Romeinen 9
1 Ik spreek de waarheid in Christus en lieg niet; en ook mijn geweten getuigt met mij mee in den heiligen Geest,
I say the truth in Meshiha, and lie not; my conscience witnesseth for me in the Spirit of Holiness,
2 dat ik een grote droefheid en een voortdurend harteleed ondervind,
that I have great grief, and (that) the sorrow of my heart ceaseth not.
3 Waarachtig, zelf zou ik van Christus gescheiden willen zijn terwille van mijn broeders, mijn stamverwanten naar het vlees.
For I could pray that I myself might be one accursed from Meshiha instead of my brethren and my kinsmen who are in the flesh;
4 Israëlieten zijn ze toch; aan hen behoort het kindschap, de heerlijkheid en het Verbond, de Wet, de eredienst en de Beloften;
who are the sons of Israel, and whose was the adoption of sons, and the glory, and the covenants, and the law, and the ministry, and the promises,
5 tot hen behoren de Vaders, en van hen stamt Christus af naar het vlees: Hij die God is, boven alles gezegend in eeuwigheid. Amen! (aiōn g165)
and the fathers; and from whom appeared the Meshiha in the flesh, who is Aloha over all: his be praises and benedictions to the age of ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Maar toch, Gods woord heeft niet gefaald! Want niet allen, die afstammen van Israël, behoren tot Israël;
FOR the word of Aloha hath not really fallen: for not all who are of Israel are Israel;
7 en niet allen zijn kinderen, omdat ze zijn uit Abrahams geslacht. Integendeel: "Het kroost van Isaäk zal uw kroost worden genoemd,"
neither also are they who are of the seed of Abraham all children; because it was said, In Ishok shall be called unto thee the seed:
8 dat wil zeggen: niet de kinderen naar het vlees zijn de kinderen van God, maar de kinderen der Belofte worden als kroost beschouwd.
but that is, the children of the flesh are not the children of Aloha, but the children of the promise are reckoned the seed.
9 De Belofte nu was als volgt: "Omstreeks deze tijd zal ik terugkomen, en zal Sara een zoon hebben."
For the promise is this word, In this time I will come, and a son shall be unto Sara.
10 Maar dit staat niet alleen. Ook Rebekka werd bevrucht door één man, Isaäk, onzen Vader.
And not this only, but also Raphka when with one, our father Ishok, she had association,
11 Welnu, toen haar kinderen nog niet waren geboren, en goed noch kwaad hadden verricht, toen reeds, -opdat Gods vrije raadsbesluit van kracht zou blijven,
before her sons were born, and had not wrought good or evil, the (choice) of Aloha was (made) known before that it should remain: not by works, but by him who called:
12 dat niet afhangt van de werken, maar van Hem die roept, -toen reeds werd haar gezegd:
for it was said, The elder shall be servant to the less;
13 "De oudste zal den jongste dienen;" zoals er geschreven staat: "Jakob heb ik bemind, maar Esau heb ik gehaat."
as it is written, Jakub have I loved, and Isu have I hated.
14 Wat zullen we daarop zeggen? Is er dan onrechtvaardigheid bij God? Dat nooit!
What then say we? Is there iniquity with Aloha? Not so:
15 Hij zegt immers tot Moses: "Ik zal Mij ontfermen over wien Ik Mij ontfermen wil; en Mij erbarmen over wien Ik Mij erbarmen wil".
behold, also, he said unto Musha, I will have mercy upon whom I will have mercy, and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious.
16 Het hangt dus niet af van hem die wil, noch van hem, die zijn krachten inspant, maar van de ontferming Gods.
Therefore it is not by him who willeth, nor by him who runneth, but by Aloha the Merciful.
17 Want de Schrift zegt tot Fárao: "Hiertoe juist heb Ik u doen optreden, opdat in u mijn macht zou blijken, en mijn Naam over heel de aarde zou worden verkondigd."
