Openbaring 2
1 Schrijf aan den engel der kerk te Éfese. Dit zegt Hij, die de zeven sterren houdt in zijn rechterhand, die rondgaat te midden der zeven gouden luchters:
Unto the messenger of the congregacion of Ephesus wryte: These thynges sayth he that holdeth the vii. starres in his right honde and walketh in the myddes of the vii. golden candlestyckes
2 Ik ken uw werken, uw zwoegen en uw geduld; en Ik weet, dat ge de bozen niet kunt verdragen. Ge hebt hen, die zich apostelen noemen, —maar ze zijn het niet—op de proef gesteld, en ze leugenaars bevonden.
I knowe thy workes and thy labour and thy pacience and howe thou cannest not forbeare the which are evyll: and examinedst them which saye they are Apostles and are not: and hast founde them lyars
3 Ook bezit ge geduld, en veel hebt ge uitgestaan terwille van mijn Naam, zonder moede te worden.
and dydest wasshe thy self. And hast pacience: and for my names sake hast labored and hast not faynted.
4 Maar Ik heb tégen u, dat ge uw eerste liefde verloren hebt.
Neverthelesse I have sumwhat agaynst the for thou haste lefte thy fyrst love.
5 Denk er eens aan, van welke hoogte ge zijt neergestort; bekeer u, en doe de werken van weleer. Zo niet, dan kom Ik op u af; Ik zal uw luchter van zijn plaats verwijderen, zo ge u niet bekeert.
Remember therfore from whence thou art fallen and repent and do the fyrst workes. Or elles I wyll come vnto the shortly and will remove thy candlestyke out of his place excepte thou repent.
6 Dit echter hebt ge vóór, dat ge de werken der Nikolaieten haat, die ook Ik haat.
But this thou haste because thou hatest ye dedes of the Nicolaitans which dedes I also hate.
7 Wie oren heeft, die hore wat de Geest zegt tot de kerken: Wie overwint, zal Ik doen eten van de boom des levens, die staat in het Paradijs van God.
Lett him yt hath eares heare what ye sprete sayth vnto the congregacions. To him that overcometh will I geve to eate of the tree of lyfe which is in the myddes of ye paradice of god.
8 Schrijf aan den engel der kerk te Smyrna. Dit zegt de Eerste en de Laatste, Hij die dood was en levend werd:
And vnto the angell of the congregacion of Smyrna wryte: These thynges sayth he that is fyrst and the laste which was deed and is alive.
9 Ik ken uw verdrukking en uw armoede, —toch zijt ge rijk; ook de lastering door hen, die zich Joden noemen, —toch zijn ze het niet, maar een synagoge van Satan.
I knowe thy workes and tribulacion and poverte but thou art ryche: And I knowe the blaspemy of them whiche call them selves Iewes and are not: but are the congregacio of sathan.
10 Vrees niet voor wat ge lijden moet. Zie, de duivel zal sommigen van u in de kerker werpen, om u te bekoren; ook zult ge verdrukking lijden tien dagen lang. Wees getrouw tot in de dood, en Ik zal u de kroon des leven schenken.
Feare none of thoo thynges which thou shalt soffre. Beholde the devyll shall caste of you into preson to tempte you and ye shall have tribulacion. x. dayes. Be faythfull vnto the deeth and I will geve the a croune of lyfe.
11 Wie oren heeft, die hore wat de Geest zegt tot de kerken: Wie overwint, zal van de tweede dood geen letsel krijgen.
Let him that hath ears heare what the sprete sayth to the congregacions: He that overcometh shall not be hurte of the seconde deeth.
12 Schrijf aan den engel der kerk te Pérgamus. Dit zegt Hij, die voert het scherpe tweesnijdende zwaard:
And to the messenger of the congregacion in Pergamos wryte: This sayth he which hath ye sharpe swearde with two edges.
13 Ik weet, waar ge woont; daar, waar de troon van Satan staat. Toch houdt ge vast aan mijn Naam; het geloof in Mij hebt ge niet verloochend, zelfs in de dagen van Antipas niet, mijn trouwen getuige, die gedood werd bij u, waar Satan woont.
I knowe thy workes and where thow dwellest evyn where Sathans seat ys and thou kepest my name and hast not denyed my fayth. And in my dayes Antipas was a faythfull witnes of myne which was slayne amonge you where sathan dwelleth.
