Psalmen 66
1 Een lied, een psalm, voor den opperzangmeester. Juicht Gode, gij ganse aarde!
“To the chief musician, a song or psalm.” Shout joyfully unto God, all ye lands:
2 Psalmzingt de eer Zijns Naams; geeft eer Zijn lof.
Sing forth the glory of his name; make glorious his praise.
3 Zegt tot God: Hoe vreselijk zijt Gij in Uw werken! Om de grootheid Uwer sterkte zullen zich Uw vijanden geveinsdelijk aan U onderwerpen.
Say unto God, How fear-inspiring is every one of thy works! through the greatness of thy strength will thy enemies yield feigned obedience unto thee.
4 De ganse aarde aanbidde U, en psalmzinge U; zij psalmzinge Uw Naam. (Sela)
All the lands shall bow themselves down unto thee, and shall sing praises unto thee; they shall sing praises to thy name. (Selah)
5 Komt en ziet Gods daden; Hij is vreselijk van werking aan de mensenkinderen.
Come and see the deeds of God: fear-inspiring is his doing toward the children of men.
6 Hij heeft de zee veranderd in het droge; zij zijn te voet doorgegaan door de rivier; daar hebben wij ons in Hem verblijd.
He changed the sea into dry land: through the river they went on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
7 Hij heerst eeuwiglijk met Zijn macht; Zijn ogen houden wacht over de heidenen; laat de afvalligen niet verhoogd worden. (Sela)
He ruleth by his might for ever; his eyes look upon the nations: the rebellious—these shall not be exalted. (Selah)
8 Looft, gij volken! onzen God; en laat horen de stem Zijns roems.
Bless, O ye people, our God, and cause the voice of his praise to be heard:
9 Die onze zielen in het leven stelt, en niet toelaat, dat onze voet wankele.
Who hath appointed our soul to life, and hath not suffered our foot to slip.
10 Want Gij hebt ons beproefd, o God! Gij hebt ons gelouterd, gelijk men het zilver loutert;
For thou hast proved us, O God: thou hast refined us, as silver is refined.
11 Gij hadt ons in het net gebracht; Gij hadt een engen band om onze lenden gelegd;
Thou hast brought us into the net; thou hast placed fetters upon our loins.
12 Gij hadt den mens op ons hoofd doen rijden; wij waren in het vuur en in het water gekomen; maar Gij hebt ons uitgevoerd in een overvloeiende verversing.
Thou hast caused men to ride on our head: we entered into fire and into water; but thou broughtest us out to [the enjoyment] of overflowing plenty. a
13 Ik zal met brandofferen in Uw huis gaan; ik zal U mijn geloften betalen,
I will enter thy house with burnt-offerings: I will pay unto thee my vows,
14 Die mijn lippen hebben geuit, en mijn mond heeft uitgesproken, als mij bange was.
Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in distress.
15 Brandofferen van mergbeesten zal ik U offeren, met rookwerk van rammen; ik zal runderen met bokken bereiden. (Sela)
Burnt-offerings of fatlings will I offer up unto thee, with the incense of rams; I will prepare steers with he-goats. (Selah)
16 Komt, hoort toe, o allen gij, die God vreest, en ik zal vertellen, wat Hij aan mijn ziel gedaan heeft.
Come, hear, and I will relate, all ye that fear God, what he hath done for my soul.
17 Ik riep tot Hem met mijn mond, en Hij werd verhoogd onder mijn tong.
Unto him I cried with my mouth, and a song of extolling was on my tongue.
18 Had ik naar ongerechtigheid met mijn hart gezien, de Heere zou niet gehoord hebben.
If I had looked on wickedness with my heart, the Lord would not have heard;
19 Maar zeker, God heeft gehoord; Hij heeft gemerkt op de stem mijns gebeds.
But verily God hath heard; he hath listened to the voice of my prayer.
20 Geloofd zij God, Die mijn gebed niet heeft afgewend, noch Zijn goedertierenheid van mij.
Blessed be God, who hath not removed my prayer [from him], nor his kindness from me.
