1 Samuel 18
1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
౧దావీదు సౌలుతో మాట్లాడడం అయిపోయిన తరువాత, యోనాతాను మనసు దావీదు మనసుతో పెనవేసుకు పోయింది. యోనాతాను దావీదును తనకు ప్రాణస్నేహితునిగా భావించుకుని అతణ్ణి ప్రేమించాడు.
2 And Saul took him that day, and would no more let him go home to his father's house.
౨ఆ రోజు దావీదును అతని తండ్రి ఇంటికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళనీయకుండా సౌలు తన దగ్గరే ఉంచుకున్నాడు.
3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
౩యోనాతాను దావీదును తన ప్రాణంతో సమానంగా ఎంచుకున్నాడు కాబట్టి అతనితో ఒప్పందం చేసుకున్నాడు.
4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his apparel, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his belt.
౪యోనాతాను తన దుప్పటి, కత్తి, విల్లు, నడికట్టును తీసి దావీదుకు ఇచ్చాడు.
5 And David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants.
౫దావీదు, సౌలు తనను పంపిన ప్రతి చోటుకీ వెళ్ళి, తెలివిగా పనులు సాధించుకుంటూ వచ్చాడు. సౌలు తన సైన్యంలో అధిపతిగా అతణ్ణి నియమించాడు. ప్రజల దృష్టిలో, సౌలు సేవకుల దృష్టిలో దావీదు అనుకూలంగా ఉన్నాడు.
6 And it came to pass as they came, when David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with timbrels, with joy, and with instruments of music.
౬వారు ఫిలిష్తీయులను ఓడించి, తిరిగి వస్తున్నప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు ఊళ్ళల్లో ఉన్న స్త్రీలంతా అమిత ఆనందంగా తంబురలతో, వాయిద్యాలతో పాడుతూ నాట్యం చేస్తూ రాజైన సౌలును ఎదుర్కున్నారు.
7 And the women sang one to another as they played, and said, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
౭ఆ స్త్రీలు పాటలు పాడుతూ వాయిద్యాలు వాయిస్తూ: “సౌలు వెయ్యిమందిని, దావీదు పదివేలమందినీ చంపేశారు.” అని పాడారు.
8 And Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him, and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands, and what can he have more but the kingdom?
౮ఈ పాట సౌలుకు నచ్చలేదు, అతనికి చాలా కోపం వచ్చింది. “వారు దావీదుకు పదివేలమంది అన్నారు కానీ నాకు వెయ్యిమందే అన్నారు. రాజ్యం కాకుండా అతడు ఇంకేం తీసుకోగలడు” అని మనసులో అనుకున్నాడు.
9 And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
౯అప్పటినుండి సౌలు దావీదుపై కక్ష పెంచుకున్నాడు.
10 And it came to pass on the morrow, that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house. And David played with his hand, as he did day by day, and Saul had his spear in his hand.
౧౦తరువాతి రోజు దేవుని నుండి దురాత్మ సౌలు మీదికి బలంగా దిగి వచ్చింది. అతడు ఇంట్లో పూనకంలో మాట్లాడుతున్నప్పుడు దావీదు ఎప్పటిలాగే తంతి వాద్యం తీసుకుని వాయించాడు.
11 And Saul cast the spear, for he said, I will smite David even to the wall. And David turned away from his presence twice.
౧౧ఒకసారి సౌలు తన చేతిలో ఉన్న ఈటెతో దావీదును గోడకు గుచ్చేస్తాననుకుని ఆ ఈటెను దావీదు మీద బలంగా విసిరాడు. అయితే అది తనకు తగలకుండా దావీదు రెండుసార్లు తప్పించుకున్నాడు.
12 And Saul was afraid of David because Jehovah was with him, and was departed from Saul.
౧౨యెహోవా తనను విడిచిపెట్టి దావీదుకు తోడుగా ఉండడం చూసి సౌలు దావీదు పట్ల భయం పెంచుకున్నాడు.
13 Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand, and he went out and came in before the people.
౧౩అందుకని సౌలు దావీదును తన దగ్గర ఉండకుండాా సైనికులకు నాయకుడుగా నియమించాడు. అతడు ప్రజలందరితో కలిసిమెలిసి ఉన్నాడు.
14 And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways, and Jehovah was with him.
౧౪దావీదుకు యెహోవా తోడుగా ఉండడంవల్ల అన్ని విషయాల్లో తెలివితేటలతో ప్రవర్తిస్తూ వచ్చాడు.
15 And when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
౧౫దావీదు మరింతగా అభివృద్ధి పొందడం సౌలు చూసి ఇంకా ఎక్కువగా భయపడ్డాడు.
16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, for he went out and came in before them.
౧౬దావీదు ఇశ్రాయేలువారితో, యూదావారితో కలిసిమెలిసి ఉండడంవల్ల వారు అతణ్ణి ప్రేమించారు.
17 And Saul said to David, Behold, my elder daughter Merab, I will give her to thee for a wife. Only be thou valiant for me, and fight Jehovah's battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.
