< 1 Kings 17 >
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the sojourners of Gilead, said to Ahab, As Jehovah, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
Ndipo mneneri Eliya wa ku Tisibe ku Giliyadi, anati kwa Ahabu, “Pali Yehova wamoyo, Mulungu wa Israeli, amene ndimamutumikira, sipadzakhala mame kapena mvula zaka zikubwerazi, pokhapokha ine nditanena.”
2 And the word of Jehovah came to him, saying,
Pamenepo Yehova anayankhula ndi Eliya kuti,
3 Get thee from here, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith that is before the Jordan.
“Choka kuno, upite kummawa, ukabisale mʼmbali mwa mtsinje wa Keriti, pafupi ndi Yorodani.
4 And it shall be, that thou shall drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
Uzikamwa mu mtsinjemo, ndipo ndalamula makwangwala kuti azikakudyetsa kumeneko.”
5 So he went and did according to the word of Jehovah, for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith that is before the Jordan.
Choncho Eliya anachita zomwe Yehova anamuwuza. Anapita ku mtsinje wa Keriti, pafupi ndi Yorodani, nakakhala kumeneko.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank of the brook.
Makwangwala ankabweretsera buledi ndi nyama mmawa ndi madzulo, ndipo ankamwa mu mtsinjemo.
7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up because there was no rain in the land.
Patapita masiku, mtsinjewo unaphwa chifukwa mvula sinagwe mʼdzikomo.
8 And the word of Jehovah came to him, saying,
Yehova anayankhula naye kuti,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain thee.
“Nyamuka tsopano, pita ku Zarefati ku Sidoni ndipo ukakhale kumeneko. Ndalamula mkazi wamasiye wa kumeneko kuti azikakudyetsa.”
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel that I may drink.
Choncho iye ananyamuka napita ku Zarefati. Atafika pa chipata cha mzindawo, taonani mkazi wamasiye amatola nkhuni. Anamuyitana ndi kumuwuza kuti, “Patseni madzi pangʼono mʼchikho kuti ndimwe.”
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand.
Mayi wamasiye uja ankapita kukatunga madzi, Eliya anamuyitananso namuwuza kuti, “Chonde munditengerekonso buledi.”
12 And she said, As Jehovah thy God lives, I do not have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse. And, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son that we may eat it, and die.
Iye anayankha kuti “Pali Yehova Mulungu wanu wamoyo, ine ndilibe chakudya china chilichonse, koma kaufa pangʼono mʼmbiya ndi mafuta pangʼono mʼbotolo. Ine ndikutola tinkhuni tochepa kuti ndipite nato ku nyumba ndi kukaphika chakudya changa ndi cha mwana wanga, kuti tikadye kenaka tife.”
13 And Elijah said to her, Fear not, go and do as thou have said. But make me of it a little cake first, and bring it forth to me, and afterward make for thee and for thy son.
Eliya anati kwa iye, “Musachite mantha. Pitani mukachite monga mwaneneramo. Koma poyamba mundipangire kachakudya pangʼono kuchokera pa ufa umene muli nawo ndi kubwera nako kwa ine, ndipo kenaka mukaphike choti mudye inuyo ndi mwana wanuyo.
14 For thus says Jehovah, the God of Israel, The jar of meal shall not be used up, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that Jehovah sends rain upon the earth.
Pakuti Yehova Mulungu wa Israeli akuti, ‘Ufa umene uli mʼmbiyamo sudzatha ndipo mafuta amene ali mʼbotolomo sadzathanso mpaka tsiku limene Yehova adzagwetse mvula pa dziko lapansi.’”
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah. And she, and he, and her house, ate many days.
Mayi wamasiyeyo anapita nakachita zimene Eliya anamuwuza. Choncho panali chakudya cha Eliya, mayiyo pamodzi ndi banja lake lonse chimene anadya masiku ambiri.
16 The jar of meal was not used up, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke by Elijah.
Pakuti ufa umene unali mʼmbiya sunathe ndiponso mafuta amene anali mʼbotolo sanathe, monga momwe ananenera Yehova kudzera mwa Eliya.
17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick, and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
Tsiku lina mwana wake wa mkazi wamasiye uja, mwini nyumbayo, anadwala. Matenda ananka nakulirakulirabe, ndipo kenaka analeka kupuma.
18 And she said to Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Thou have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to kill my son!
Mayiyo anati kwa Eliya, “Kodi ndakulakwirani chiyani, inu munthu wa Mulungu? Kodi munabwera kuno kudzandikumbutsa tchimo langa ndi kudzandiphera mwana wanga?”
19 And he said to her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the chamber where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
Eliya anayankha kuti, “Patseni mwana wanuyo.” Iye anatenga mwanayo mʼmanja mwa mayiyo napita naye mʼchipinda chapamwamba, kumene Eliyayo amagona, namugoneka pa bedi lake.
20 And he cried to Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah my God, have thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn by slaying her son?
Kenaka Eliya anafuwula kwa Yehova nati, “Inu Yehova Mulungu wanga, kodi mwabweretsanso choyipa chotere pa mkazi wamasiye amene ine ndikukhala naye, pakuchititsa kuti mwana wake afe?”
21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried to Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.
Pamenepo Eliya anakumbatira mwanayo katatu ndi kufuwula kwa Yehova kuti, “Inu Yehova Mulungu wanga, mubwezereni mwanayu moyo wake!”
22 And Jehovah hearkened to the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
Yehova anamva kufuwula kwa Eliya, ndipo moyo wa mwanayo unabwerera mwa iye ndipo anatsitsimuka.
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, See, thy son lives.
Eliya ananyamula mwanayo natsika naye kuchoka mʼchipinda chapamwamba chija nalowa naye mʼnyumba. Anamupereka kwa amayi ake ndipo anati, “Taonani, mwana wanu ali ndi moyo!”
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now I know that thou are a man of God, and that the word of Jehovah in thy mouth is truth.
Pamenepo mayiyo anati kwa Eliya, “Tsopano ndadziwa kuti ndinu munthu wa Mulungu ndipo mawu a Yehova amene mumayankhula ndi owona.”
