1 Kings 18
1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of Jehovah came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth.
೧ಅನೇಕ ದಿನಗಳಾದ ನಂತರ ಎಲೀಯನಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ವಾಕ್ಯವುಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಬರಗಾಲದ ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಹಾಬನನ್ನು ಕಾಣು. ನಾನು ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಮಳೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದನು.
2 And Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. And the famine was severe in Samaria.
೨ಎಲೀಯನು ಅಹಾಬನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟನು. ಆಗ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರವು ಬಹು ಘೋರವಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ,
3 And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Jehovah greatly;
೩ಅಹಾಬನು ತನ್ನ ಉಗ್ರಾಣಿಕನಾದ ಓಬದ್ಯ ಎಂಬುವನನ್ನು ಕರೇಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
4 for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifties in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
೪ಈಜೆಬೆಲಳು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಯೆಹೋವನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವನಾದ ಈ ಓಬದ್ಯನು ನೂರು ಜನರು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಐವತ್ತೈವತ್ತು ಜನರನ್ನಾಗಿ ಗವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಸಿಟ್ಟು, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
5 And Ahab said to Obadiah, Go through the land, to all the fountains of water, and to all the brooks. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the beasts.
೫ಅಹಾಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ದೇಶಸಂಚಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬುಗ್ಗೆ ಹಳ್ಳಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಸಿಕ್ಕುತ್ತದೋ ನೋಡೋಣ. ಸಿಕ್ಕುವುದಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ ಮತ್ತು ಹೇಸರಗತ್ತೆಗಳೂ ಉಳಿದಾವು, ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಗುವವು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
6 So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.
೬ಅವರು ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಎರಡು ಭಾಗ ಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಓಬದ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ತಾನೇ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
7 And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him. And he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Is it thou, my lord Elijah?
೭ಓಬದ್ಯನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಪಕ್ಕನೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾದನು. ಓಬದ್ಯನು ಅವನ ಗುರುತು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಸಾಷ್ಟಾಂಗನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿ, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯಾದ ಎಲೀಯನೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
8 And he answered him, It is I. Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
೮ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಹೌದು, ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ, ‘ಎಲೀಯನು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು” ಎಂದನು.
9 And he said, How have I sinned that thou would deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab to kill me?
೯ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಬದ್ಯನು, “ಅಹಾಬನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದೇಕೆ? ನಾನೇನು ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದೆನು?
10 As Jehovah thy God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek thee. And when they said, He is not here, he took an oath from the kingdom and nation that they did not find thee.
೧೦ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕದ ಜನಾಂಗವೂ ರಾಜ್ಯವೂ ಒಂದೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಜನಾಂಗ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳವರು ‘ಎಲೀಯನು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಅವರಿಂದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
11 And now thou say, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
೧೧ಹೀಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಎಲೀಯನು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುವುದೇನು?
12 And it will come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of Jehovah will carry thee where I know not. And so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will kill me. But I thy servant fear Jehovah from my youth.
೧೨ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದ ಬೇರೊಂದು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಒಯ್ಯುವುದು. ನಾನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಹಾಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕುವನು. ನಾನು ಬಾಲ್ಯಾರಭ್ಯ ಯೆಹೋವನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವನಲ್ಲವೇ?
13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of Jehovah, how I hid a hundred men of Jehovah's prophets by fifties in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
೧೩ಈಜೆಬೆಲಳು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯಾದ ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ನೂರು ಜನರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಐವತ್ತೈವತ್ತು ಜನರನ್ನಾಗಿ ಗವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಸಿಟ್ಟು, ಅನ್ನ ಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಾಕಿದೆನಲ್ಲವೇ.
14 And now thou say, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here, and he will kill me.
೧೪ಹೀಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಎಲೀಯನು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವೆಯಲ್ಲಾ. ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವನಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
15 And Elijah said, As Jehovah of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.
೧೫ಆಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ನಾನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅಹಾಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಗೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆನು” ಅಂದನು.
16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
೧೬ಓಬದ್ಯನು ಅಹಾಬನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಅಹಾಬನು ಎಲೀಯನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ
17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, Is it thou, thou troubler of Israel?
೧೭ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಕೂಡಲೆ, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಆಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದವನೇ, ನೀನು ಬಂದಿಯಾ?” ಅಂದನು.
