Genesis 39

1 Jozef nu werd naar Egypte afgevoerd; en Potifar, een hoveling van Farao, een overste der trawanten, een Egyptisch man, kocht hem uit de hand der Ismaelieten, die hem derwaarts afgevoerd hadden.

And Joseph he had been brought down Egypt towards and he bought him Potiphar [the] official of Pharaoh [the] commander of the bodyguards a man an Egyptian from [the] hand of the Ishmaelites who they had brought down him there towards.

2 En de HEERE was met Jozef, zodat hij een voorspoedig man was; en hij was in het huis van zijn heer, den Egyptenaar.

And he was Yahweh with Joseph and he was a man successful and he was in [the] house of master his the Egyptian.

3 Als nu zijn heer zag, dat de HEERE met hem was, en dat de HEERE al wat hij deed, door zijn hand voorspoedig maakte;

And he saw master his that Yahweh [was] with him and all that he [was] doing Yahweh [was] making successful in hand his.

4 Zo vond Jozef genade in zijn ogen, en diende hem; en hij stelde hem over zijn huis; en al wat hij had, gaf hij in zijn hand.

And he found Joseph favor in view his and he served him and he appointed him over household his and all [that] there [belonged] to him he gave in hand his.

5 En het geschiedde van toen af, dat hij hem over zijn huis, en over al wat het zijne was, gesteld had, dat de HEERE des Egyptenaars huis zegende, om Jozefs wil; ja, de zegen des HEEREN was in alles, wat hij had, in het huis en in het veld.

And it was from then he appointed him in household his and over all that there [belonged] to him and he blessed Yahweh [the] household of the Egyptian on account of Joseph and it was [the] blessing of Yahweh on all that there [belonged] to him in the house and in the field.

6 En hij liet alles, wat hij had, in Jozefs hand, zodat hij met hem van geen ding kennis had, behalve van het brood, dat hij at. En Jozef was schoon van gedaante, en schoon van aangezicht.

And he left all that [belonged] to him in [the] hand of Joseph and not he knew with him anything that except the food which he [was] eating and he was Joseph handsome of form and handsome of appearance.

7 En het geschiedde na deze dingen, dat de huisvrouw zijns heren haar ogen op Jozef wierp; en zij zeide: lig bij mij!

And it was after the things these and she lifted up [the] wife of master his eyes her to Joseph and she said lie! with me.

8 Maar hij weigerde het, en zeide tot de huisvrouw zijns heren: Zie, mijn heer heeft geen kennis met mij, wat er in het huis is; en al wat hij heeft, dat heeft hij in mijn hand gegeven.

And he refused - and he said to [the] wife of master his here! lord my not he knows with me what? [is] in the house and all that there [belongs] to him he has given in hand my.

9 Niemand is groter in dit huis dan ik, en hij heeft voor mij niets onthouden, dan u, daarin dat gij zijn huisvrouw zijt; hoe zoude ik dan dit een zo groot kwaad doen, en zondigen tegen God!

Not [is] he great in the household this more than me and not he has withheld from me anything that except you in that you [are] wife his and how? will I do the evil great this and I will sin to God.

10 En het geschiedde, als zij Jozef dag op dag aansprak, en hij naar haar niet hoorde, om bij haar te liggen, en bij haar te zijn;

And it was when spoke she to Joseph day - day and not he listened to her to lie beside her to be with her.

11 Zo gebeurde het op zulk een dag, dat hij in het huis kwam, om zijn werk te doen; en niemand van de lieden des huizes was daar binnenshuis.

And it was when the day this and he went the house towards to do work his and not anyone from [the] men of the house [was] there in the house.

12 En zij greep hem bij zijn kleed, zeggende: Lig bij mij! En hij liet zijn kleed in haar hand, en vluchtte, en ging uit naar buiten.

And she seized him by clothing his saying lie! with me and he left clothing his in hand her and he fled and he went out the outside towards.

13 En het geschiedde, als zij zag, dat hij zijn kleed in haar hand gelaten had, en naar buiten gevlucht was;

And it was when saw she that he had left clothing his in hand her and he had fled the outside towards.

14 Zo riep zij de lieden van haar huis, en sprak tot hen, zeggende: Ziet, hij heeft ons den Hebreeuwsen man ingebracht, om met ons te spotten; hij is tot mij gekomen, om bij mij te liggen, en ik heb geroepen met luider stem;

And she called out to [the] men of household her and she said to them saying see he has brought to us a man a Hebrew to mock us he came to me to lie with me and I called out with a voice great.

15 En het geschiedde, als hij hoorde, dat ik mijn stem verhief, en riep, zo verliet hij zijn kleed bij mij, en vluchtte, en ging uit naar buiten.

And it was when heard he that I raised voice my and I called out and he left clothing his beside me and he fled and he went out the outside towards.

16 En zij leide zijn kleed bij zich, totdat zijn heer in zijn huis kwam.

And she placed clothing his beside her until came master his to house his.

17 Toen sprak zij tot hem naar diezelfde woorden, zeggende: De Hebreeuwse knecht, dien gij ons hebt ingebracht, is tot mij gekomen, om met mij te spotten.

And she spoke to him according to the words these saying he came to me the servant the Hebrew whom you brought to us to mock me.

18 En het is geschied, als ik mijn stem verhief, en riep, dat hij zijn kleed bij mij liet, en vluchtte naar buiten.

And it was when raised I voice my and I called out and he left clothing his beside me and he fled the outside towards.

19 En het geschiedde, als zijn heer de woorden zijner huisvrouw hoorde, die zij tot hem sprak, zeggende: Naar deze zelfde woorden heeft mij uw knecht gedaan, zo ontstak zijn toorn.

And it was when heard master his [the] words of wife his which she spoke to him saying according to the things these he did to me servant your and it burned anger his.

20 En Jozefs heer nam hem, en leverde hem in het gevangenhuis, ter plaatse, waar des konings gevangenen gevangen waren; alzo was hij daar in het gevangenhuis.

And he took [the] master of Joseph him and he put him into [the] house of the prison [the] place where ([the] prisoners of *Q(K)*) the king [were] imprisoned and he was there in [the] house of the prison.

21 Doch de HEERE was met Jozef, en wende Zijn goedertierenheid tot hem; en gaf hem genade in de ogen van den overste van het gevangenhuis.

And he was Yahweh with Joseph and he extended to him covenant loyalty and he gave favor his in [the] eyes of [the] commander of [the] house of the prison.

22 En de overste van het gevangenhuis gaf al de gevangenen, die in het gevangenhuis waren, in Jozefs hand; en al wat zij daar deden, deed hij.

And he gave [the] commander of [the] house of the prison in [the] hand of Joseph all the prisoners who [were] in [the] house of the prison and all that [they were] doing there he he was doing.

23 De overste van het gevangenhuis zag gans op geen ding, dat in zijn hand was, overmits dat de HEERE met hem was; en wat hij deed, dat deed de HEERE wel gedijen.

Not - [the] commander of [the] house of the prison [was] seeing all anything in hand his in that Yahweh [was] with him and [that] which he [was] doing Yahweh [was] making successful.
