Psalmen 26

1 Een psalm van David! Doe mij recht, HEERE! want ik wandel in mijn oprechtigheid; en ik vertrouw op den HEERE, ik zal niet wankelen.

Judge me, Adonai, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in Adonai without wavering.

2 Proef mij, HEERE, en verzoek mij; toets mijn nieren en mijn hart.

Examine me, Adonai, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind.

3 Want Uw goedertierenheid is voor mijn ogen, en ik wandel in Uw waarheid.

For your cheshed ·loving-kindness· is before my eyes. I have walked in your truth.

4 Ik zit niet bij ijdele lieden, en met bedekte lieden ga ik niet om.

I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites.

5 Ik haat de vergadering der boosdoeners, en bij de goddelozen zit ik niet.

I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

6 Ik was mijn handen in onschuld, en ik ga rondom uw altaar, o HEERE!

I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, Adonai;

7 Om te doen horen de stem des lofs, en om te vertellen al Uw wonderen.

that I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, and tell of all your wondrous deeds.

8 HEERE! ik heb lief de woning van Uw huis, en de plaats des tabernakels Uwer eer.

Adonai, I 'ahav ·affectionately love· the habitation of your house, the place where your kavod ·weighty glory· dwells.

9 Raap mijn ziel niet weg met de zondaren, noch mijn leven met de mannen des bloeds;

Don’t gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men;

10 In welker handen schandelijk bedrijf is, en welker rechterhand vol geschenken is.

in whose hands is wickedness, their right hand is full of bribes.

11 Maar ik wandel in mijn oprechtigheid, verlos mij dan en wees mij genadig.

But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me, and be merciful to me.

12 Mijn voet staat op effen baan; ik zal den HEERE loven in de vergaderingen.

My foot stands in an even place. In the congregations I will bless Adonai.