14 Maar Ik heb enkele dingen tégen u. Want ge hebt er daar, die de leer van Bálaäm volgen, van hem, die Balak een struikelblok leerde leggen voor Israëls zonen, om afgodenoffers te eten en ontucht te plegen;
But I have a fewe thynges agaynst the: yt thou hast there they that mayntayne the doctryne of Balam which taught in balake to put occasion of syn before the chylderne of Israhell that they shulde eate of meate dedicat vnto ydoles and to commyt fornicacion.
15 zó hebt gij er ook, die de leer der Nikolaieten volgen, die hetzelfde beoogt.
Even so hast thou them that mayntayne the doctryne of the Nicolaytans which thynge I hate.
16 Bekeer u dus! Zo niet, dan kom Ik schielijk op u af; en Ik zal strijd tegen hen voeren met het zwaard van mijn mond.
But be converted or elles I will come vnto the shortly and will fyght agaynste the with thes wearde of my mouth
17 Wie oren heeft, die hore wat de Geest zegt tot de kerken: Wie overwint, zal Ik van het verborgen manna geven; en Ik zal hem schenken een witte steen, en op die steen zal een nieuwe naam staan geschreven, die niemand kent, dan die hem krijgt.
Lett him that hath eares heare what the sprete sayth vnto the congregacios: To him that overcommeth will I geve to eate manna that is hyd and will geve him a whyte stone and in the stone a newe name wrytten which no ma knoweth savinge he that receaveth it.
18 Schrijf aan den engel der kerk te Tuatira. Dit zegt de Zoon van God, die ogen heeft als een vuurvlam, wiens voeten zijn als glanzend koper.
And vnto the messenger of the congregacion of Theatira write: This sayth the sonne of god which hath his eyes lyke vnto a flame of fyre whose fete are like brasse:
19 Ik ken uw werken, uw liefde, geloof, dienstvaardigheid en standvastigheid; ook uw latere werken, talrijker nog dan de eerste.
I knowe thy workes and thy love service and fayth and thy paciece and thy dedes which are mo at the last then at the fyrste.
20 Maar Ik heb tégen u, dat ge de vrouw Izebel laat begaan, die zich profetes noemt, en door haar leer mijn dienaars verleidt, om ontucht te plegen en afgodenoffers te eten.
Notwitstondinge I have a feawe thynges agaynst the that thou sofferest that woman Iesabell which called her sylfe a prophetes to teache and to deceave my servauntes to make them commyt fornicacion and to eate meates offered vppe vnto ydoles.
21 Ik heb haar tijd gegeven, om tot inkeer te komen; maar ze wil zich niet bekeren van haar ontucht.
And I gave her space to repent of her fornicacion and she repented not.
22 Zie, haar werp Ik op het bed; die overspel met haar plegen, breng Ik in grote verdrukking, wanneer ze zich niet van haar werken bekeren;
Beholde I will caste her into a beed and them yt commyt fornicacion wt her into gret adversite excepte they tourne fro their deades.
23 haar kinderen zal Ik doen omkomen door de dood. Dan zullen alle kerken weten, dat Ik het ben, die nieren en harten doorgrond, en dat Ik ieder van u naar uw werken vergeld.
And I will kyll her children with deeth. And all the congregacions shall knowe that I am he which searcheth ye reynes and hertes. And I will geve vnto evere one of you accordynge vnto youre workes.
24 Aan de anderen van Tuatira, aan hen, die deze leer niet aanvaarden en de diepte van Satan niet kennen, zoals men dat noemt; aan u zeg Ik: Ik leg u geen andere last op;
Vnto you I saye and vnto other of them of Thiatyra as many as have not this lerninge and which have not knowen the depnes of Satha (as they saye) I will put apo you none other burthe
25 houdt slechts vast wat ge hebt, totdat Ik kom.
but yt which ye have alreddy. Holde fast tyll I come
26 Wie overwint, en ten einde toe mijn werken volbrengt, hem zal Ik macht over de heidenen geven;
and whosoever overcometh and kepeth my workes vnto the ende to hym will I geve power over nacios
27 met ijzeren staf zal hij ze weiden, gelijk de aarden vaten worden verbrijzeld,
and he shall rule them with a rodde of yron: and as the vessels of a potter shall he breake them to shevers. Eve as I receaved of my father
28 zoals Ik die macht ook van mijn Vader ontving. Ook zal Ik hem schenken de morgenster.
eue so will I geve him ye mornynge starre.
29 Wie oren heeft, hore wat de Geest zegt tot de kerken.
Let him yt hath eares heare what the sprete sayth to the congregacions.
