Jeremia 10
1 Hoort het woord, dat de HEERE tot ulieden spreekt, o huis Israels!
Hear the word which he has spoken Yahweh to you O house of Israel.
2 Zo zegt de HEERE: Leert den weg der heidenen niet, en ontzet u niet voor de tekenen des hemels, dewijl zich de heidenen voor dezelve ontzetten.
Thus - he says Yahweh [the] way of the nations may not you learn and from [the] signs of the heavens may not you be dismayed for they are dismayed the nations from them.
3 Want de inzettingen der volken zijn ijdelheid; want het is hout, dat men uit het woud gehouwen heeft, een werk van des werkmeesters handen met de bijl.
For [the] customs of the peoples [is] futility it for a tree from a forest someone has cut down it [the] work of [the] hands of a craftsman with tool.
4 Men pronkt het op met zilver en met goud; zij hechten ze met nagelen en met hameren, opdat het niet waggele.
With silver and with gold he beautifies it with nails and with hammers they make strong them and not it will wobble.
5 Zij zijn gelijk een palmboom van dicht werk, maar kunnen niet spreken; zij moeten gedragen worden, want zij kunnen niet gaan; vreest niet voor hen, want zij kunnen geen kwaad doen, ook is er geen goeddoen bij hen.
[are] like A scarecrow of a cucumber field they and not they speak certainly they are carried for not they walk may not you be afraid from them for not they do harm and also [is] doing good there not with them.
6 Omdat niemand U gelijk is, o HEERE! zo zijt Gij groot, en groot is Uw Naam in mogendheid.
From there not [is] like you O Yahweh [are] great you and [is] great name your in strength.
7 Wie zou U niet vrezen, Gij Koning der heidenen? Want het komt U toe; omdat toch onder alle wijzen der heidenen, en in hun ganse koninkrijk, niemand U gelijk is.
Who? not will he fear you O king of the nations for for you it is befitting that among all [the] wise [people] of the nations and among all kingdom their from there not [is] like you.
8 In een ding zijn zij toch onvernuftig en zot: een hout is een onderwijs der ijdelheden.
And in one they are stupid and they may be foolish [the] correction of futilities [is] wood it.
9 Uitgerekt zilver wordt van Tarsis gebracht, en goud van Ufaz, tot een werk des werkmeesters en van de handen des goudsmids; hemelsblauw en purper is hun kleding, een werk der wijzen zijn zij al te zamen.
Silver beaten from Tarshish it is brought and gold from Uphaz [the] work of a craftsman and [the] hands of a metalsmith [is] violet stuff and purple clothing their [are the] work of skillful [people] all of them.
10 Maar de HEERE God is de Waarheid, Hij is de levende God, en een eeuwig Koning; van Zijn verbolgenheid beeft de aarde, en de heidenen kunnen Zijn gramschap niet verdragen.
And Yahweh [is] God truth he [is] God living and king of perpetuity from wrath his it shakes the earth and not they will endure nations indignation his.
11 (Aldus zult gijlieden tot hen zeggen: De goden, die den hemel en de aarde niet gemaakt hebben, zullen vergaan van de aarde, en van onder dezen hemel.)
Like this you will say to them gods the who heavens the and earth the not they made may they perish from earth the and from under heavens the these.
12 Die de aarde gemaakt heeft door Zijn kracht, Die de wereld bereid heeft door Zijn wijsheid, en den hemel uitgebreid door Zijn verstand.
[he] made [the] earth By power his [he] established [the] world by wisdom his and by understanding his he stretched out [the] heavens.
13 Als Hij Zijn stem geeft, zo is er een gedruis van wateren in den hemel, en Hij doet de dampen opklimmen van het einde der aarde; Hij maakt de bliksemen met den regen, en doet den wind voortkomen uit Zijn schatkameren.
To [the] sound of giving forth he a tumult of waters in the heavens and he made come up clouds from [the] end of (the earth *Q(K)*) lightning for the rain he makes and he brought out [the] wind from storehouses his.
14 Een ieder mens is onvernuftig geworden, zodat hij geen wetenschap heeft, een ieder goudsmid is beschaamd van het gesneden beeld; want zijn gegoten beeld is leugen; en er is geen geest in hen.
He is stupid every person from knowledge he has been put to shame every metalsmith from [the] idol for [is] deception molten image his and not breath [is] in them.
15 Ijdelheid zijn zij, een werk van verleidingen; ten tijde hunner bezoeking zullen zij vergaan.
[are] futility They a work of mockery at [the] time of punishment their they will perish.
16 Jakobs deel is niet gelijk die, want Hij is de Formeerder van alles, en Israel is de roede Zijner erfenis; HEERE der heirscharen is Zijn Naam.
Not [is] like these [the] portion of Jacob for [is [the] one who] formed everything he and Israel [is] [the] tribe of inheritance his [is] Yahweh of hosts name his.
17 Raap uw kramerij weg uit het land, gij inwoneres der vesting!
Gather up from [the] ground bundle your (O [you who] dwell *Q(K)*) in the siege.
18 Want zo zegt de HEERE: Ziet, Ik zal de inwoners des lands op ditmaal wegslingeren, en zal ze benauwen, opdat zij het vinden.
For thus he says Yahweh here I [am] about to hurl forth [the] inhabitants of the land at the time this and I will cause distress to them so that they may find.
19 O, wee mij over mijn breuk! mijn plage is smartelijk; en ik had gezegd: Dit is immers een krankheid, die ik wel dragen zal!
Woe! to me on fracture my [is] severe wound my and I I said surely this [is] a sickness and I will endure it.
20 Mijn tent is verstoord, en al mijn zelen zijn verscheurd; mijn kinderen zijn van mij uitgegaan, en zij zijn er niet; er is niemand meer, die mijn tent uitspant, en mijn gordijnen opricht.
Tent my it has been devastated and all tent cords my they have been snapped children my they have gone out from me and there not [are] they there not [is one who] pitches again tent my and [one who] raises tent curtains my.
21 Want de herders zijn onvernuftig geworden, en hebben den HEERE niet gezocht; daarom hebben zij niet verstandiglijk gehandeld, en hun ganse weide is verstrooid.
For they have behaved stupidly the shepherds and Yahweh not they have sought there-fore not they have prospered and all flock their it has been scattered.
22 Ziet, er komt een stem des geruchts, en een groot beven uit het land van het noorden; dat men de steden van Juda zal stellen tot een verwoesting, een woning der draken.
[the] sound of A report there! [it is] coming and a din great from a land of [the] north to make [the] cities of Judah a desolation a habitation of jackals.
23 Ik weet, o HEERE! dat bij den mens zijn weg niet is; het is niet bij een man, die wandelt, dat hij zijn gang richte.
I know O Yahweh that not [belongs] to person way his not [belongs] to a person [who] walks to direct step[s] his.
24 Kastijd mij, HEERE! doch met mate; niet in Uw toorn, opdat Gij mij niet te niet maakt.
Correct me O Yahweh only in justice may not [it be] in anger your lest you should diminish me.
25 Stort Uw grimmigheid uit over de heidenen, die U niet kennen, en over de geslachten, die Uw Naam niet aanroepen; want zij hebben Jakob opgegeten, ja, zij hebben hem opgegeten, en hem verteerd, en zijn woning verwoest.
Pour out rage your on the nations which not they have known you and on clans which on name your not they have called for they have consumed Jacob and they have consumed him and they have made an end of him and habitation his they have devastated.
