< 1 Samuel 25 >

1 And Samuel died. And all Israel gathered themselves together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
Na rĩrĩ, Samũeli agĩkua, nao andũ othe a Isiraeli makĩũngana makĩmũrĩrĩra; makĩmũthika mũciĩ gwake kũu Rama. Nake Daudi agĩikũrũka agĩthiĩ Werũ wa Maoni.
2 And there was a man in Maon whose possessions were in Carmel. And the man was very great in goods, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats. And he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
3 Now the name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. And the woman was of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance, but the man was churlish and evil in his doings, and he was of the house of Caleb.
Nake eetagwo Nabali, na mũtumia wake eetagwo Abigaili. Aarĩ mũtumia mũũgĩ na mũthaka, no mũthuuriwe, ũrĩa warĩ Mũkalebu, aarĩ mũũru na mũkarĩ maũndũ-inĩ make.
4 And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.
Daudi arĩ werũ-inĩ nĩaiguire atĩ Nabali nĩ ngʼondu aramura guoya.
5 And David sent ten young men, and David said to the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio agĩtũma aanake ikũmi akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ambatai mũthiĩ kũrĩ Nabali kũu Karimeli na mũmũgeithie mwĩĩtanĩtie na niĩ.
6 And thus ye shall say to him who lives in prosperity, Peace be to thee, and peace be to thy house, and peace be to all that thou have.
Mwĩrei atĩrĩ; ‘Ũrotũũra mĩaka mĩingĩ! Ũrogĩa na ũgima, wee na nyũmba yaku! O na kĩrĩa gĩothe ũrĩ nakĩo kĩroogĩa na ũhooreri!
7 And now I have heard that thou have shearers. Thy shepherds have now been with us, and we did them no hurt, neither was there anything missing to them all the while they were in Carmel.
“‘Na rĩrĩ, ndĩraigua atĩ nĩ hĩndĩ ya kũmura ngʼondu guoya. Rĩrĩa arĩithi aku maarĩ hamwe na ithuĩ, tũtiamekire ũũru, na ihinda rĩrĩa rĩothe maarĩ Karimeli gũtirĩ kĩndũ o na kĩmwe kĩao kĩorire.
8 Ask thy young men, and they will tell thee. Therefore let the young men find favor in thine eyes, for we come in a good day. Give, I pray thee, whatever comes to thy hand to thy servants, and to thy son David.
Ũria ndungata ciaku na nĩigũkwĩra. Nĩ ũndũ wa ũguo ĩka aanake acio akwa maũndũ mega, nĩgũkorwo tũũkĩte hĩndĩ ya gĩkeno. Ndagũthaitha ũhe ndungata ciaku na mũrũguo Daudi kĩrĩa gĩothe ũngĩmoonera.’”
9 And when David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.
Rĩrĩa andũ a Daudi maakinyire-rĩ, makĩhe Nabali ndũmĩrĩri ĩyo ya Daudi. Nao magĩcooka magĩeterera.
10 And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants now-a-days who break away every man from his master.
Nabali agĩcookeria ndungata cia Daudi atĩrĩ, “Daudi nũũ? Mũrũ wa Jesii ũyũ nĩ ũrĩkũ? Ndungata nyingĩ nĩiroora ikoima kũrĩ aathani acio matukũ maya.
11 Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men of whom I know not from where they are?
Nĩ kĩĩ kĩngĩtũma njoe mĩgate yakwa, na maaĩ, na nyama iria thĩnjĩire andũ akwa a kũmura ngʼondu guoya, ndĩcihe andũ itooĩ kũrĩa moimĩte?”
12 So David's young men turned on their way, and went back, and came and told him according to all these words.
Andũ acio a Daudi makĩhũndũka, magĩcooka na thuutha. Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa maakinyire, makĩheana ũhoro ũcio wothe.
13 And David said to his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword, and David also girded on his sword. And there went up after David about four hundred men, and two hundred abode by the baggage.
Daudi akĩĩra andũ ake atĩrĩ, “Mwĩohei hiũ cianyu cia njora!” Nao makĩĩoha hiũ ciao cia njora, o nake Daudi akĩĩoha rwake. Andũ ta magana mana makĩambata hamwe na Daudi, nao andũ magana meerĩ magĩtigwo maikarĩtie indo.
14 But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master, and he railed at them.
Na rĩrĩ, ũmwe wa ndungata cia Nabali akĩĩra Abigaili mũtumia wa Nabali atĩrĩ, “Daudi nĩaratũmĩte ndungata ciake kuuma werũ-inĩ irehere mwathi witũ ngeithi, nake araciruma.
15 But the men were very good to us, and we were not hurt, neither did we miss anything as long as we went with them when we were in the fields.
