1 Samuël 13
1 Saul was een jaar in zijn regering geweest, en het tweede jaar regeerde hij over Israel.
[was] a son of (Thirty *X*) year[s] Saul when became king he (and forty *X*) and two years he reigned over Israel.
2 Toen verkoos zich Saul drie duizend mannen uit Israel; en er waren bij Saul twee duizend te Michmas en op het gebergte van Beth-El, en duizend waren er bij Jonathan te Gibea-Benjamins; en het overige des volks liet hij gaan, een iegelijk naar zijn tent.
And he chose for himself Saul three thousand from Israel and they were with Saul two thousand at Micmash and in [the] hill country of Beth-el and one thousand they were with Jonathan at Gibeah of Benjamin and [the] rest of the people he sent away each man to tents his.
3 Doch Jonathan sloeg de bezetting der Filistijnen, die te Geba was, hetwelk de Filistijnen hoorden. Daarom blies Saul met de bazuin in het ganse land, zeggende: Laat het de Hebreen horen.
And he attacked Jonathan [the] garrison of [the] Philistines which [was] at Geba and they heard [the] Philistines and Saul he gave a blast on the trumpet in all the land saying let them hear the Hebrews.
4 Toen hoorde het ganse Israel zeggen: Saul heeft de bezetting der Filistijnen geslagen, en ook is Israel stinkende geworden bij de Filistijnen. Toen werd het volk samengeroepen achter Saul, naar Gilgal.
And all Israel they heard saying he has attacked Saul [the] garrison of [the] Philistines and also it has made itself odious Israel with the Philistines and they were summoned the people after Saul Gilgal.
5 En de Filistijnen werden verzameld om te strijden tegen Israel, dertig duizend wagens, en zes duizend ruiters, en volk in menigte als het zand, dat aan den oever der zee is; en zij togen op, en legerden zich te Michmas, tegen het oosten van Beth-Aven.
And [the] Philistines they gathered - to fight with Israel thirty thousand chariot[s] and six thousand horsemen and a people like the sand which [is] on [the] shore of the sea for multitude and they came up and they encamped at Micmash [the] east of Beth Aven.
6 Toen de mannen van Israel zagen, dat zij in nood waren (want het volk was benauwd), zo verborg zich het volk in de spelonken, en in de doornbossen, en in de steenklippen, en in de vestingen, en in de putten.
And everyone of Israel they saw that it was distress to it for it was hard pressed the people and they hid themselves the people in caves and in thickets and in cliffs and in underground chambers and in cisterns.
7 De Hebreen nu gingen over de Jordaan in het land van Gad en Gilead. Toen Saul nog zelf te Gilgal was, zo kwam al het volk bevende achter hem.
And Hebrews they passed over the Jordan [the] land of Gad and Gilead and Saul still he [was] at Gilgal and all the people they trembled after him.
8 En hij vertoefde zeven dagen, tot den tijd, dien Samuel bestemd had. Als Samuel te Gilgal niet opkwam, zo verstrooide het volk van hem.
(And he waited *Q(K)*) seven days to the appointed time which Samuel and not he had come Samuel Gilgal and it scattered the people from with him.
9 Toen zeide Saul: Brengt tot mij herwaarts een brandoffer, en dankofferen; en hij offerde brandoffer.
And he said Saul bring near to me the burnt offering and the peace offerings and he offered up the burnt offering.
10 En het geschiedde, toen hij geeindigd had het brandoffer te offeren, ziet, zo kwam Samuel; en Saul ging uit hem tegemoet, om hem te zegenen.
And it was when finished he to offer up the burnt offering and there! Samuel [was] coming and he went out Saul to meet him to bless him.
11 Toen zeide Samuel: Wat hebt gij gedaan? Saul nu zeide: Omdat ik zag, dat zich het volk van mij verstrooide, en gij op den bestemden tijd der dagen niet kwaamt, en de Filistijnen te Michmas vergaderd waren,
And he said Samuel what? have you done and he said Saul if I saw that it was scattered the people from with me and you not you had come to [the] appointed time of the days and [the] Philistines [were] gathering Micmash.
