatiák fiai közül felügyeletre, és a leviták közül mindenki, aki hozzáértett a hangszerekhez.
13 Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and set forward all who did the work in every manner of service. And of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
És a teherhordók fölé és felügyelőkül minden munkás fölé mindenféle szolgálatnál; és a leviták közül voltak írók, felügyelők és kapuőrök.
14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of Jehovah, Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of Jehovah given by Moses.
És midőn kivették az Örökkévaló házába hozott pénzt, megtalálta Chilkijáhú pap, az Örökkévaló tanának Mózes által adott könyvét.
15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
És megszólalt Chilkijáhú és szólt Sáfánhoz az íróhoz: A tannak könyvét találtam az Örökkévaló házában. S átadta Chilkijáhú a könyvet Sáfánnak.
16 And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and moreover brought back word to the king, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they are doing.
És elvitte Sáfán a könyvet a királyhoz s még jelentést is vitt a királynak, mondván: Mindaz, ami átadatott a te szolgáid kezébe, feldolgozzák ők;
17 And they have emptied out the money that was found in the house of Jehovah, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen.
s kiöntötték a pénzt, mely az Örökkévaló házában találtatott s adták azt a kirendeltek kezébe s a munkavezetők kezébe.
18 And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me. And Shaphan read therein before the king.
És jelentette Sáfán az író a királynak, mondván: Egy könyvet adott nekem Chilkijáhú pap. S felolvasott belőle Sáfán a király előtt.
19 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he tore his clothes.
És volt, amint hallotta a király a tannak szavait, megszaggatta ruháit.
20 And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying,
És parancsolta a király Chilkijáhúnak, meg Achíkámnak, Sáfán fiának, meg Abdónnak, Míkha fiának, meg Sáfánnak az írónak és Aszájának, a király szolgájának, mondván;
21 Go ye, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found. For great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of Jehovah, to do according to all that is written in this book.
Menjetek, kérdezzétek meg az Örökkévalót értem s az Izraelben meg Jehúdában megmaradt részért a megtalált könyv szavai felől, mert nagy az Örökkévalónak haragja, amely miránk kiomlott, mivelhogy nem őrizték meg őseink az Örökkévaló igéjét, hogy cselekedtek volna mind aszerint, amint írva van ebben a könyvben.
22 So Hilkiah, and those whom the king had commanded, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter), and they spoke to her to that effect.
Ekkor elment Chilkijáhú s akiket a király küldött Chulda prófétanőhöz, feleségéhez Sallúmnak, Tokehat, Chaszra fia fiának, a ruhaőrnek; ő lakott Jeruzsálemben, a második városrészben s beszéltek hozzá ilyeténképpen.
23 And she said to them, Thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel: Tell ye the man who sent you to me,
Erre mondta nekik: Így szól az Örökkévaló, Izrael Istene; mondjátok meg a férfiúnak, ki titeket hozzám küldött,
24 Thus says Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of it, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah.
így szól az Örökkévaló: íme én hozok veszedelmet e helyre s lakóira, mind amaz átkokat, amelyek írva vannak abban a könyvben, melyet felolvastak Jehúda királya előtt.
25 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands. Therefore my wrath is poured out upon this place, and it shall not be quenched.
Azért mivel elhagytak engem s füstölögtettek más isteneknek, hogy bosszantsanak engem kezeik minden művével, úgy hogy kiomlik haragom e helyre s nem alszik ki.
26 But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus ye shall say to him, Thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel: As concerning the words which thou have heard,
Jehúda királyához pedig, aki küldött bennetek megkérdezni az Örökkévalót, így szóljatok hozzá: így szól az Örökkévaló, Izrael Istene a szavak felől, melyeket hallottál:
27 because thy heart was tender, and thou humbled thyself before God when thou heard his words against this place, and against the inhabitants of it, and have humbled thyself before me, and have torn thy clothes, and wept before me, I also have heard thee, says Jehovah.
Mivelhogy meglágyult a szíved s megalázkodtál az Isten előtt, midőn hallottad szavait eme helyről és lakóiról, s megalázkodtál előttem és megszaggattad ruháidat és sírtál előttem, én is hallgattam rá, úgymond az Örökkévaló.
28 Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shall be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of it. And they brought back word to the king.
Íme én engedlek betérni őseidhez s betakaríttatsz sírodba békében, úgy hogy nem látják meg szemeid mind a veszedelmet, melyet hozni akarok e helyre s lakóira. S vittek a királynak választ.
29 Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
Erre küldött a király s összegyűjtötte Jehúda és Jeruzsálem véneit mind.
30 And the king went up to the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, both great and small. And he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of Jehovah.
Fölment a király az Örökkévaló házába, meg mind a Jehúda emberei s Jeruzsálem lakói és a papok és leviták és az egész nép nagyjától aprajáig; s felolvasta fülük hallatára minden szavait a szövetség könyvének, mely találtatott az Örökkévaló házában.
31 And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.
Erre felállt a király a helyére s megkötötte a szövetséget az Örökkévaló színe előtt, hogy jár az Örökkévaló után s hogy megőrzi parancsolatait, bizonyságait meg törvényeit egész szívével s egész lelkével, megtéve a szövetség szavait, amelyek írva vannak ebben a könyvben.
32 And he caused all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
És erre kötelezett mindenkit, aki találtatott Jeruzsálemben s Benjáminban; és cselekedtek Jeruzsálem lakói Istennek, őseik Istenének szövetsége szerint.
33 And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the sons of Israel, and made all who were found in Israel to serve, even to serve Jehovah their God. All his days they did not depart from following Jehovah, the God of their fathers.
És eltávolította Jósijáhú mind az utálatosságokat Izrael fiainak minden országából s ráhajtott mindenkit, aki találtatott Izraelben, hogy szolgálja az Örökkévalót, Istenüket; egész életében nem távolodtak el az Örökkévalótól, őseik Istenétől.