18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel, but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah, and thou have followed the Baalim.
೧೮ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಆಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದವನು ನಾನಲ್ಲ. ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲಂಘಿಸಿ ಬಾಳನ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿದ ನೀನೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯವರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣರು.
19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, who eat at Jezebel's table.
೧೯ನೀನು ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೂ, ಈಜೆಬೆಲಳಿಂದ ಪೋಷಣೆ ಹೊಂದುವ ಬಾಳನ ನಾನೂರೈವತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅಶೇರ ದೇವತೆಯ ನಾನೂರು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕರ್ಮೆಲ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಯಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
20 So Ahab sent to all the sons of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to mount Carmel.
೨೦ಅಹಾಬನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದನು.
21 And Elijah came near to all the people, and said, How long do ye go limping between the two sides? If Jehovah be God, follow him, but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
೨೧ಎಲೀಯನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಎಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ಎರಡು ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿರುವಿರಿ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಆತನನ್ನೇ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿರಿ ಬಾಳನು ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನನ್ನೇ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಜನರು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಏನೂ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡದೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು.
22 Then Elijah said to the people, I, even I only, am left a prophet of Jehovah, but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
೨೨ಮತ್ತು ಎಲೀಯನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಬಾಳನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೂರೈವತ್ತು ಜನರಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks, and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under. And I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under.
೨೩ಅವರು ಎರಡು ಹೋರಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತರಲಿ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಡಿದು, ತುಂಡು ಮಾಡಿ, ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲಿಡಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಹೊತ್ತಿಸಬಾರದು. ನಾನೂ ಇನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಹೊತ್ತಿಸದೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲಿಡುವೆನು
24 And call ye on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of Jehovah. And the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
೨೪ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರು ಹೇಳಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿರಿ, ಅನಂತರ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರು ಹೇಳಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವೆನು. ಆ ಇಬ್ಬರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನು ಲಾಲಿಸಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವನೋ ಅವನೇ ದೇವರೆಂದೂ ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸೋಣ” ಅಂದನು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರು, “ಸರಿ ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಆಗಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
25 And Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first, for ye are many, and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under.
೨೫ಆಗ ಅವನು ಬಾಳನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ಮೊದಲು ನೀವೇ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರು ಹೇಳಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿರಿ. ಆದರೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಿಸಬಾರದು” ಅಂದನು.
26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped about the altar which was made.
೨೬ಅವರು ತರಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಹೋರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಬಾಳನ ಹೆಸರು ಹೇಳಿ, “ಬಾಳನೇ ನಮಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡು” ಎಂದು ಹೊತ್ತಾರೆಯಿಂದ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದವರೆಗೆ ಕೂಗಿದರೂ ಆಕಾಶವಾಣಿಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕುಣಿದಾಡಿದರೂ ಯಾರೂ ಉತ್ತರ ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is meditating, or he is gone aside, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps and must be awakened.
೨೭ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನವಾದನಂತರ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ, “ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿರಿ, ಅವನು ದೇವರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನಲ್ಲಾ. ಈಗ ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಅವನು ಧ್ಯಾನದಲ್ಲಿರಬಹುದು, ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಯಾವುದೋ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಬೇಕು. ಅದೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಿದ್ರೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನು, ಎಚ್ಚರವಾಗಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lances, till the blood gushed out upon them.
೨೮ಅವರು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಪದ್ದತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಈಟಿ ಕತ್ತಿಗಳಿಂದ ರಕ್ತಸೋರುವಷ್ಟು ಗಾಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
29 And it was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening oblation, but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
೨೯ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದಿಂದ ನೈವೇದ್ಯ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಯ ಹೊತ್ತಿನವರೆಗೂ ಪರವಶರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು. ಆದರೂ ಆಕಾಶವಾಣಿಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅವರನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
30 And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of Jehovah that was thrown down.
೩೦ಅನಂತರ ಎಲೀಯನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಯಲು ಅವರು ಬಂದರು. ಅವನು ಹಾಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob to whom the word of Jehovah came, saying, Israel shall be thy name.