12 Zo zeide ik: Nu zullen de Filistijnen tot mij afkomen te Gilgal, en ik heb het aangezicht des HEEREN niet ernstelijk aangebeden, zo dwong ik mijzelven, en heb brandoffer geofferd.
And I said now they will come down [the] Philistines against me Gilgal and [the] face of Yahweh not I have entreated and I forced myself and I offered up the burnt offering.
13 Toen zeide Samuel tot Saul: Gij hebt zottelijk gedaan; gij hebt het gebod van den HEERE, uw God, niet gehouden, dat Hij u geboden heeft; want de HEERE zou nu uw rijk over Israel bevestigd hebben tot in eeuwigheid.
And he said Samuel to Saul you have acted foolishly not you have kept [the] commandment of Yahweh God your which he commanded you for now he established Yahweh kingdom your to Israel until perpetuity.
14 Maar nu zal uw rijk niet bestaan. De HEERE heeft Zich een man gezocht naar Zijn hart, en de HEERE heeft hem geboden een voorganger te zijn over Zijn volk, omdat gij niet gehouden hebt, wat u de HEERE geboden had.
And now kingdom your not it will endure he has sought Yahweh for himself a man according to own heart his and he has appointed him Yahweh to ruler over people his for not you have kept [that] which he commanded you Yahweh.
15 Toen maakte zich Samuel op, en hij ging op van Gilgal naar Gibea-Benjamins; en Saul telde het volk, dat bij hem gevonden werd, omtrent zeshonderd man.
And he arose Samuel and he went up from Gilgal (and he went on way his and the rest of the people it went up after Saul to meet [the] people [of] the battle and they went from Gilgal *X*) Gibeah of Benjamin and he mustered Saul the people who were found with him about six hundred man.
16 En Saul en zijn zoon Jonathan, en het volk, dat bij hen gevonden was, bleven te Gibea-Benjamins; maar de Filistijnen waren te Michmas gelegerd.
And Saul and Jonathan son his and the people which was found with them [were] remaining in Geba of Benjamin and [the] Philistines they encamped in Micmash.
17 En de verdervers gingen uit het leger der Filistijnen, in drie hopen; de ene hoop keerde zich op den weg naar Ofra, naar het land Sual;
And it came out the destroyer from [the] camp of [the] Philistines three companies the company one it turned to [the] direction of Ophrah to [the] land of Shual.
18 En een hoop keerde zich naar den weg van Beth-horon; en een hoop keerde zich naar den weg der landpale, die naar het dal Zeboim naar de woestijn uitziet.
And the company one it turned [the] direction of Beth Horon and the company one it turned [the] direction the border which looks down over [the] valley of Zeboim the wilderness towards.
19 En er werd geen smid gevonden in het ganse land van Israel; want de Filistijnen hadden gezegd: Opdat de Hebreen geen zwaard noch spies maken.
And a craftsman not he was found in all [the] land of Israel for (they said *Q(K)*) [the] Philistines lest they should make the Hebrews a sword or a spear.
20 Daarom moest gans Israel tot de Filistijnen aftrekken, opdat een iegelijk zijn ploegijzer, of zijn spade, of zijn bijl, of zijn houweel scherpen liet.
And they went down all Israel the Philistines to sharpen each man plowshare his and mattock his and axe his and plowshare his.
21 Maar zij hadden tandige vijlen tot hun houwelen, en tot hun spaden, en tot de drietandige vorken, en tot de bijlen, en tot het stellen der prikkelen.
And it was the charge two thirds of a shekel for the plowshares and for the mattocks and for three fork and for the axes and to make straight the goad[s].
22 En het geschiedde ten dage des strijds, dat er geen zwaard noch spies gevonden werd in de hand van het ganse volk, dat bij Saul en bij Jonathan was; doch bij Saul en bij Jonathan, zijn zoon, werden zij gevonden.
And it was on a day of battle and not it was found a sword and a spear in [the] hand of any of the people which [was] with Saul and with Jonathan and it was found to Saul and to Jonathan son his.
23 En der Filistijnen leger toog naar den doortocht van Michmas.
And it came out [the] garrison of [the] Philistines to [the] pass of Micmash.
