2 Chronicles 28
1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah like David his father,
Acaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. No hizo lo que era justo a los ojos de Yahvé, como su padre David,
2 but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and also made molten images for the Baalim.
sino que siguió los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y también hizo imágenes fundidas para los baales.
3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his sons in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the sons of Israel.
Además, quemó incienso en el valle del hijo de Hinom, y quemó a sus hijos en el fuego, según las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahvé expulsó delante de los hijos de Israel.
4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
Sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, en las colinas y debajo de todo árbol verde.
5 Therefore Jehovah his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And they smote him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.
Por eso el Señor, su Dios, lo entregó en manos del rey de Siria. Lo hirieron y le arrebataron una gran cantidad de cautivos, y los llevaron a Damasco. También fue entregado en manos del rey de Israel, quien lo golpeó con una gran matanza.
6 For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men, because they had forsaken Jehovah, the God of their fathers.
Porque Peka, hijo de Remalías, mató en Judá a ciento veinte mil personas en un solo día, todos ellos hombres valientes, porque habían abandonado a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres.
7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah who was next to the king.
Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías, hijo del rey, a Azricam, jefe de la casa, y a Elcana, que estaba junto al rey.
8 And the sons of Israel carried away captive of their brothers two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and also took away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.
Los hijos de Israel llevaron cautivos de sus hermanos a doscientos mil mujeres, hijos e hijas, y también les quitaron mucho botín, y llevaron el botín a Samaria.
9 But a prophet of Jehovah was there, whose name was Oded. And he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, Behold, because Jehovah, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand. And ye have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.
Pero estaba allí un profeta de Yahvé, que se llamaba Oded, y salió al encuentro del ejército que había llegado a Samaria, y les dijo: “Miren, porque Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, se enojó con Judá, los ha entregado en sus manos, y ustedes los han matado con una furia que ha llegado hasta el cielo.
10 And now ye propose to keep under the sons of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen to you. Are there not even with you trespasses of your own against Jehovah your God?
Ahora pretendéis degradar a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como esclavos y esclavas para vosotros. ¿Acaso no hay en vosotros delitos propios contra el Señor, vuestro Dios?
11 Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives that ye have taken captive of your brothers. For the fierce wrath of Jehovah is upon you.
Ahora, pues, escúchenme y devuelvan a los cautivos que han tomado de sus hermanos, porque la feroz ira de Yahvé está sobre ustedes.”
12 Then certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,
Entonces algunos de los jefes de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, Berequías hijo de Meshillemot, Jehizquías hijo de Salum y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, se levantaron contra los que venían de la guerra,
13 and said to them, Ye shall not bring in the captives here. For ye propose that which will bring upon us a trespass against Jehovah, to add to our sins and to our trespass. For our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
y les dijeron: “No traigan aquí a los cautivos, porque ustedes pretenden lo que traerá sobre nosotros una transgresión contra Yahvé, para añadir a nuestros pecados y a nuestra culpa; pues nuestra culpa es grande, y hay una ira feroz contra Israel.”
14 So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the rulers and all the assembly.
Entonces los hombres armados dejaron a los cautivos y el botín ante los príncipes y toda la asamblea.
15 And the men who have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all who were naked among them, and dressed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.
Los hombres mencionados por su nombre se levantaron y tomaron a los cautivos, y con el botín vistieron a todos los que estaban desnudos entre ellos, los vistieron, les dieron sandalias, les dieron de comer y de beber, los ungieron, cargaron a todos los débiles en asnos y los llevaron a Jericó, la ciudad de las palmeras, con sus hermanos. Luego volvieron a Samaria.
16 At that time king Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.
En aquel tiempo el rey Acaz envió a los reyes de Asiria para que lo ayudaran.
17 For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.
Porque de nuevo los edomitas habían llegado y atacado a Judá, y se habían llevado cautivos.
18 The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with the towns of it, and Timnah with the towns of it, also Gimzo and the towns of it. And they dwelt there.
Los filisteos también habían invadido las ciudades de la llanura y del sur de Judá, y habían tomado Bet Semes, Ajalón, Gederot, Soco con sus aldeas, Timná con sus aldeas, y también Gimzo y sus aldeas; y vivían allí.
19 For Jehovah brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had dealt wantonly in Judah, and trespassed severely against Jehovah.
Porque Yahvé rebajó a Judá por culpa de Ajaz, rey de Israel, porque actuó sin freno en Judá y cometió graves infracciones contra Yahvé.
20 And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came to him, and distressed him, but did not strengthen him.
Tilgat-pilneser, rey de Asiria, vino a él y le dio problemas, pero no lo fortaleció.
21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Jehovah, and out of the house of the king and of the rulers, and gave it to the king of Assyria, but it did not help him.
Porque Acaz tomó una parte de la casa de Yahvé, de la casa del rey y de los príncipes, y se la dio al rey de Asiria, pero no lo ayudó.
22 And in the time of his distress he trespassed yet more against Jehovah, this same king Ahaz.
En el tiempo de su angustia, este mismo rey Acaz se rebeló aún más contra el Señor.
23 For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which smote him. And he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, therefore I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
Porque sacrificó a los dioses de Damasco que lo habían derrotado. Dijo: “Porque los dioses de los reyes de Siria los ayudaron, les sacrificaré para que me ayuden”. Pero fueron la ruina de él y de todo Israel.
24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of Jehovah. And he made altars for him in every corner of Jerusalem.
Acaz reunió los utensilios de la casa de Dios, cortó en pedazos los utensilios de la casa de Dios y cerró las puertas de la casa de Yahvé, y se hizo altares en todos los rincones de Jerusalén.
25 And in every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger Jehovah, the God of his fathers.
En todas las ciudades de Judá hizo lugares altos para quemar incienso a otros dioses, y provocó la ira de Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres.
26 Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
El resto de sus actos y todos sus caminos, primeros y últimos, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá e Israel.
27 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem. For they did not bring him into the sepulchers of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
Acaz durmió con sus padres, y lo enterraron en la ciudad, en Jerusalén, porque no lo llevaron a los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y su hijo Ezequías reinó en su lugar.