೩೧ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಹೊಂದಿದ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಉತ್ಪತ್ತಿಯಾದ ಕುಲಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು,
32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of Jehovah. And he made a trench around the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
೩೨ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಂದು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ, ಅದರ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸೇರು ಬೀಜಬಿತ್ತುವಷ್ಟು ನೆಲವನ್ನು ಅಗೆಸಿ ಕಾಲುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid it on the wood. And he said, Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt offering, and on the wood.
೩೩ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿ, ಹೋರಿಯನ್ನು ವಧಿಸಿ ತುಂಡು ಮಾಡಿ ಅದರ ಮೇಲಿಟ್ಟನು. ಅನಂತರ ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ನಾಲ್ಕು ಕೊಡ ನೀರು ತಂದು ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಂಸದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಸುರಿಯಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
34 And he said, Do it the second time, and they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time, and they did it the third time.
೩೪ಅವರು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು, “ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಸಾರಿ ತನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ತಿರುಗಿ ತಂದರು. ಅವನು ಮೂರನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಅದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿಲು ಅವರು ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ತಂದು ಸುರಿದರು
35 And the water ran round about the altar, and he also filled the trench with water.
೩೫ನೀರು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ತುಂಬಿ ಹರಿಯಿತು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ಕಾಲುವೆಯನ್ನು ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದನು.
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening oblation, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou are God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
೩೬ಸಂಧ್ಯಾನೈವೇದ್ಯದ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಎಲೀಯನು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು, “ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ, ಇಸಾಕ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ದೇವರೇ, ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನೀನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುತ್ತೀ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನೂ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾಗಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿನ್ನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆನೆಂಬುದನ್ನೂ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಡು.
37 Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that thou, Jehovah, are God, and that thou have turned their heart back again.
೩೭ಕಿವಿಗೊಡು, ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡು, ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ನೀನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ದೇವರೂ! ಈ ಜನರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನೂ ನೀನೇ ಆಗಿರುತ್ತೀ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಇವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು.
38 Then the fire of Jehovah fell, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
೩೮ಕೂಡಲೇ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಬೆಂಕಿಬಿದ್ದು ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಂಸವನ್ನೂ, ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ, ಕಲ್ಲು ಮಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೂ ದಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟು ಕಾಲುವೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನೀರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೀರಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು.
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. And they said, Jehovah, he is God, Jehovah, he is God.
೩೯ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಬೋರ್ಲಬಿದ್ದು, “ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ದೇವರು! ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ದೇವರು!” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿದರು.
40 and Elijah said to them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them, and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and killed them there.
೪೦ಆಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಬಾಳನ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಲು ಅವರು ಹಿಡಿದರು. ಅವನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೀಷೋನ್ ಹಳ್ಳಕ್ಕೆ ಒಯ್ದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
41 And Elijah said to Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of abundance of rain.
೪೧ಅನಂತರ ಅವನು ಅಹಾಬನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಳೆಯ ಶಬ್ದವು ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ” ಅಂದನು.
42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel, and he bowed himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees.
೪೨ಅಹಾಬನು ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಹೋದಾಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಕರ್ಮೆಲಿನ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಮೊಣಕಾಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ತಲೆಯನ್ನಿಟ್ಟನು.
43 And he said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
೪೩ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ನೋಡು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಸೇವಕನು ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಿ ಬಂದು, “ಏನೂ ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಏಳು ಸಾರಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, a cloud rises out of the sea, as small as a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say to Ahab, Make ready thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain not stop thee.
೪೪ಏಳನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಸೇವಕನು, “ಅಂಗೈಯಷ್ಟು ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದ ಮೋಡವು ಸಮುದ್ರದಿಂದ ಏರಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಎಲೀಯನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಹಾಬನಿಗೆ, ‘ಬೇಗನೆ ರಥವನ್ನು ಹೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಳೆಯು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ತಡೆಯದಂತೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನಿಳಿದು ಹೋಗು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು” ಅಂದನು.
45 And it came to pass in a little while, that the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
೪೫ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಆಕಾಶವು ಮೋಡಗಾಳಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕಪ್ಪಾಗಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಳೆಯು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಅಹಾಬನು ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಇಜ್ರೇಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
46 And the hand of Jehovah was on Elijah, and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
೪೬ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹಸ್ತವು ಎಲೀಯನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ನಡುಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಹಾಬನ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡುತ್ತಾ ಇಜ್ರೇಲನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದನು.