No andũ acio nĩmatwĩkire wega. Matiatwĩkire ũũru, ihinda rĩothe rĩrĩa twarĩ kũu mĩgũnda-inĩ hakuhĩ nao, na gũtirĩ kĩndũ kĩorire.
16 They were a wall to us both by night and by day all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.
Ũtukũ na mũthenya maarĩ ta rũthingo rwatũrigiicĩirie hĩndĩ ciothe rĩrĩa twarĩithagia ngʼondu ciitũ gũkuhĩ nao.
17 Now therefore know and consider what thou will do, for evil is determined against our master, and against all his house. For he is such a worthless fellow that a man cannot speak to him.
Rĩu-rĩ, wĩciirie wone ũrĩa wagĩrĩirwo nĩ gwĩka, nĩ ũndũ mwanangĩko nĩũkuhĩrĩirie mwathi witũ na nyũmba yake yothe. Nĩ mũndũ mwaganu ũũ atĩ gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩmwarĩria.”
18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched grain, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on donkeys.
Abigaili ndaateire ihinda.
19 And she said to her young men, Go on before me, behold, I come after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal.
Ningĩ akĩĩra ndungata ciake atĩrĩ, “Thiiagai mbere; nĩngũmũrũmĩrĩra.” No ndeerire mũthuuriwe Nabali ũhoro ũcio.
20 And it was so, as she rode on her donkey, and came down by the covert of the mountain, that, behold, David and his men came down toward her, and she met them.
21 Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow has in the wilderness so that nothing was missed of all that pertained to him, and he has returned me evil for good.
Daudi aakoretwo oiga atĩrĩ, “Warĩ wĩra wa tũhũ, niĩ ngarorera mũndũ ũcio indo ciake kũu werũ-inĩ, nĩgeetha gũtikagĩe kĩndũ o na kĩmwe gĩake gĩkũũra. Nake andĩhĩte wega na ũũru.
22 God do so to the enemies of David, and more also, if I leave of all that pertains to him by the morning light so much as one man-child.
Ngai aroherithia Daudi, na amwĩke ũũru makĩria, ingĩgaatigia mũndũ mũrũme o na ũmwe muoyo ũrĩa ũmũkoniĩ rũciũ rũciinĩ!”
23 And when Abigail saw David, she hastened, and alighted from her donkey, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground.
24 And she fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me be the iniquity, and let thy handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine ears, and hear thou the words of thy handmaid.
Akĩĩgũithia magũrũ-inĩ make, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mwathi wakwa, reke ũũru ũyũ ũnjookerere ndĩ nyiki. Ndagũthaitha, reke ndungata yaku ĩkwarĩrie; ũthikĩrĩrie ũrĩa ndungata yaku ĩrenda kuuga.
25 Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this worthless fellow, even Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and folly is with him. But I thy handmaid saw not the young men of my lord whom thou sent.
Mwathi wakwa aroaga kũrũmbũiya mũndũ ũcio mwaganu ti Nabali. Ahaana o ta rĩĩtwa rĩake, rĩĩtwa rĩake riugĩte mũndũ mũkĩĩgu, na akoragwo arĩ o mũkĩĩgu. No niĩ ndungata yaku-rĩ, ndionire andũ acio mwathi wakwa aatũmĩte.
26 Now therefore, my lord, as Jehovah lives, and as thy soul lives, since Jehovah has withheld thee from blood guiltiness, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now therefore let thine enemies, and those who seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
“Na rĩrĩ, kuona atĩ wee mwathi wakwa, Jehova nĩakweheranĩirie na ũiti wa thakame, na kwaga kwĩrĩhĩria na moko maku-rĩ, ti-itherũ o ta ũrĩa Jehova atũũraga muoyo na ũrĩa wee ũtũũraga muoyo-rĩ, thũ ciaku na arĩa othe mangĩenda gwĩka mwathi wakwa ũũru marohaana ta Nabali.
27 And now this present which thy servant has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men who follow my lord.
Na ũreke kĩheo gĩkĩ, kĩrĩa ndungata yaku ĩreheire mwathi wakwa, kĩnengerwo andũ arĩa makũrũmĩrĩire.
28 Forgive, I pray thee, the trespass of thy handmaid. For Jehovah will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord fights the battles of Jehovah, and evil shall not be found in thee all thy days.
Ndagũthaitha ũrekere ndungata yaku ihĩtia rĩayo, nĩgũkorwo no nginya Jehova agaatũma nyũmba ya mwathi wakwa ĩtuĩke ya ũthamaki wa gũtũũra, tondũ arũaga mbaara cia Jehova. Gũtikanoneke ũndũ mũũru thĩinĩ waku hĩndĩ ĩrĩa yothe ũgũtũũra muoyo.
29 And though men be risen up to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul, yet the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with Jehovah thy God. And the souls of thine enemies, them he shall sling out as from the hollow of a sling.
