Psalmen 115
1 Niet ons, o HEERE! niet ons, maar Uw Naam geef eer, om Uwer goedertierenheid, om Uwer waarheid wil.
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to thy name give glory, because of thy mercy and thy truth;
2 Waarom zouden de heidenen zeggen: Waar is nu hun God?
lest at any time the nations should say, Where is their God?
3 Onze God is toch in den hemel, Hij doet al wat Hem behaagt.
But our God has done in heaven and on earth, whatsoever he has pleased.
4 Hunlieder afgoden zijn zilver en goud, het werk van des mensen handen;
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the works of men's hands.
5 Zij hebben een mond, maar spreken niet; zij hebben ogen, maar zien niet;
They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see:
6 Oren hebben zij, maar horen niet; zij hebben een neus, maar zij rieken niet;
they have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell;
7 Hun handen hebben zij, maar tasten niet; hun voeten, maar gaan niet; zij geven geen geluid door hun keel.
they have hands, but they cannot handle; they have feet, but they cannot walk: they cannot speak through their throat.
8 Dat die hen maken hun gelijk worden, en al wie op hen vertrouwt.
Let those that make them become like to them, and all who trust in them.
9 Israel! vertrouw gij op den HEERE; Hij is hun Hulp en hun Schild.
The house of Israel trusts in the Lord: he is their helper and defender.
10 Gij huis van Aaron! vertrouw op den HEERE; Hij is hun Hulp en hun Schild.
The house of Aaron trusts in the Lord: he is their helper and defender.
11 Gijlieden, die den HEERE vreest! vertrouwt op den HEERE; Hij is hun Hulp en hun Schild.
They that fear the Lord trust in the Lord: he is their helper and defender.
12 De HEERE is onzer gedachtig geweest, Hij zal zegenen; Hij zal het huis van Israel zegenen, Hij zal het huis van Aaron zegenen.
The Lord has remembered us, and blessed us: he has blessed the house of Israel, he has blessed the house of Aaron.
13 Hij zal zegenen, die den HEERE vrezen, de kleinen met de groten.
He has blessed them that fear the Lord, both small and great.
14 De HEERE zal den zegen over ulieden vermeerderen, over ulieden en over uw kinderen.
The Lord add [blessings] to you and to your children.
15 Gijlieden zijt den HEERE gezegend, Die den hemel en de aarde gemaakt heeft.
Blessed are ye of the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth.
16 Aangaande den hemel, de hemel is des HEEREN; maar de aarde heeft Hij de mensenkinderen gegeven.
The heaven of heavens [belongs] to the Lord: but he has given the earth to the sons of men.
17 De doden zullen den HEERE niet prijzen, noch die in de stilte nedergedaald zijn.
The dead shall not praise thee, O Lord, nor any that go down to Hades.
18 Maar wij zullen den HEERE loven van nu aan tot in der eeuwigheid. Hallelujah!
But we, the living, will bless the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.
