1 Kings 2
1 Now the days of David drew near that he should die. And he charged Solomon his son, saying,

2 I am going the way of all the earth. Be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man,
“Eu estou indo pelo caminho de toda a terra. Seja forte, portanto, e mostre-se homem;
3 and keep the charge of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that thou may prosper in all that thou do, and wherever thou turn thyself.
e guarde a instrução de Javé seu Deus, para andar em seus caminhos, para guardar seus estatutos, seus mandamentos, suas ordenanças e seus testemunhos, de acordo com o que está escrito na lei de Moisés, para que possa prosperar em tudo o que fizer e para onde quer que se volte.
4 That Jehovah may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, If thy sons take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee a man on the throne of Israel.
Então Javé pode estabelecer sua palavra que falou a meu respeito, dizendo: 'Se teus filhos tiverem cuidado de seu caminho, para caminharem diante de mim em verdade com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, não te faltará', disse ele, 'um homem no trono de Israel'.
5 Moreover thou also know what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, even what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his belt that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.
“Além disso, você também sabe o que Joab, filho de Zeruia, me fez, mesmo o que ele fez aos dois capitães dos exércitos de Israel, a Abner, filho de Ner, e a Amasa, filho de Jether, que ele matou, e derramou o sangue da guerra em paz, e colocou o sangue da guerra em sua faixa que estava ao redor de sua cintura e em suas sandálias que estavam em seus pés.
6 Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and do not let his hoar head go down to Sheol in peace. (Sheol h7585)
Portanto, faça de acordo com sua sabedoria, e não deixe sua cabeça cinzenta descer em paz para o Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
7 But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those who eat at thy table, for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.
Mas mostre bondade para com os filhos de Barzillai, o Gileadita, e deixe-os estar entre aqueles que comem à sua mesa; pois assim eles vieram até mim quando eu fugi de Absalom, seu irmão.
8 And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by Jehovah, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.
“Eis que está convosco Shimei, o filho de Gera, o benjamita de Bahurim, que me amaldiçoou com uma maldição grave no dia em que fui a Mahanaim; mas ele desceu ao Jordão para encontrar-se comigo, e eu lhe jurei por Javé, dizendo: “Não vos matarei com a espada”.
9 Now therefore do not hold him guiltless, for thou are a wise man, and thou will know what thou ought to do to him, and thou shall bring his hoar head down to Sheol with blood. (Sheol h7585)
Agora, portanto, não o deixeis sem culpa, pois sois um homem sábio; e sabereis o que devíeis fazer com ele, e com sangue trareis sua cabeça cinzenta para o Sheol”. (Sheol h7585)
10 And David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
David dormiu com seus pais, e foi enterrado na cidade de David.
11 And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
Os dias em que Davi reinou sobre Israel foram quarenta anos; reinou sete anos em Hebron, e reinou trinta e três anos em Jerusalém.
12 And Solomon sat upon the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was established greatly.
Salomão sentou-se no trono de David, seu pai; e seu reino foi firmemente estabelecido.
13 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Do thou come peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.
Então Adonijah, filho de Haggith, veio para Betsabá, a mãe de Salomão. Ela disse: “Você vem em paz?” Ele disse: “pacificamente.
14 He said moreover, I have something to say to thee. And she said, Say on.
Ele disse ainda: “Tenho algo a lhe dizer”. Ela disse: “Diga”.
15 And he said, Thou know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign. However the kingdom is turned about, and has become my brother's, for it was his from Jehovah.
Ele disse: “Vocês sabem que o reino era meu e que todo Israel colocou seu rosto sobre mim, que eu deveria reinar. No entanto, o reino está virado, e se tornou de meu irmão; pois era dele desde Yahweh.
16 And now I ask one petition of thee; do not deny me. And she said to him, Say on.
Agora eu peço uma petição a vocês. Não me negue”. Ela disse a ele: “Diga”.