౧౭సౌలు “నా చేతిలో అతడు చావకూడదు, ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలో పడాలి” అనుకుని దావీదుతో “నా పెద్ద కూతురు మేరబు ఇదిగో. ఆమెను నీకు భార్యగా ఇస్తాను. కేవలం నీవు నా కోసం ధైర్యంగా ఉండి, యెహోవా యుద్ధాలు చేస్తూ ఉండు” అన్నాడు.
18 And David said to Saul, Who am I, and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?
౧౮దావీదు “రాజువైన నీకు అల్లుణ్ణి కావడానికి నేనెంతటివాణ్ణి? నా స్తోమతు ఎంతటిది? ఇశ్రాయేలులో నా తండ్రి కుటుంబం ఏపాటిది?” అని సౌలుతో అన్నాడు.
19 But it came to pass at the time when Merab, Saul's daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite to wife.
౧౯అయితే సౌలు తన కుమార్తె మేరబును దావీదుకు ఇచ్చి పెళ్లి చేయవలసి ఉండగా, ఆమెను మెహోల గ్రామం వాడైన అద్రీయేలుకు ఇచ్చి పెళ్లి చేశాడు.
20 And Michal, Saul's daughter, loved David, and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.
౨౦అయితే సౌలు కూతురు మీకాలు దావీదును ప్రేమించింది. సౌలు అది విని సంతోషించాడు.
21 And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David, Thou shall this day be my son-in-law a second time.
౨౧“ఆమెను అతనికిచ్చి పెళ్లి చేస్తాను. ఆమె అతనికి ఉరి లాగా ఉంటుంది, ఫిలిష్తీయుల చెయ్యి అతనికి వ్యతిరేకంగా ఉంటుంది.” అని అనుకున్నాడు. సౌలు, రెండోసారి దావీదుతో “నువ్వు నా అల్లుడౌతున్నావు” అని చెప్పాడు.
22 And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Converse with David secretly, and say, Behold, the king has delight in thee, and all his servants love thee. Now therefore be the king's son-in-law.
౨౨సౌలు తన సేవకులతో ఇలా ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు “మీరు దావీదుతో రహస్యంగా మాట్లాడండి, ‘రాజుకు నువ్వంటే ఇష్టం కలిగింది. రాజు సేవకులంతా నీపట్ల స్నేహంగా ఉన్నారు. కాబట్టి నువ్వు రాజుకు అల్లుడివి కావాలి’ అని చెప్పండి.”
23 And Saul's servants spoke those words in the ears of David. And David said, Does it seem to you a light thing to be the king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?
౨౩సౌలు సేవకులు దావీదుతో మాట్లాడినప్పుడు అతడు “నేను పేదవాణ్ణి, పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులు లేనివాణ్ణి. రాజుకు అల్లుడు కావడమంటే ఆది చిన్న విషయంగా మీకు అనిపిస్తుందా?” అని వారితో అన్నాడు.
24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, On this manner David spoke.
౨౪సౌలు సేవకులు దావీదు చెప్పిన మాటలు అతనికి తెలియచేశారు.
25 And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king does not desire any dowry, but a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
౨౫ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతికి దావీదు చిక్కేలా చేయాలన్న తలంపుతో సౌలు “రాజు కన్యాశుల్కం ఏమీ కోరడం లేదు, అయితే రాజు శత్రువులమీద పగతీర్చుకోవడానికి కేవలం వందమంది ఫిలిష్తీయుల మర్మాంగ చర్మాలు తీసుకురావాలని కోరుతున్నాడని దావీదుకు చెప్పండి” అన్నాడు.
26 And when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law. And the days were not expired.
౨౬సౌలు సేవకులు ఆ మాటలు దావీదుకు చెప్పినప్పుడు, రాజుకు అల్లుడు కావాలన్న కోరికతో
27 And David arose and went, he and his men, and killed of the Philistines two hundred men. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full number to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.
౨౭గడువుకంటే ముందుగానే లేచి తన మనుషులతో వెళ్ళి ఫిలిష్తీయుల్లో 200 మందిని చంపి వారి మర్మాంగ చర్మాలు తీసుకువచ్చి, రాజుకు అల్లుడు అయ్యేందుకు అవసరమైన లెక్క పూర్తిచేసి అప్పగించాడు. సౌలు తన కుమార్తె మీకాలును అతనికిచ్చి పెళ్లి చేశాడు.
28 And Saul saw and knew that Jehovah was with David, and Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him.
౨౮యెహోవా దావీదుకు తోడుగా ఉండడం, తన కుమార్తె మీకాలు అతణ్ణి ప్రేమించడం చూసి,
29 And Saul was yet the more afraid of David, and Saul was David's enemy continually.
౨౯సౌలు దావీదు అంటే మరింత భయం పెంచుకున్నాడు, దావీదుపై శత్రుభావం పెంచుకున్నాడు.
30 Then the rulers of the Philistines went forth, and it came to pass, as often as they went forth, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name was very precious.
౩౦ఫిలిష్తీయ నాయకులు తరుచుగా యుద్ధానికి దండెత్తి వస్తూ ఉండేవారు. వారు దండెత్తినప్పుడల్లా దావీదు ఎక్కువ వివేకంతో ప్రవర్తించడం వల్ల సౌలు సేవకులందరికంటే అతని పేరు ఎంతో ప్రఖ్యాతి చెందింది.