For it is said in the scripture to Pherun, For this I have raised thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
18 Derhalve, Hij ontfermt Zich over wien Hij wil, en Hij verhardt wien Hij wil.
Then upon whom he willeth he is merciful, and whom he willeth he hardeneth.
19 Ge zult me dan zeggen: Wat heeft Hij dan nog verwijten te doen; wie toch weerstaat aan zijn wil?
Perhaps thou wilt say, Of what then doth he complain; for who shall arise against his will?
20 O mens, wie zijt ge dan wel, dat ge opwerpingen maakt tegen God? Zegt het beeld soms tot den boetseerder: Waarom hebt ge mij zó gemaakt?
Who then art thou, O man, who givest answer against Aloha? Will the mass say to him who formeth it, Why thus hast thou formed me?
21 Of is soms de pottenbakker geen baas over het leem, om uit eenzelfde massa het ene vat te maken met een eervolle, het andere met een smadelijke bestemming?
Or, hath not the potter power over his clay, that from the (same) mass he might make vessels, the one to honour, and the other to vileness?
22 Maar wat dan, zo God met grote lankmoedigheid de vaten van gramschap heeft verdragen, gereed voor de ondergang, omdat Hij zijn gramschap wil tonen en zijn macht wil bewijzen;
BUT if Aloha, willing to reveal his wrath, and to make known his power, in his much patience bore with the vessels of wrath who were perfected for destruction,
23 doch, om de rijkdom zijner glorie te tonen in de vaten van barmhartigheid, die Hij heeft voorbereid tot de glorie,
and poured his mercy upon the vessels of mercy who were prepared of Aloha for glory,
24 òns heeft geroepen niet slechts uit de Joden, maar ook uit de heidenen?
who are we, (ourselves) the called, not only of the Jihudoyee, but also of the Gentiles:
25 Zo zegt Hij ook in Osee: "Wat mijn volk niet was, zal ik mijn volk noemen; En die de geliefde niet was, den geliefde.
so also in Husha he said, I will call them my people who were not my people, and on those on whom I was not merciful, will I be merciful:
26 En op de plaats waar hun gezegd was: Mijn volk zijt gij niet, Daar zullen ze worden genoemd: Kinderen van den levenden God."
for it shall be in the place where they were not called my people, there shall they be called the children of Aloha the Living.
27 En over Israël roept Isaias het uit: "Al was het getal van Israëls zonen Als het zand van de zee, het overschot zal worden gered;
But Eshaia proclaims of the sons of Israel: Though the number of the sons of Israel were as the sand which is on the sea, the residue of them shall be saved.
28 Want de Heer zal zijn woord op aarde gestand doen, Volkomen en snel."
The Lord hath decreed and determined the word, and will perform it upon the earth.
29 Zo heeft Isaias ook voorspeld: "Zo de Heer der legerscharen Ons geen kroost had nagelaten, Dan zouden we als Sódoma zijn geworden, En aan Gomorra gelijk."
And as that which Eshaia had said before: Unless the Lord of sebaoth had left to us a residue, as Sedum should we have been, and to Amura have been likened.
30 Wat zullen we daaruit besluiten? Dit! De heidenen, die niet naar de gerechtigheid hebben gestreefd, hebben de gerechtigheid verkregen, maar dan een gerechtigheid uit het geloof;
WHAT then shall we say? That the Gentiles who have not followed after righteousness have attained righteousness, but that righteousness which is of faith:
31 maar Israël heeft gestreefd naar een wèt der gerechtigheid, doch heeft die wet niet bereikt.
but Israel, who followed after the law of righteousness, unto the law of righteousness have not attained.
32 Waarom? Omdat het niet uit geloof geschiedde, maar uit kracht van de werken. Ze stieten zich aan de steen des aanstoots,
For why? Because it was not by faith, but by the works of the law: for they stumbled at the stone of stumbling;
33 zoals er geschreven staat: "Zie Ik stel in Sion een steen des aanstoots, En een rotsblok van ergernis; En wie in Hem gelooft, Zal niet worden beschaamd."
as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling And a rock of offence; And whosoever in him shall believe Shall not be ashamed.