17 And he said, Speak, I pray thee, to Solomon the king (for he will not say no thee), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.
Ele disse: “Por favor, fale com o rei Salomão (pois ele não lhe dirá 'não'), que ele me dê Abishag, o Shunammite, como esposa”.
18 And Bathsheba said, Well, I will speak for thee to the king.
Bathsheba disse: “Tudo bem. Falarei por você ao rei”.
19 Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother. And she sat on his right hand.
Betsabá foi, portanto, ao rei Salomão, para falar com ele por Adonias. O rei se levantou para encontrá-la e se inclinou diante dela, sentou-se em seu trono e fez com que fosse estabelecido um trono para a mãe do rei; e ela se sentou à sua direita.
20 Then she said, I ask one small petition of thee; do not deny me. And the king said to her, Ask on, my mother, for I will not deny thee.
Então ela disse: “Peço-vos uma pequena petição; não me negueis”. O rei lhe disse: “Pede, minha mãe, pois não te negarei”.
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.
She disse: “Deixe Abishag, o Shunammite, ser dado a Adonijah, seu irmão como esposa”.
22 And king Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also, for he is my elder brother, even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
O rei Salomão respondeu a sua mãe: “Por que você pergunta a Abishag, a Shunammite, por Adonias? Pergunte por ele também o reino, pois ele é meu irmão mais velho; até mesmo por ele, e por Abiatar, o sacerdote, e por Joab, o filho de Zeruia”.
23 Then king Solomon swore by Jehovah, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
Então o rei Salomão jurou por Javé, dizendo: “Deus me faça isso, e mais ainda, se Adonias não pronunciou esta palavra contra sua própria vida”.
24 Now therefore as Jehovah lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
Portanto, agora que Javé vive, que me estabeleceu e me colocou no trono de meu pai Davi, e que me fez uma casa como prometeu, certamente Adonias será morto hoje”.
25 And king Solomon sent by Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he fell upon him so that he died.
O rei Salomão enviou Benaiah, o filho de Jehoiada; e ele caiu sobre ele, de modo que ele morreu.
26 And the king said to Abiathar the priest, Get thee to Anathoth, to thine own fields, for thou are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou bore the ark of the lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou were afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.
Para Abiathar o sacerdote o rei disse: “Ide a Anathoth, aos vossos próprios campos, pois sois dignos da morte”. Mas não te matarei neste momento, porque carregaste a arca do Senhor Javé diante de meu pai Davi, e porque foste afligido em tudo aquilo em que meu pai foi afligido”.
27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, that he might fulfill the word of Jehovah, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
Então Salomão expulsou Abiathar de ser sacerdote para Yahweh, para que ele pudesse cumprir a palavra de Yahweh que ele falou a respeito da casa de Eli em Shiloh.
28 And the news came to Joab, for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he did not turn after Absalom. And Joab fled to the tent of Jehovah, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
Esta notícia chegou a Joab; pois Joab havia seguido Adonijah, embora não tenha seguido Absalom. Joab fugiu para a Tenda de Yahweh, e se agarrou aos chifres do altar.
29 And it was told king Solomon, Joab has fled to the tent of Jehovah, and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.
Foi dito ao rei Salomão: “Joab fugiu para a Tenda de Yahweh; e eis que ele está junto ao altar”. Então Salomão enviou Benaia, o filho de Jeoiada, dizendo: “Vai, cai sobre ele”.
30 And Benaiah came to the tent of Jehovah, and said to him, Thus says the king, Come forth. And he said, No, but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.
Benaiah veio à Tenda de Yahweh, e disse-lhe: “O rei diz: 'Saia! Ele disse: “Não; mas eu vou morrer aqui”. Benaiah trouxe a palavra do rei novamente, dizendo: “Foi isto que Joab disse, e foi assim que ele me respondeu”.
31 And the king said to him, Do as he has said, and fall upon him, and bury him, that thou may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father's house.
