1 Chronicles 25

1 Moreover David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals. And the number of those who did the work according to their service was:

Igitur David, et magistratus exercitus segregaverunt in ministerium filios Asaph, et Heman, et Idithun: qui prophetarent in citharis, et psalteriis, et cymbalis secundum numerum suum dedicato sibi officio servientes.

2 of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.

De filiis Asaph: Zachur, et Ioseph, et Nathania, et Asarela, filii Asaph: sub manu Asaph prophetantes iuxta regem.

3 Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Jehovah.

Porro Idithun: filii Idithun, Godolias, Sori, Ieseias, et Hasabias, et Mathathias, sex, sub manu patris sui Idithun, qui in cithara prophetabat super confitentes et laudantes Dominum.

4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth.

Heman quoque: filii Heman, Bocciau, Mathaniau, Oziel, Subuel, et Ierimoth, Hananias, Hanani, Eliatha, Geddelthi, et Romemthiezer, et Iesbacassa, Mellothi, Othir, Mahazioth:

5 All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

omnes isti filii Heman Videntes regis in sermonibus Dei, ut exaltaret cornu: deditque Deus Heman filios quattuordecim, et filias tres.

6 All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of Jehovah, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

Universi sub manu patris sui ad cantandum in templo Domini distributi erant, in cymbalis, et psalteriis, et citharis, in ministeria domus Domini iuxta regem: Asaph videlicet, et Idithun, et Heman.

7 And the number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to Jehovah, even all who were skilful, was two hundred eighty-eight.

Fuit autem numerus eorum cum fratribus suis, qui erudiebant canticum Domini, cuncti doctores, ducenti octogintaocto.

8 And they cast lots for their offices, all alike, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.

Miseruntque sortes per vices suas, ex aequo tam maior quam minor, doctus pariter et indoctus.

9 Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph, the second to Gedaliah (he and his brothers and sons were twelve),

Egressaque est sors prima Ioseph, qui erat de Asaph. Secunda Godoliae, ipsi et filiis eius, et fratribus eius duodecim.

10 the third to Zaccur, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Tertia Zachur, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

11 the fourth to Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Quarta Isari, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

12 the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Quinta Nathaniae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

13 the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Sexta Bocciau, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

14 the seventh to Jesharelah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Septima Isreela, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

15 the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Octava Iesaiae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

16 the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Nona Mathaniae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

17 the tenth to Shimei, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Decima Semeiae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

18 the eleventh to Azarel, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Undecima Azareel, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

19 the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Duodecima Hasabiae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

20 for the thirteenth, Shubael, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Tertiadecima Subael, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

21 for the fourteenth, Mattithiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Quartadecima Mathathiae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

22 for the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Quintadecima Ierimoth, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

23 for the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Sextadecima Hananiae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

24 for the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Septimadecima Iesbacassae, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

25 for the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Octavadecima Hanani, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

26 for the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Nonadecima Mellothi, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

27 for the twentieth to Eliathah, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Vigesima Eliatha, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

28 for the twenty-first to Hothir, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Vigesimaprima Othir, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

29 for the twenty-second to Giddalti, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Vigesimasecunda Geddelthi, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

30 for the twenty-third to Mahazioth, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

Vigesimatertia Mahazioth, filiis et fratribus eius duodecim.

31 for the twenty-fourth to Romamtiezer, his sons and his brothers, twelve.
