1 Peter 4
1 Therefore of Christ having suffered in flesh for us, arm ye yourselves also with the same mentality, because he who has suffered in flesh has ceased from sin,
Ker je torej Kristus za nas trpel v mesu, se podobno tudi vi oborožite z istim mišljenjem, kajti kdor je trpel v mesu, je prenehal z grehom;
2 in order to live the remaining time in flesh, no longer by lusts of men, but by the will of God.
da preostanek svojega časa v mesu ne bi več živel za človeška poželenja, temveč za Božjo voljo.
3 For enough time of life has past for you to accomplish the will of the Gentiles, having gone in debaucheries, lusts, excesses of wine, revelings, drinking parties, and lawless idolatries.
Kajti pretekli čas našega življenja nam lahko zadošča, da smo izvrševali voljo poganov, ko smo hodili v pohotnosti, poželenjih, vinskih izgredih, veseljačenjih, gostijah in gnusnih malikovanjih;
4 During which they think it strange of you not running together into the same pouring out of debauchery, while they slander.
pri čemer imajo za čudno, da ne tečete z njimi k istemu izgredu upornosti, govoreč zlo o vas;
5 Men who will give back an accounting to him who fares readily to judge the living and the dead.
ki bodo dali obračun tistemu, ki je pripravljen, da sodi žive in mrtve.
6 For good news was preached even to the dead for this, so that they might indeed be judged according to men in flesh, but live according to God in spirit.
Zaradi tega razloga je bil evangelij oznanjen tudi tem, ki so mrtvi, da bi bili lahko sojeni po človeško, v mesu, toda glede Boga bi živeli v duhu.
7 But the end of all things has approached. Therefore be serious, and be sober for the prayers.
Toda konec vseh stvari je blizu; bodite torej trezni in čujte v molitvi.
8 And above all having fervent love for yourselves, because love will cover a multitude of sins,
Bolj pa kakor karkoli drugega imejte med seboj gorečo ljubezen, kajti ljubezen pokrije množico grehov.
9 stranger-loving toward each other without complaints.
Brez godrnjanja uporabljajte gostoljubnost drug do drugega.
10 As each has received a gift, serving it for yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Kakor je vsak prejel dar, točno tako enako služite drug drugemu kot dobri oskrbniki mnogovrstne Božje milosti.
11 If any man speaks, as oracles of God. If any man serves, as of ability as God supplies. So that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the dominion into the ages of the ages. Truly. (aiōn g165)
Če katerikoli človek govori, naj govori kakor Božje izreke; če katerikoli človek služi, naj to opravlja kakor iz zmožnosti, ki jo daje Bog; da bo v vseh stvareh Bog lahko proslavljen po Jezusu Kristusu, ki mu bodi hvala in gospostvo na veke vekov. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Beloved, ye should not be surprised at the fieriness in you, which occurs for a trial to you, like a strange thing happening to you.
Ljubljeni, ne mislite čudno glede ognjene preizkušnje, ki je, da vas preizkusi, kakor da se vam je zgodila neka čudna stvar,
13 But rejoice in so far as ye are partakers in the sufferings of the Christ, so that also at the revealing of his glory ye may rejoice, having exceeding joy.
temveč se veselite, kolikor ste soudeleženci Kristusovih trpljenj; da ko se bo razodela njegova slava, boste lahko tudi veseli s silno radostjo.
14 Blessed are ye if ye are reviled for the name of Christ, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. From them he is indeed blasphemed, but from you he is glorified.
Če ste grajani zaradi Kristusovega imena, ste srečni; kajti na vas počiva duh slave in Boga; na njihovi strani je obrekovanje, toda na vaši strani je on proslavljen.
15 For let not any man of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a busybody.
Toda nihče izmed vas naj ne trpi kot morilec ali kot tat ali kot hudodelec ali kot vtikljivec v zadeve drugih ljudi.
16 But if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this regard.
Vendar če katerikoli človek trpi kot kristjan, naj ne bo osramočen, temveč naj zaradi tega proslavlja Boga.
17 Because the time to begin judgment is from the house of God, and if first from us, what is the end of those who disobey the good news of God?
Kajti prihaja čas, da se mora sodba začeti v Božji hiši; in če se ta najprej začne pri nas, kakšen bo konec teh, ki ne ubogajo Božjega evangelija?
18 And if the righteous man is scarcely saved, where will the irreverent and sinful man appear?
In če bo pravični komaj rešen, kje se bo pokazal brezbožnež in grešnik?
19 Therefore also let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls as to a faithful Creator by well-doing.
Zatorej naj tisti, ki trpijo glede na Božjo voljo, čuvanje svojih duš izročijo njemu kot zvestemu Stvarniku, s početjem dobrega.