O rei disse-lhe: “Fazei como ele disse, e caí sobre ele, e enterrai-o, para que possais tirar o sangue, que Joab derramou sem causa, de mim e da casa de meu pai”.
32 And Jehovah will return his blood upon his own head, because he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David did not know it, namely, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.
Yahweh devolverá seu sangue sobre sua própria cabeça, porque ele caiu sobre dois homens mais justos e melhores que ele, e os matou com a espada, e meu pai David não sabia disso: Abner o filho de Ner, capitão do exército de Israel, e Amasa o filho de Jether, capitão do exército de Judá.
33 So shall their blood return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed forever. But to David, and to his seed, and to his house, and to his throne, there shall be peace forever from Jehovah.
Assim, seu sangue voltará para sempre sobre a cabeça de Joab e sobre a cabeça de sua prole. Mas para David, para sua descendência, para sua casa e para seu trono, haverá paz para sempre de Javé”.
34 Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and killed him. And he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
Então Benaiah, filho de Jehoiada, subiu, caiu sobre ele e o matou; e ele foi enterrado em sua própria casa no deserto.
35 And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the army. And the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.
O rei colocou Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, em seu lugar sobre o exército; e o rei colocou Zadoque, o sacerdote, no lugar de Abiatar.
36 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, Build for thee a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth from there anywhere.
O rei enviou e chamou por Shimei, e lhe disse: “Construa você mesmo uma casa em Jerusalém, e viva lá, e não vá a nenhum outro lugar”.
37 For on the day thou go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, know thou for certain that thou shall surely die; thy blood shall be upon thine own head.
Pois no dia em que você sair e passar por cima do riacho Kidron, saiba com certeza que morrerá. Seu sangue estará em sua própria cabeça”.
38 And Shimei said to the king, The saying is good. As my lord the king has said, so will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
Shimei disse ao rei: “O que você diz é bom”. Como disse meu senhor, o rei, assim fará seu servo”. Shimei viveu muitos dias em Jerusalém.
39 And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away to Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants are in Gath.
Ao final de três anos, dois dos escravos de Shimei fugiram para Achish, filho de Maacah, rei de Gate. Eles disseram a Shimei, dizendo: “Eis que seus escravos estão em Gate”.
40 And Shimei arose, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants. And Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.
Shimei levantou-se, selou seu burro e foi a Gate para Achish em busca de seus escravos; e Shimei foi e trouxe seus escravos de Gate.
41 And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again.
Foi dito a Salomão que Simei tinha ido de Jerusalém para Gate, e que tinha voltado novamente.
42 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, Did I not adjure thee by Jehovah, and protest to thee, saying, Know for certain, that on the day thou go out, and walk abroad anywhere, thou shall surely die? And thou said to me, The saying that I have heard is good.
O rei enviou e chamou Shimei, e disse-lhe: “Não te conjurei por Javé e te avisei, dizendo: 'Sabe com certeza que no dia em que sair e andar em qualquer outro lugar, certamente morrerá...' Disseste-me: 'O ditado que ouvi é bom'.
43 Why then have thou not kept the oath of Jehovah, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?
Por que então você não cumpriu o juramento de Yahweh e o mandamento com o qual eu o instruí”?
44 The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou know all the iniquity which thy heart is privy to, what thou did to David my father. Therefore Jehovah shall return thy iniquity upon thine own head.
Além disso, o rei disse a Shimei: “Você sabe em seu coração toda a maldade que fez a David, meu pai. Portanto, Yahweh devolverá sua maldade sobre sua própria cabeça”.
45 But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before Jehovah forever.
Mas o rei Salomão será abençoado, e o trono de Davi será estabelecido diante de Iavé para sempre”.
46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And he went out, and fell upon him so that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
Então o rei ordenou a Benaia, filho de Jeoiada; e ele saiu, e caiu sobre ele, de modo que morreu. O reino foi estabelecido nas mãos de Salomão.