O na kũngĩkorwo kũrĩ mũndũ ũgũthingatĩte akũrute muoyo-rĩ, muoyo wa mwathi wakwa nĩũgakorwo wohanĩtio wega na kĩohe kĩa arĩa marĩ muoyo nĩ Jehova Ngai waku. No mĩoyo ya thũ ciaku nĩakamĩikia kũraihu ta ĩikĩtio na kĩgũtha.
30 And it shall come to pass, when Jehovah shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee prince over Israel,
Rĩrĩa Jehova agaakorwo ekĩte mwathi wakwa maũndũ mothe mega marĩa eeranĩire mamũkoniĩ, na akorwo agũtuĩte mũtongoria wa gũtongoragia Isiraeli-rĩ,
31 that this shall be no grief to thee, nor offense of heart to my lord, either that thou have shed blood without cause, or that my lord has avenged himself. And when Jehovah shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thy handmaid.
32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who sent thee this day to meet me,
Daudi akĩĩra Abigaili atĩrĩ, “Jehova, Ngai wa Isiraeli, arogoocwo, ũcio ũgũtũmire ũmũthĩ ũũke ũcemanie na niĩ.
33 and blessed be thy discretion, and blessed be thou, who have kept me this day from blood guiltiness, and from avenging myself with my own hand.
34 For in very deed, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, lives, who has withheld me from hurting thee, unless thou had hastened and come to meet me, surely there had not been left to Nabal by the morning light so much as one man-child.
Tiga nĩ ũguo-rĩ, ti-itherũ o ta ũrĩa Jehova, Ngai wa Isiraeli, atũũraga muoyo, ũcio ũgiririe ngũgere ngero, korwo ndũnooka na ihenya kũndũnga-rĩ, gũtirĩ mũndũ mũrũme o na ũmwe ũkoniĩ Nabali ũngĩakorwo arĩ muoyo gũgĩkĩa.”
35 So David received from her hand that which she had brought him. And he said to her, Go up in peace to thy house. See, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.
Ningĩ Daudi akĩamũkĩra kĩrĩa aamũreheire kuuma guoko-inĩ gwake, na akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Inũka na thayũ. Nĩndaigua ũhoro waku na nĩndetĩkĩra ihooya rĩaku.”
36 And Abigail came to Nabal, and, behold, he held a feast in his house like the feast of a king. And Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. Therefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
37 And it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, that his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
Ningĩ rũciinĩ gwakĩa, rĩrĩa Nabali aarĩĩũkirwo, mũtumia wake akĩmwĩra maũndũ macio mothe; ngoro yake ĩgĩkira, akĩhaana ta ihiga.
38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that Jehovah smote Nabal, so that he died.
Thuutha wa mĩthenya ta ikũmi, Jehova akĩgũtha Nabali, nake agĩkua.
39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be Jehovah, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from evil, and the evil-doing of Nabal Jehovah has returned upon his own head. And David sent and spoke concerning Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Daudi aaiguire atĩ Nabali nĩakuĩte, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Jehova arogoocwo, ũrĩa ũndũĩrĩire mbaara iitũ na Nabali nĩ ũndũ wa kũũnyarara. Nĩagirĩrĩirie ndungata yake ndĩgeeke ũũru, na agacookereria Nabali ũũru wake we mwene.” Daudi agĩcooka agĩtũmanĩra Abigaili, akĩmũũria atuĩke mũtumia wake.
40 And when the servants of David came to Abigail to Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, David has sent us to thee, to take thee to him to wife.
Ndungata ciake igĩthiĩ Karimeli, ikĩĩra Abigaili atĩrĩ, “Daudi nĩatũtũmĩte kũrĩ we tũgũtware ũgatuĩke mũtumia wake.”
41 And she arose, and bowed herself with her face to the earth, and said, Behold, thy handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
Akĩinamĩrĩra, agĩturumithia ũthiũ thĩ, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Niĩ ndungata yanyu ya mũndũ-wa-nja ndĩ haha, nĩndĩhaarĩirie gũtungatĩra na gũthambia magũrũ ma ndungata cia mwathi wakwa.”
42 And Abigail hastened, and arose, and rode upon a donkey, with five of her damsels who followed her. And she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.
Abigaili akĩhaica ndigiri na ihenya, agĩthiĩ na airĩtu ake atano a kũmũtungataga, agĩtwarana hamwe na andũ acio maatũmĩtwo nĩ Daudi, agĩtuĩka mũtumia wake.
43 David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel, and they became his wives, both of them.
Daudi nĩahikĩtie Ahinoamu wa Jezireeli, nao eerĩ maarĩ atumia ake.
44 Now Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.
No Saũlũ nĩaheanĩte mwarĩ Mikali, mũtumia wa Daudi, kũrĩ Palitieli wa Laishi, ũrĩa warĩ wa kuuma Galimu.
